Federal hotel should change their name to Statism Hotel, not only do they discriminate against the minority with a valid medical mask exemption, they also discriminate based on skin colour.

If you are looking to go out and feel bad about yourself for reasons beyond your control, look no further than this mediocre venue.

No matter yr view on the current restrictions due to Covid, if a person has a legitimate mask exemption signed by a Dr, the law is that business can't discriminate towards that person and deny service. This business literally goes above the mandate and chooses to break the law.

I saw 2 patrons denied entry to the hotel after showing their mask exemptions. I will let my friends know not to attend the venue.

Had a “regular” become to comfortable with us and not leave our table. My wife complained to security that he was making her feel very uncomfortable as he kept moving closer and closer to her to the extent where he was leaning across her. Eventually she got up and “went to the bathroom” to removed herself for the situation. She then reported to security and their response was “Yes we know him. He does this all the time. Unfortunately we can’t remove him as he is a regular. ” I find this response very unsatisfactory and disappointing. Definitely makes me not want to return.

Watch staff for over 3 hours walk around without masks worn appropriately but for some reasons thought they could tell patrons to put a mask on. Pot calling the kettle black.

I never post negative comments online. But what I witnessed on Sunday was unacceptable and I feel like it is time for this place's management to have a serious talk with their team. I witnessed a girl dancing being suddenly and aggressively kicked out of the place while I was waiting to get in on the other side of the gate.
I did not understand the whole story except that she used to work there and/or knew the management and that an ex was involved. All I saw is a beautiful lady get physically pushed through the door by one of the male manager. It was unacceptable.
The person who did that should get fired. She was only trying to understand why she had been banned from the bar and no reasonable answer was being provided which made her of course very emotional.

Absolutely terrible! They won’t accept peoples legitimate mask exemptions for medical reasons. Illegal. Discriminatory. Don’t go here

Good option for classic pub food. Has plenty of sporting options to watch as well. Good selection of WA based beers.

Large establishment with multiple bar areas to choose from. The outside area is inviting however limited shade so put sunscreen on and can get hot. Bathroom wasn't the best but You don't visit for the toilet.

We stayed in a queen room and it was beautiful. The rooms are renovated, clean and done very tastefully. We had a large balcony with a view of High Street. The windows were double glazed so on the Wednesday and Thursday nights we stayed there was very little noise from the bars.

Our only criticism was the queen size bed, when they definitely could have fit a king in there. Every time my partner moved I was thrown around and visa versa.

We also really appreciated the $50 venue voucher for booking directly with The National.

This would have been a 4 star review had my dining experience been better. I always like to write down the positives of my experience to offset the negatives.
My partner and I thought it would be nice to have a break from cooking to enjoy a pub meal. What we got was that in spades- a beautiful, delicious meal (keep up the ripper work kitchen staff!). The meals were delivered in a timely and pleasant manner. Thanks waitstaff!
However, our initial lovely experience was overshadowed, when full from our meals we wanted to ask for them to be packed to go. I called out politely "excuse me" to a female staff member who made a point of ignoring me as she walked past. This experience was repeated again, when I politely called out the same to another young female staff member walking past, except she said "give me 2 seconds" then made a point of ignoring me as she walked past us again (ignoring me again whilst looking at me directly as I smiled at her hoping she'd come to our table.) She did not return.
A simple "sorry I can't help you" or "this is not my area" would have sufficed as I understand the demands of the job can be tough, especially when busy or dealing with difficult customers, (but we weren't one of those.) Had I known we would get no service in the pub lounge area (we were in the booths in front of the kitchen) I would have gone to the main restaurant area. In addition, my partner was also ignored when he tried to politely get the waitstaff's attention. In the end, we got a takeaway container from a helpful kitchen staff member. Hallelujah!
For anyone reading this: food is top notch but service is non existent. Try your luck in the main restaurant area if you don't want to be treated rudely.
To the hotel food management (if you're reading this), please put on a waitstaff person specific to this dining area as we were paying, seated customers who were ignored several times; or train your walk-by staff to be a bit kinder to customers, even if it's to inform us that they can't be of assistance.)

A great addition to the Fremantle CBD. Enjoyable range of beers on tap, along with some great spirits and wines for all palates.

Half price mains and bingo on Thursday nights! Great fun and the food was delicious. For $12 and $14 each we had the pulled beef burger and lamb shoulder. Both were cooked perfectly, it just took about 40 minutes to come as it was very busy. Try not to sit near the end of the bar as the smell of basement is awful when the hatch is open.

$15 pizzas on Wednesday. Terrible. Barely any toppings. Complained to the chefs and was told “that’s what you get for $15 pizzas…” The waitstaff were lovely however. Very disappointing.

Nice looking pub - food was good - Friday night had half price steaks which were cooked well - no complaints.
Pub grub and a pint - the perfect location in Freo

I usually like the food here but tonight we waited 45mins for food and it was served just off cold. If they were packed is understand but it wasn't very busy. Not fun.
Parmi is always a good option, pie in the winter menu is tasty but small in the serving and filling for the price.
Average drinks, usual prices. Comedy is always great

Nice pub, great beer and great staff. The food we had was ok (steak sandwich and the beefburger) but to be honest, not special enough to go back for again anytime soon. The serves were also disappointingly small. Prices are consistent with a pub in Freo.

Nice food but our night was ruined by poor RSA. A group of 10 next to us had clearly had too much to drink and was being obnoxious and intimidating. One person from the group kept getting rounds from the bar for the whole group. We had to leave as we felt unsafe.
