Decanter reviews
63Had an absolutely gorgeous day at Decanter with the Bottomless High Tea, Prosecco was good quality the food amazing, and lots of "don't eat before" great value. We stayed on for some cocktails and a share plate to end off a very nice day. The high tea is great the service A1.
The atmosphere in this place is pretty decent, but their food and service are lacking. The coffee for their brunch opening had a subtle taste of either off milk or cleaning solution. Stay away from the beef nuggets sandwich on the brunch menu.
THIS REVIEW IS NOT FOR THE BREAKFAST MENU
This place used to be awesome before their 'revamp'. Every seat used to be full and the atmosphere was awesome. When we went we were 2 out of the total 7 people in the restaurant, and we were presented with a menu that was literally an A4 sheet of paper that wasn't even laminated.
The menu apart from being a single sheet of paper was hard to decide on because there were no images and the overly simplistic food descriptions made me go to their instagram to figure out what was on the menu.
It has to be stated that the food is still good and the staff are nice, they are friendly and help with whatever they can.
But it just feels like Decanter has lost its identity. Doesn't make sense to advertise BBQ as part of the menu when their ribs are only available for two days in the week, unlike the old menu that had a separate place on the menu for smoked meats. It feels lonely in the restaurant and the food seems very 'fine dining' to me instead of fun.
Hope something changes I miss this place.
Went here this morning for mothers day breakfast. Food was great, the pancakes were absolutely divine! Got a complimentary piece of cake beautifully decorated with flowers and fig, which was a very nice touch. Service was prompt and friendly. Would recommend.
The menu made no sense at all. The waiter couldn't explain what the menu items were. No meals as such, that I could tell. Had a small salad. Which consisted of lettuce, and a few bits of apple and pear.
Came here recently for some casual drinks and very much enjoyed it. The place is nicely furnished and the service is excellent. I did think the tables to be a bit close together and in odd layout, but it was still ok and didn't seem to ruin the vibe.
Wine selection is great, but I found the beer and cider options to be very limited.
We didn't have food, but the menu looked good and I'll be keen to come back to try some food options.
I had a big breakfast.it was very good.i like their potato, ciabatta, bean.also, the sausage, i dont like the taste, but the texture was very good.my partner ordered a pancake.it is good,
the pavlova (icecream shape) is also good.will come back again.recommend to try
Definitely order the birria birria, absolutely delicious. Such good value for money as well! Highly recommend
Was not a pleasant experience at all. Starters were fine, but mains arrived after an hour, without apology or warning that food was going to take that long to be served. Brisket & biria biria tacos were disappointing, regretted waiting & holding on to the promise that food was “coming soon. ” Seriously, if you’re going to make diners wait for this long, at least apologise or warn us. In most restaurants the wait would be 20-30 mins longest & it would be worth it. This wasn’t - brisket was dry & no smoked flavour; tacos too oily & shredded beef had no flavour as well - did not taste the cilantro or other spices promised. Been yearning to try this place, but now I know I won’t be coming back. Thanks for the experience, but no thanks. Very bad
15% surcharge for public holiday is expected and would be fine, except we waited over an hour for our food, and it wasn't great either, bacon was overcooked, and so was the crepe, hard to chew.
Quality of service and food was very good. Atmosphere was a little noisy but would thoroughly recommend
Soufflé pancakes were too sweet for me, but the others liked them. I would come back and try some of the other options.
It is a favourite of ours, good food, reasonable service and generally a good atmosphere. The only observation we have is that they could do something with the lighting. It’s quite “bright” and resembles more of a food hall than a dining experience. On our very first visit the lighting was more mood inspiring and soft, it would be good if it could be that way again.
It’s been so long since we’ve had great service and food options that actually blow away expectations. Everyone was very kind and well trained, the food was incredibly delicious, fast to arrive, and great costings on each dish. After staying at Crown all weekend where everything was overpriced and under-delivered this made our weekend! Must try the pancakes and eggs Benny Mac n cheese.
Really small food menu now compared to what it used to be.
Food average Desert average
1st Cocktail I tried was awful.
Definitely try somewhere else
Had the Mac and Cheese Benedict. Absolutely superb, it was cheesy without being stodgy, beautifully crisp on the edge, with perfectly cooked poached eggs and bacon.
Really amazing.
It was lovely to be seated so quickly and the view was pretty. The cushions on the seat were actually extremely comfortable. There was some very basic cocktails but a huge selection of scotch. The food came quickly and the entrees were lovely. The only slight indifference comment would be the cocktails came out a bit slower than expected, however the watermelon daiquiri was definitely worth the wait.
Went for Brunch with my wife on a Sundayo to specifically have the Pancake Soufle. The place was busy on a Sunday Morning and looked like they had sufficient staff to cope with the activity. Without going into details, this was our experience on that morning.
- Waited 30 minutes before one coffee eventually arrived.
- Had to remind the staff that we ordered 2 Coffees of the same
- Second coffee arrived 10 minutes later
- Both Coffees were served in Plastic Cups
- Had to make 3 Request for water & glasses to be brought to our table
- Food finally served one hour after being seated
- Table next to us left in discust
- Other tables were also complaining on the delay of servcie
Whilst the food was nice and Coffees average, the service was simply atrocius.
NEVER AGAIN!
Like most places atm they are short of staff so hard to do the best service. But the food is always the best.
Went for brunch, had the D I. Y mac and cheese with the pork belly and prawns, the prawn where do flavourful and the pork belly was moist and tender. Had the old fashioned cocktail, which was delicious, one of best I've had in a while. Can't wait to bring my family here for the dinner menu.
