I came in to see Dr Chris Hayes for stomach, chest and upper and lower arm acne. Without even requesting any blood tests or telling out any autoimmune conditions that may have been causing the issue he started with. "you only have 2 options, accutane or antibiotics, but antibiotics most likely won't work ". I have already been prescribed antibiotics by my gp and they didn't work.my gp tasted me for various issues himself and that's why he recommend a dermatologist to try and figure out the cause of the problem so that we can fix the issue. Could it be autoimmune, could it be a different type of infection, there is presence of systemic inflammation. Dr Hayes reply was. It's just acne, oil clogging pores. 260$ please. Yes I understand that the symptom is acne my gp already diagnosed it but what's the cause? It's not normal to have this on your under forearms, if there is no infection present on smere (again performed by my GP) what is the cause? Why no tests no more swabs for other bacterial or perhaps a test for a viral cause or perhaps some sort of folliculitus? I had to ask him all of this and he basically just said there is no cause it's just acne and only way to get rid of it is accutane, antibiotics won't cure it, I had accutane before and it caused major side effects and was hoping to figure out the cause behind the acne. Even mentioned that my gp can prescribe all the antibiotics himself, and he mostly just prescribed accutane (something that the GP couldn't do). Basically back to square one without any tests or samples or anything. Felt so rushed the entire consultation which lasted less then 10mins. Seems to me that this dermatologist makes significant commission of Accutane. Very disappointed, will not return to this dermatologist and waste another 260$

I can't vouch for any of the other doctors but I was really happy with Dr Heyes. Very thorough, professional and explained things well and clearly.

Dr Chan is a superb surgeon and a nice person to boot! Have been seeing him for years now, can’t be happier.

I’m not sure about the other dermatologists at this clinic but I’m more than unsatisfied with my experience with Dr Sadler. I have now ended up with a scar much worse than before the previous one was removed and no remorse was showed from her.

Dr. Chua is the worst doctor you can imagine. My wife and my daughter went into the practice this afternoon. They are left waiting for 1 hour at the appointment time has been confirmed and they were early by 10 mins just as asked. Then Dr. Chua was trying to rush things so much, didn't even care about our little girl and my wife's feeling. I had positive from this practice before, but I will make sure next time I come back it won't be Dr. Chua.

Put me on Roacutane, got rid of my achne forever, Dr. Chua was very pleasant I ask him a lot of question which he answered and even wrote down the ones I was surly going to forget, also receptionist are nice. Yes they are somewhat quick to get you in and out but that's because they are usually busy during certain periods of the day

Have been bounced around a number of other dermatologists who seemed only interested in continuing PUVA or popping pills. Moving here has opened up a number of other solutions/remedies and i couldnt be happier. A real case of finally finding someone who gives a damn compared to the others

Dr J Chan has looked after myself and my brother through Acne issues and prior to us he looked after our Mum. We would all highly recommend him and have always trusted him. He is a professional and not Skin or Mole Clinic GP, as the sign says he is a Qualified Skin Specialist and I feel sorry that Skin Check have used his site to advertise their practice SHAME

WHatever you do, do not go to this clinic for a skin check. My Dr referred me to Dr Chan for a " comprehensive" skin check for skin cancers. I queried a large red mark on my calf, bigger than a 5 cent piece and he said it was nothing. He barely checked any of my skin and then removed a squamois cell on my arm, this was all done in 15 mins and without help of a nurse. I was in terrible discomfort from my wound and when bandage came off I saw why, he had done a really tight stitch in centre if the wound to being the wound together, had he had a nurse she could have held it together. The end result was my arm is now puckered. When I told him he rushed the job (he was running down the hallway in between waiting for anesthetic to work squishing in patients) he told me to just massage it with bio oil, two years later it is still, puckered. His report back to my gp of my supposed comprehensive test was he removed scc, patient has " bccs all over the place" very professional!
Due to his incompetent manner the following year I had my annual skin check by another Doctor. I pointed out the red mark on my leg which had not got any biggef but had not gone away. She said her mantra was when in doubt check it out and did a punch biopsy. I had two bccs on my back. " Not all over the place"
Pathology showed the mark on my leg was a melanoma and that I had had it awhile. I was in shock. I had it removed within three days the scar is about 12 cm long, Dr Henry Law from Skin Check did the most amazing job, you can barely see the scar and there is no puckering whatsoever.
Ive complained to Dr Chan and he didnt even have the decency to say sorry, he certaonly didnt admit he rushed things when he clearly did, he blamed me for not going back the following month, which is a complete lie because He never advised me to do so, had he, I would have told him I cant I am already booked to go iverseas and I wint even be in Australia.
I have reported matter to ARPRA and I plan to domas much as I can to make him accountable.
We as patients pay a lot of money and put our trust in " speciialists" we do not expect to come away from a skin check with the all clear and find out that they have missed a melanoma, particularly when I pointed it out to him.
How many if Dr Chans patients are getting on with their lives thinking their skin is fine and they have a melanoma growing away.they are tickimg time bombs.
Do yourselves a favour and go to Skin Check and do not go to Dr J Chan
