I’ve been going here for 5-years with 7 pets. I’d give zero stars if that was an option.

My dog went from perfectly normal to lying on the floor trembling and unable to get up or hardly move in the space of about 2-hours. I called the emergency vet on duty at Dog Rock Vet just before 7am desperate to get her seen by a vet in case it was life threatening. The vet wouldn’t see her and wouldn’t even squeeze out 10-minutes between the morning’s appointments to see her.

I reminded the vet that this was the emergency number, it was after hours, and I felt this was an emergency. I’m disgusted that my vet told me, as my dog was lying there with what turned out to be over 39 degree fever and severe infection and inflammation, to give her a pain killer and not to come in until the next available appointment nearly 3- hours later.

Instead, I loaded my dog into the car and called Lockyer Vets’ emergency number and spoke to a vet nurse who gave support and a plan. They bent over backwards to offer options and to get her seen asap and I wasn’t even their client. I got her seen at Albany Vet Hospital whose vet squeezed me in straight away after opening. I had to carry my dog in she could no longer walk.

Dog Rock vet, my vet, showed no compassion and I believe was negligent as a qualified vet. It could have cost my dog her life. I won’t trust my pets’ lives with a vet like that.

Postnote: my dog is 13. She’s my best mate. She’s recovering now and responded well to antibiotics and anti inflammatory medication. It’ll take a bit longer but she’ll get there. Still don’t know what caused it. Thank you so much to Albany Vet Hospital and the emergency vet nurse at Lockyer Vet. Awesome service, switched on and very responsive. I recommend you go to either of those instead.

My best friend and I just needed his vaccines updated, the vets eyes were straight on me and the interrogation began.
-Why did you get this breed?
-People just get them because there cute.
-How big is your property?
-He’ll be too big to control for someone your size.it seemed like the vet was doing an assessment on me as an owner.
I socially struggle and felt he didn’t consider any of my responses and kept with his views that this was a regretful purchase.
My MALE partner and I (I feel like I have to specify that) did our research and made our selection accordingly.
My partner will take him in for his future visits and will answer everything for them to their satisfaction.
I feel small and shameful and I’m left doubting my abilities.

Small girls with large breed dogs I recommend somewhere else.

Just had to single out Vanessa for a special mention today, she's all smiles, welcoming and looked after our boy Nashi so well, she probably went over and above to make sure he was happy. So thanks Vanessa, keep up the fantastic customer service. Thanks also to Dr Byjarni for thinking outside the box and diagnosing our doggie with a thryoid problem (no other vet has thought of it). He's so much happier now

We took our staffy Stella to this clinic after our vet of many years was fully booked and could not see her Dr Bjamu was a delight to deal with, he explained the problem was an Adenoma on her lower eye lid causing irritation and booked her in for removal under anaesthesia within a few days. The whole experience was handled with professionalism and consideration of both our selves and our dog. We will be continuing to visit this clinic in future when we need to. Stella recovered without any incident within a couple of days.

My dog had a growth removed _ I also inquired if they did assisted steralisation for feral cats which they no longer do,
Biarni is by far the best vet there, many of my friends have left dog rock for varying reasons mainly that is it run as a commercial enterprise opposed to when the previous owner Tony Dent was there, he would allow customers to pay off accounts and his fees were significantly lower

We highly recommend this practise. The team are friendly, caring and professional. Diesel dog can be ‘ tricky’ to treat, however they listen and adapt to ensure he gets the care he needs. We recently had to have our dear Kiki dog put to sleep. The team did everything they could for Kiki & our family to ensure it went as smoothly as possible. The compassion and kindness they showed towards our family was extraordinary. We are so grateful.

My puppy, Matilda, experienced a poisoning over the long weekend and I can not praise the treatment of, my Pup, myself and dogsitting children by Vet, Dave, more highly. He was measured in his approach and did everything possible for the best outcome of which we got. Matilda is energetic and looking back to her ol self today.
Cost look more like a weekday, business hours charge.
Highly recommend Dog Rock Vet Clinic

I've had great experiences with Dog Rock vet clinic. I've had two consults with Dr Mike for different conditions with my dog since moving to Albany this year, along with talking to vet nurses at the clinic.

I'd describe myself as a relatively demanding, overprotective pet owner who knows just enough about veterinary care to be a difficult client. It's refreshing to have a vet be fine to work with this from the get-go, in a friendly and personable manner.

In consultation, Dr Mike was excellent at explaining the rationale for his recommendations, involving me in the decision process regarding a growing lump in a position where my dog's car harness is rubbing.

I'd already had some idea of what *may* be needed as a former vet nurse of many years. However, Dr Mike was able to remove unnecessary steps, explaining that they were costly but wouldn't necessarily provide useful treatment information. Once again, in a way that didn't feel dismissive.

After being told an estimate for the surgery I wanted, I asked for the "add-on" of IV fluids. I was pleasantly surprised to find they were included as standard for all general anaesthetics.

I can't say how happy this made me. I know personally how much difference IV fluids make in anaesthetic risk and recovery after a procedure.

A vet clinic that has this model of "best practice" as standard, rather than an add-on option is definitely high on my recommended list.

I'll likely provide an update to my review after the surgery if needed, or if I see other vets at the practice, as this will give more information for those looking for a vet clinic for complete pet care.

Update: surgery went brilliantly. I was impressed with technique, veterinarian communication, anaesthetic recovery and surgical site healing. My dog received excellent care, pain relief and post-surgery experience. Invoice was slightly over initial estimate, only because another lump was discovered and removed, with my consent. Overall very happy.

Highly recommend this team of professionals. Considerate, compassionate and highly knowledgeable. I rang up in a state of panic and was seen straight away. My pooch is a highly anxious boy and they handled him perfectly.

Terrific practice and certainly better value than Perth, half the cost. Our dog loves grass with zero and this is the second poisoning. Anyway Vet Mike fixed her up, squeezed her into a very tight schedule just before Christmas. Many thanks, so professional.
