Dôme Café - Byford reviews
36Food was average eggs were under cooked with very runny whites. Had to ask to get hollandaise sauce heated up. The waitress was not very happy about this she grabbed the saucers and stormed off with a bad look on her face and not a word. Fire place is lovely and lighting. Floors, chairs, walls & tables could do with a very good clean.
A lovely, two storey DOME with al fresco and balcony seating. Clearly very popular with locals. DOME menu and high standards of service and cleanliness
First time to dome at this location and was delighted with the look of the restaurant, a little out of the way but that just adds to this site, staff were friendly and attentive caramel slice and coffee were perfect. Looking forward to visiting again
The fish was so thin it honestly looked as though they took the fillet and sliced it in two. It was dry and over cooked. The dome used to be good. I wont be going back there.
The guy that cleared our table etc was such a lovely delightful person. So friendly. The only downside was it wasnt really busy for a friday night and we waited so long for our food.
No scrambled eggs though on the menu. Fruit toast over cooked and crunchy. Wasnt very happy.
Waited to be asked my order was ignored and then another staff member jumped in and put her order on ahead of me I just walked away discussed in the bad service.i work in the service industry and would never treat a customer like this
Weekday lunch. We ordered one bowl of chips and drinks. The drinks came promptly the chips turned up 40 mins later and after me having to chase up the order. Meanwhile customers came and then got their food, we were still waiting, and it was not even busy. When the chips turned up they were tepid. No apology, just " oh yeah" and a shoulder shrug. Not impressed!
The garden with the decking is superb.
Always shady and tended to a very high degree.
The Dome service is like most others.
The jazz music piped in maybe attempting to recreate the hiatus of a New York, or big city, cafe maybe, yet can be intrusive if too loud and disturbs the peaceful sensation of the heavy limbed red gums oeacefully sucking up water from the brook.
It took a bit over an hour for our food to come & it arrived cold, and the store wasn’t that busy either.every other time i’ve come here it’s been really good with time & food, so was a bit disappointed.staff was super nice though:)
Always sang the praises of this Dome as the best I have been to, but today has been an exception. Ordered cappuccino (extra hot), why is this so difficult, and a savoury muffin. Coffee came out 10 minutes before the muffin, which defeats the purpose of asking for it to be extra hot. I was told the muffin had to be heated, but when it finally arrived it was too hot to eat, plus hard from over heating. Muffins DO NOT need to be heated.
Consistently good simple food. Great service. Nice place to sit and have a glass of wine in the evening too.
Closed on a Friday night. There were 5 of us, another family of 4. As we were leaving another family of 5 pulled up. Obviously they don’t need the revenue.
Bit disappointing to go for coffee and cake and there are only a few options left in the cabinet at 630pm. So do not recommend for evening catch-ups. Also ordered around 7.15, by 7.45 hadn't received everything (larger group). Told the waiter what we were missing, he was great, and did his best. Only got our last items 2 min before 8 (closing), yet at 8 a different manager came upstairs to tell us they are closing, no regard for the fact we hadn't been able to eat/drink our stuff yet.
Plenty of room, clean, polite and helpful service. Mezzanine as well as ground floor areas.
Good food and drinks fairly priced.
Plenty of parking and easily accessed by steps or with a wheelchair.
Really lovely, polite and quick service, quiet enough booths to be one on in an interview that we were there for. It could always be a bit on the cheaper side however overall a simple, nice night out with my husband for a meeting with a professional.
For a place that's whole purpose is to provide x-amount of people with food they do a very bad job. Even before the virus the kitchen was unable to provide food in a timely matter. It's not like they didn't know they would be opening up again today and that the chances are it was going to be busy, and still we were left waiting for an hour for toast and hash browns. Needless to say we cancelled and went to a local cafe Hani's who had our food ready within 10 minutes. The kitchen needs a complete rework Dome and no the virus is not a good excuse.
Food is good, clean and comfortable. My only gripe would be, to serve the members of the table around the same time. I've had frequent meals with a friend and we have been served our order at staggered times. We end up eating separately or finishing our brekky without a coffee.
I have been a fan of Dome for a long time and this new location in Byford is great. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, nice upstairs area (including lift access) and great service.
So good to have a nice relaxing place to chill out. Coffee was nice and staff were friendly. They were even able to cater to keto which is helpful.
