As a fish and chips lover I was very disappointed in this place. We paid over $68 for 2 x fish and chips, squid rings, 1 x fish cake, 3 x pineapple fritters, 1 x crab stick and 3 small Woolworth kids’ juices.

The good. The chips were good and so too were the tasty, dusted squid rings.

The bad. For $12.95 you get one (1) small piece of fish with not much fish inside and quite dry. It reminded me of when I’d over-cooked the fish you find in supermarkets in cardboard boxes but was less meaty.

After receiving the order I questioned the price (my partner made the order). When i asked about the huge sign with the deal (see photo) at the front of the restaurant we were told that is a different fish (we had asked for “fish and chips” so I don’t know how the signage could refer to a different “fish and chips”).

I think the place was pulling a fast one. If they weren’t then it is a truly expensive place for what you get. The three little drinks came to $10.50 ($3.50 each). The fish was very overpriced for what you received, most places are $9 around the area (check out Brighton Fish and Chips). We would happily have spent $68+ on The Canteen (great fish and chips and opposite the sea).

The moral of this story is: if you like squid and chips then this is a good place to visit. If you prefer fish and chips then definitely avoid this place because your money can be better spent elsewhere, a place that won’t leave you disappointed.

Fork N fish make the most Delicious fish and ship is test different from others fish and ship Their fish so clean and it doesn't have strong smell Which I really love and is cooked to perfection. They are very good at what they does. Guys you should try their fish and ship you will not be disappointed?

Very satisfying fish and chips with sides of mussels and sea scallops for three. Chips were tasty but lacked the crunch they could have had. Generous portions. Great friendly staff. We shall return.

Extremely expensive for an average tasting grilled piece of snapper. We bought 3 pieces of grilled snapper, a serve of squid and chips and one tartar for about $68. Each piece of grilled snapper was just shy of $17. Incredible! I had been going here since being a girl but no longer.

Garbage quality, don’t bother, Beachcombers is way better, thought ide give it another chance as experience last week at beachcombers was disappointing but not to the degree of this place, what a mistake, never again, this place should not be in business.

I am a Trigg local and have always enjoyed the quality of food from this place. On a recent occasion, my order was not correct (fish battered, not grilled) when I unwrapped it at home. I rang the owner to let him know and he offered a replacement without any hesitation. The customer service is as good as the food. Thanks

Rectangular Slushy over cooked (fish) I think, chips were average.tartare sauce tastyish, not the same as of 3 years ago.pass

The friendly staff recommended the calamari and I obliged. Thick cut chips were on point, fresh oil and well cooked, perfectly salted and we all enjoyed them a lot!
The staff even came out of the shop when they were ready and delivered them to us as we tended to our kids in the car!

Think we may have got them on an ‘off night’. The chips did not taste good at all (old potatoes maybe? Or could’ve been that the oil wasn’t changed in a while - what ever it was, something wasn’t quite right and we all feel pretty ill now). Fish was half decent, but probably cooked in the same oil - which gave it a lingering after taste. This was our first time, so we’ll give it another go eventually. Only thing that was good was the service - very friendly bloke running the joint! Hoping next time is better.

I stopped here tonight as I noticed the sign and haven't had a decent, typical fish n chips in ages so I thought I'd try it out. I am so satisfied right now, it was perfect! Great size portion, yummy fish and ideal chippies. So grateful and thankyou guys for the lovely service & smiles too

Ordered for pick up through UberEats. Got a notification that the food was ready and arrived to pick it up 4 minutes later. Got yelled at by an aggressive old man at the till saying I was late and should’ve been there 20 minutes earlier, even though he didn’t state on the app that the order was ready until 4 minutes prior to my arrival. Wasn’t even peak hour and there was no one else in store, absolutely no reason to be so mad. Paid $68 for soggy fish and chips for only 3 people.

Portion size was large, chips were amazing and fish tasted good. Best chips I’ve had in over 18 months! Super fresh and tasty

Absolutely fantastic snapper. Cooked well with a crispy batter and very fresh fish. Too many chips for us but if we are going to be a little naughty then this is a must.

We had awesome crispy chips plus two huge chunky pieces of snapper plenty for 4 people. Really nice potato scallops, but could have been cooked a tad longer as they were a bit cold in the middle. Very enjoyable.

Unpleasant old man on the till. Table before us had there’s delivered to the table we waited 40 minutes then went into the shop and were told these customers who expect it brought out to them are a pain no buzzer or number given to us and the food was all soggy because it had obviously been sitting there I would give no stars if I could avoid

Fish was too thin. Given long speech from propieter about short comings of mackerel which he suggested affected the brain of older clients and threw in the Bible for good measure.
You can do better else where.

I asked for grilled fish and it turned up grilled with batter on it! So wasn't overly impressed with that.

Terrible. Fish was very greasy which made the chips greasy. Onion rings were a joke and they forgot the cans of coke we ordered and when phoned up to ask if we were getting them we were told no they weren't going to deliver them, so they just stole 6$ off us.

Another case of the closer to the ocean, the poorer the fish and chips. Portions are small for the money.

I find this shop hit and miss - it either depends on who is working or perhaps there has been a change in owner as to whether your food is any good. Trying to avoid the deep fried options I ordered the grilled lemon pepper squid for $15, this is the small serving of battered rubbish I received. Needless to say I will never be ordering again.
