Frank's Barbecue Texas Smokehouse reviews
34 Update (2021 July) :
When I recently visited, the staff were incredibly rude, displaying disgusting customer service. Very disappointing as I would always promote this venue, even during lockdown when hardly anyone would attend, I still made the effort of driving out there and promoting it to my 5000 fb friends and on Instagram.
I won’t be coming back.
Original (2020) :
Beyond authentic! I'm always impressed by the venue, the quality of the food and the service.
If you enjoy smoked meat, wings, fries or even just bottomless ice tea, you need to check this place out.
Got the lunch special two meats and two sides for 12.95.
Got the brisket (was amazing and a choice of 2 types) and the pulled pork for the meats, as for the sides got the texan mash and Mac and cheese.
The food here is amazing the setting it great plenty of space and deffinetly seems like your in an American smoke house.
Ok, so food was nice although all the different meats have the same flavouring.
1st time for us, did the $60 tasting plate. Not worth $60 if you do takeaway.
Eat in and you get at least double (according to a couple who ordered the same thing).
Looks like a good venue, plenty of space, clean and fast service.
My husband and I came here for our first time and to be honest I wasn't happy with how the service was and the fact that the guy at the cooking station had long hair and wasn't wearing a hair net but after having a manager come and talk to us and apologize for the miscommunication and the service I decided to give 5 stars as she was really sweet and understanding and she gave us a voucher to come back and try something else and that's what I like yes the service and communication wasn't great but she made the rest of our time there pleasant so thank you for your kind gesture and for coming over to us and asking how our meal was. We will be back to try the sampler platter that you suggested
Brisket is brilliant. Ribs remind me why I don't bother cooking them myself at home. Sides are all fun and right for the meat. Only thing I can say is I wish they'd market themselves better and pump the outdoor area somehow.it's sad to see the place looking so under-patroned from the street. And a livelier Facebook presence might be useful too. Otherwise love the place and hope it can keep it's head above water!
I asked for metal utensils as they were all plastic, plus for easier eating and they said that’s what they do in Texas so everything is plastic including the cups food was average too for how much we paid
Awesome food at reasonable prices. Funky surrounds. Cool, old-school southern blues as the soundtrack. Highly recommended.
The good: Had the brisket and ribs, both were excellent. Great setting, feels like you're somewhere in America.
The average: The mac & cheese wasn't that great. The cheese didn't seem like real cheese, more like powder stuff. Lazy, given mac & cheese is not that hard. Also, no cornbread with the meat? I think you've got to throw that in. If you're going to replicate American styled bbq, ambience, beer, etc.don't skip American styled portions. Part of the American dining experience is they throw free stuff at you, cornbread being a *basic*. You're meant to get stuffed. I'm American, very well travelled in America, and this portions issue is always where American-derived restaurants in Australia get it wrong, from McDonalds to Franks. Charge me for it if you must, but I want to roll out of your restaurant and for the love of God, you have to *give* people cornbread with their bbq. Not doing so is really an amateur's mistake.
Not good. Got the share platter. Brisket, chicken and pork ribs all dry. And they all tasted like smoked pork. No difference in taste. The corn tasted like it had been just tipped out a tin. And everything except the fries was barely warm. Cannot recommend.
Like others have said get rid of the plastic it is terrible for the environment and a bad user experience.
Delicious. The meat had a woody taste though I'm assuming that's how they cooked it or smoked it. But I'd preferred Coal doesn't leave that after taste but other than that the BBQ was really good.
Absolutely love the food and atmosphere here, and the friendly service by management and staff is the cherry on top of a fantastic night!
It feels like an authentic American atmosphere. The food is tasty but often greasy, and the prices aren't always cheap. Best to go on a day when they have a really good deal.
A lot of unnecessary disposable plastics are used for cutlery, drinks and food.
Being an American BBQ house, it's impossible for a vegan to eat here.
Burgers great. Nachos are basically loaded fries, but on chips (not Mexican). Amazing. Wings? So good I stopped ordering the burger. Beans? Most American taste i've had in awhile. Reminds me of home. Ribs? Pretty good. Brisket? Pork? Eh. Those were disappointing.
