I visited during happy hour. It's great to be able to enjoy a variety of Japanese beers and light snacks.

Furaibo used to be one of our absolute faves in Perth. Unfortunately the last visit was very disappointing. We were a group of 4+ 1 child with a booking on the Saturday.

Our meals was delayed by 45 minutes between the first dish (shiitake pasta) and the fried chicken set meal. Which means that half our party has finished the meal before some has arrived.

When questioned, the staff gave terrible excuses on 2 occasions, perhaps being misled by kitchen staff. 1. The rice was not cooked - yet all around us other rice based dishes was being served. 2. The initial chicken was overcooked - yet the unagi set we also ordered was not served as well.

While the server made a good effort to apologise and offered desserts etc, the whole experience was unfortunately very disappointing and we won’t be returning in a hurry.

My friends and I were excited to come and eat at Furaibo this evening. Unfortunately we were met with an unpleasant experience. The bar man down stairs mocked the accent of my foreign partner when we asked a question - it was our first time there. We felt unwelcomed and felt that particular staff members down stairs were not bothered to help us, except for one bar lady later on. The customers on the table behind us had too much to drink and were rude which made the atmosphere uncomfortable. We ended up leaving early and would not recommend the bar down stairs. Maybe the restaurant upstairs might be a different and more positive experience.

Edit in response to reply: Thank you for taking the matter seriously especially regarding the anti-discrimination aspect. This incident occurred before we sat down at the table before we went upstairs to try to get a booking, the barman had dark hair and responded in a mocking tone, mimicking my partner’s accent to say that the sushi was upstairs when he had asked where to get sushi. The intention is just to make you aware so that international customers feel welcomed and comfortable by staff at your restaurant/bar.

I loved them sushi sashimi and cocteles! The second floor has a balcony and it’s very nice option to eat there. Fast service and friendly staff.

Great place to knock back a pint or two or a red if that's your preference. Excellent range of Japanese beers and whiskeys.
They also offer a delectable range of Yakitori and other standard bar grub.
Love the central location, range of liquors and general vibe. Highly recommended

Nice place, though $68 for one shot of Hennessey and a Canadian club drink with a mixer. This is a complete scam. Served by young asian girl downstairs with an attitude and no smile.

My friends also ordered some chips which were completely drowned in salt (this is no exaggeration), after complaining they could not possibly be eaten, the 2 male bar staff said there was nothing they could do (seems they were too lazy to get management nearing closing time). Finally management refunded. Very unprofessional from the bar staff.

Ordered takeaway seafood to the value of $100+, all had to be thrown out as it was completely unedible. Very disappointing.

Allround terrible experience and will not be recommending to any friends.

Disappointing from start to finish. Despite the photos looking somewhat appetising, everything was so extremely salty, the skewers were burnt/over cooked and NOT charred.

Our skewers arrived at least 40min from the first dish (kingfish carpaccio), even the waitress thought it was strange as she came and asked us if we had received our skewers yet. When we told her no she hurried back to the kitchen, 10-15min later they finally came with everything else.

Overall the flavours weren’t well balanced at all. The skewers were dry, salty and somewhat bitter. The mochi cheese is not even worth talking about and the rice balls similarly to the skewers were not a pleasant experience at all.

At the end, the waitress asked us how everything was, we gave her our honest feedback saying it was too salty and she said « yah, especially the skewers right?  ». I am wondering if something happened to our order and they did not bother remaking it?
When it came to pay, even after hearing such feedback and leaving most of our dishes, they didn’t offer to take anything out from the bill and also advised me that there would be a % surcharge for paying with a credit card. I would have expected a higher end restaurant like this one to have at least made a gesture.

I will definitely not come back to nor recommend this place to anyone.

But of inneficiency, we would have ordered more but couldn't manage to and then had the team tell us that they had the next booking coming up
The sashimi plate was very generous with a good variety, I enjoyed it a lot.
My friends had the pork belly and the steak and both loved them. The view upstairs is great, will definately be going back.

Love how these tossers mark up their food under the premise that “staff are expensive” but then don’t give you any staff to actually serve you, and tell you to order though your phone. Once you’ve paid for your order it disappears and there’s no way to check what you ordered. Then the staff couldn’t find the order. Eventually when the two dishes came out, they came out 20 mins apart, and were mediocre at best. Would give it less than 2 stars if 1 star reviews weren’t ignored. Just overpriced fluff, with terrible service.

Had a great time in their restaurant. I would recommend the 3x3 Chef's sashimi, the 9+ wagyu and the zaru soba. The staff were very friendly and accommodating - ask them to write a message on your dessert!

We should spend the money on going to Japan, getting fresh sushi and sashimi. We ordered Wagyu and beef tongue sticks, salmon platter, o-toro sashimi, uni and ikura nigiri. Both sticks were so dry and overcooked. Salmon and o-toro were both not fresh enough. Uni was good but the seaweed was awful! Ikura nigiri was horrible, ikura, rice and seaweed both were awful! The price and food qualities are unequal.

