Cheela Plains reviews
43 For what it is, a station stay in the middle of nowhere, it’s the best of what could be nothing. Station hosts were extremely accommodating, the staff were friendly and the food was good station tucker.
After a long days drive, I didn’t expect much but was surprised how everything wasn’t too difficult and it all fell in to place.
The station is a good break up with little kids between Exmouth and Karijini.
Nice spot for an overnighter. Staff are great and amenities good. Not much to do. Gorge/mussel pool is a good spot for a swin. Community kitchen is also good.
Great place to settle in for a few days with family. Looking forward to our next trip ere already. Love it
Excellent visit that we came back for more! Enjoyable stay with young family.
Stay, Showers and toilet was immaculate, even higher standards than some other accomodation in Karijini. The team were phenomenal at Cheela Plains especially camp hosts Suzi, Colin and Janine who were most hospitable.
Nightly camp fires were a daily attraction for campers from 530 onwards. Campers spoilt with either burger nights or a sit down dinner which was delicious after a day of travelling or exploring the area.
Speak to the camp hosts and do explore the area - Mussel pool is a must visit in the area for the day!
Well done and thank you to the team at Cheela for the enjoyable stays.
Nice place to stop of on the way to karijini from ningaloo. Very remote and peaceful station experience. The one complaint is no dump point at the camp site itself.so you'll need to drive a couple of kilometers back up to the free campsite on the main highway to use the public one there which is annoying as I can't remember being warned about this when booking the site or on the website at all.
Arrived in 2wd drive.no issues for roads. Stayed just two days and thoroughly enjoyed it. Good vibe. Friendly staff. Good facilities. Grass for relaxing (real treat). Nightly around fire get togethers. Good dinners available if wanted. Cafe for coffee and yummy carrot cake (a treat when you are over 200km from another cafe!).
Another section for visiting or camping is 22kms away - so you can go for “cushy” or “remote” (a toilet and natural pool available in remote).
Highly recommend Cheela Plains.
Excellent camp hosts (Suzi and Colin when I was there).
Hidden Gem tucked away. Wonderful surprise when you come over the hill to this little piece of paradise. Amenities rustic and very clean, plenty of space in shower cubicle. Green central lawn. Fantastic easy hill climb for beautiful views. Cafe with the best tasting carrot cake (you can buy a whole one if staff are given plenty of notice) Do the self drive to Beasley Gorges with a $20 key bond, additional access costs per person if only staying overnight. Reception staff professional and knowledgeable, cafe staff very friendly and outgoing. Dont drive past, drop in for morning tea, you won’t be disappointed.
Enjoyed our stay. Good facilities. Except no gas BBQ. Could do with more showers and toilets. Sunset walk and the gorges amazing. Would definitely come back again. Carrot Cake a winner.
We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were very helpful in fitting us in after I messed up my booking and booked for the wrong month.the central grassed area was great for the kids.
We weren't all that taken with the coffee in the cafe which was $5 for a nespresso pod coffee.
I was suggested by a friend to stop at that café on the way to Karijini and grab the carrot cake, that was a great recommendation!
I wasn't expecting anything but I was very surprised by the station and impressed by the cleanness of the cafe and bathroom.
There's some old big mining trucks that are parked at the back.
The campground is very well kept too. Awesome place in the middle of nowhere
A great place to stay when travelling from Perth “Up North” – simple but clean accommodation. Fantastic service and food. Really friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Really enjoyed our brief time there.
Such a friendly social place for a stopover. Chance to meet and chat with fellow campers at communal restaurant and night campfire. Clean efficient and friendly staff. Even got up close and personal to a cattle muster. Would definitely come again.
Great spot and lovely hosts.the camp kitchen meal was great after a long drive and you get to mingle with all your other travellers.
We absolutely LOVED, LOVED, LOVED our stay there! From the minute we left the main road, entered their gate, it was only about 900m of gravel road up over a small hill looking down onto the station. On the right was the workshop with a Telstra Booster and on the left their Red Plains Cafe. Directly ahead, the Reception area. As we had booked a powered site, we were quickly shown on the camp site map where to locate our site. In the middle of the camp is a huge grassy area which has a children’s sand pit. Around this grassy area are the powered van and camper sites which have the luxury of resting on wonderfully clean pebble like stones. The camp kitchen, laundry, toilets and showers are all conveniently situated on the outskirts of the grassy area. The station Manager Milo is just a sweetheart, however rather noisy when she can’t see her mum! The camp hosts Dave and Trish who we understood were only there for 7 weeks had such an immense wealth of knowledge about the station we thought they had been there for years. Later in the afternoon of our first day, we decided to do the 4x4 trail and went to chat to Dave about organising it. After sitting down with Dave, we made a decision to do the trail at 8am the following morning. It certainly was well worth the effort as Dave explained, The Wall is magnificent and we have the photos to prove it. Finches and budgies in their thousands on this station for those avid bird lovers. We meet a lovely South African couple Ray and Maureen who we swapped contacts with and sure hope to stay in touch with them in the future. The overall ambiance was superb and to say the least, we will definitely be going back.
Loved our stay here felt like home for us nice camp fire at night time few drinks around it with good company little calf wondering around for the kids to look at and pat
Amazing place to visit. It is a Do not miss. Venue clean and tidy, service was engaging and made the stay. Dinner together with other guests was a cracking night.
It feels like you're in the middle of nowhere but you can have the comfort of hot showers and camp kitchen, along with air-conditioned rooms and catered dining. Not too far to Beasley gorge and fabulous outback swimming. Great hosts.
Great place to camp. Nice lawn area for tents. Decent camp kitchen, small but good toilet/showers.
They have a few walking tracks around the camping area with a good view at sunset.
They were able to help me out with a bit of fuel for my bike too.
Would stay again.
Well kept really great place. Lots of open spaces. Lovely walk up a gorgeous well kept path, perfect place to see the sunset. Very friendly staff. Had a great talk on the stars and our solar system etc last night, was really interesting and totally free
Absolutely lovely stay.loved it and must be our favourite.an absolute must do driving to or from the Karijini national park