I have sent the review to the restaurant contact email and I would like to hear from Furaibo and see what the management think about the poor service.

I had the most horrendous experience yesterday in the restaurant. I understand that it is hard to find people in hospitality at the moment in Perth. However, poor quality wait staffs will drag down the standard of the restaurant. Hence the bad experience for us from last night.

It was a special birthday celebration which I have stated in the booking. It was not acknowledged, which was ok because I don’t expect Furaibo to have such a high standard. I wanted to make it a surprise dinner and it turned out more than a surprise. I was so shocked that I has definitely made it difficult for me to come back again.
Firstly, the only available booking was downstairs and I was told that there was a function upstairs when I called up. The table was tiny but I could totally understand this and I was happy to sit downstairs. However the table was sticky and filthy. There was food and sticky sauces and grease on the table. I went to the bar to tell the 3 bartenders who seemed very absent-minded at the time if they could clean the table for me. They said yes but I waited for 15 minutes and nothing happened.
I waited 10 minutes at the bar, although there was only one customer before me. I wasn’t sure if it was the language barrier between the bartender and the customer, or something else, it took so long and it was extremely frustrating. But she apologized to me for making me wait for so long and took my order. The same girl started to take to her 3 friends who were visiting (but not restaurant customers) in a foreign language. I had to interrupt her so that I could ask about the table cleaning again.
One of the bartenders with glasses was very impatient and she rolled her eyes, which I have never experienced in a restaurant before. It was shocking!
Finally, table was cleaned but two of them came at the same time. This is such an inefficient restaurant and I still couldn’t get my head around why two people had to do the same thing at the same time when there were 5 customers waiting at the bar to order drinks. What happened to teamwork and communication? Do they not talk behind the bar? Or simply too busy being absent minded? Or too distracted by friends who were visiting her workplace?
We waited for 10 more minutes and food came but the waitress left very quickly. They didn’t bring out chopsticks and I had to ask again at the bar. A few minutes later, a box with cutleries were dumped onto our table. Once again, the service was shocking!
I have been to Furaibo multiple times previously and my favourite dish is the wagyu aburi. They came cold yesterday and the wagyu wasn’t torched in front of us like how it was previously. It was a little overcooked sadly…
10 more minutes later, our sashimi came without any soy sauce and small dishes. I had to ask again at the bar and one of the girls told me that they don’t usually give out soy sauce till customer ask? !? I understand that this is not Japan and I wasn’t expecting authentic Japanese dining experience in Furaibo. But even in the Japanese takeaways in the shopping centers, they don’t wait till us ask for soy sauce for sashimi, they just offer them to us. With the amount of money we pay in Furaibo, I expect more than this! Once again, shocking!
We waited 30 more minutes and we were still waiting for the sticks. We were supposed to go to a show at 730pm and it was getting close. I asked if I could get a refund as we were going to be late. One of the girls said the kitchen mixed up the order and it was too late to make them now. That was why we didn’t receive them, although we have paid for them beforehand? !? ! Plus I didn’t see her asking the kitchen either. I think she probably made that up on the spot or the kitchen had made the same mistakes all night? Anyway, it was such a horrible dining experience and we left the restaurant hungry and angry and frustrated!

Two years ago when we first tried this restaurant, it was new and the food and service were great. We’re glad they survived the pandemic, although we find that the food quality has gone down a bit. The edamame was overcooked and the venom roll was swimming in sauce. It seems that their rolls are more western style now — huge chunks of filling and hard rice, covered in too much sauce. The service continues to be very good though!

Food was amazing. Staff not so much. Before arriving I had called the restaurant 9 times and no answer.

When we walked upstairs I talked to the front of house staff. I said hello and told her my name and booking details. My partner and I were not greeted and were just told we had 90 minutes then shown to our table.

As we were seated behind the same staff who showed us to our table we could see her on messenger texting and on her phone most of the time we were in the restaurant. We had to waive her down twice to order and get some water topped up…

On the booking I had put in it was a birthday and there was no recognition at all for my partner as it was his birthday dinner.

At 6: 20PM (booking was at 5PM) my partner picked up his phone to make a phone call. During this the same staff lady came over and said she needed the table even though we still had 10 minutes left and I was waiting for my partner to get off the phone. (Also a bit confused as even by the time we left there were lots of available tables.) Felt very rushed and very unwanted. Especially on a special occasion as my partner doesn’t really like making a big deal over his birthday so this dinner was meant to be something special and nice.

For the amount of money spent we felt very disappointed. Shame because we couldn’t fault the food.

Good food, but our waiter was clueless.
Very poor service where he didn’t know what he was doing.
He was taking our order on the tablet, but ‘forgot’ our food and left it out.
Our beers took forever to come because they simply forgot about it.
Very poor service.

Had a good time here. Tried everything on the menu, from sashimi, to chicken wings to wagyu.

Wagyu that they flame at the table was definitely my favourite. Great service from the manager, top guy.

The staff managed to get my beer wrong 3 times, then sell me 2 beers that were run out, so after the 6th go, I got my beer! Apart from that all was great.
