46 Something is wrong with the cafe’s exhaust system. You can literally be soak in cooking smell dining there.
Lor mee broth was watery, comment saying thick broth from where? Took the longest time to serve even you are the only customer around.
The operator need to put alot of heart into this business to make it work. You have sg/msian food people would want to eat but your cafe set up with the exhaust not working will not be inviting. Service is as important as you initially enthusiastically took over the business.
I didn’t even finished my food as too put off by the cafe smell staining your whole body having dine there. Don’t you feel for your dine in customers?
CS Cafe has been on my radar for some time. Everything that I have heard about the Singapore/Malaysian food has been very positive.
We were especially intrigued by the Singapore-style laksa (very unlike the curry laksa found here) that had the option of cockles, an ingredient that has been noticeably missing when we did find a Singapore laksa.
The laksa was as good as any I've had in Singapore and came with plump cockles, a vast improvement on the tiny ones served over there.
We also had Singapore-style oyster omelette (made with some sweet potato flour) that came with large and juicy oysters. We were especially impressed by the very authentic chilli sauce.
Service was very good. We found free parking outside the cafe at about 11 on a rainy weekday.
Credit cards are accepted and there is disabled access.
There's a crispy version of the oyster omelette that I'm keen to try.:)
I ordered a takeaway order of the vegetarian nasi lemak. Service was average, no smile or greeting but acknowledged me with a menu. The food was made fast. It was a below average nasi lemak, the vegetarian anchovies were the best part. They used basmati rice which left the dish feeling very dry. There wasn't very much sambal and it was also very dry. The two pieces of fried chicken were tasty and different but small. I paid $17.20 for this nasi lemak which I don't think was worth it. I was not verbally notified about the 30c surcharge before paying too. It was worth more than the chicken nasi lemak which is the first I've ever seen on a menu. Nice that there was a couple vegetarian options on the menu though
The radish cake was alright, but the nasi lemak and laksa were kind of disappointing. The nasi lemak had too much coconut milk in the rice, and the chicken portion was tiny. The laksa didn't have the usual tasty blend of spices.
The service was rushed and inattentive, and the place smelled of oil due to poor ventilation. Overall, it didn't feel like it was worth the money. On top of that, a waiter accidentally bumped into my 2-year-old son's high chair, upsetting him for the rest of the meal.
Food is very average and coffee is HORRIBLE. Not enough staff so we need to wait for a while to put our order. Definitely not worth to go bk again.
Just had Lor Mee special for today only. Delicious, the thick broth was so full of flavour and coated noodles, roast pork, fish cake, fried fish and egg with every mouthful.
I like the food here, authentic and home cooked type flavour. Not the cheapest Asian eatery but fair for the quality and I am happy to support a small local business.
Relatively new addition to the area. The cafe has a small menu offering western and Asian breakfast and lunch options. Taste is on point and portions are reasonable. There's even dessert on offer. Will recommend a visit!
I had the most beautiful dish on Saturday rice noodle Singaporean dish with the freshest prawns. It was delicious and not spicy
Well located off canning highway, with its own parking available. It gets crowded pretty fast and the food is nice. Prawn noodles is definitely worth trying. Braised pork rice and nasi lemak are decent.
Teh tarik is the instant kind one though.
Its a small family run cafe so variety of asian dishes is limited. Im disappointed that the carrot cake is charred as you can see from the picture but i didnt wan to kick up any fuss so i didnt check with the chef. But the curry chicken with prata is nice suits the palate of my fussy husband
Radish cake is a must try. Authentic taste. Soft inside and thin crispy crush on the outside.
Authentic hawker food.laksa-> came complete with laksa leaves.and raddish cake -> perfect texture / lard included.they were spot on!
Food is ok, but I went at 12.30pm and they said they closed the kitchen? What's the point of opening a shop that closes during peak hours. Doesn't abide by their opening hours.
Discovered this neat little cafe that serves Singaporean food. Bought their black fried carrot cake and chicken rice.
The black CTK was excellent. Fried beautifully and enough flavour and tasty.
Chicken rice was ok. If the rice is more fragrant will be nicer. But their chilli is power.
Will have to return to try their other dishes
Some dishes like the fried carrot cake and Rojak were enjoyable for the longing Singaporean/Malaysian senses. However some others like the nasi lemak disappointed through the unbalanced sambal, dry coconut rice and lack of oiliness and aroma that should come from deep fried anchovies and peanuts. However I’m sure that all this can be improved with some good customer feedback. I’m always grateful to cafes like CS that try their best to bring some old Asian favorites to Perth. It’s quite an effort running a cafe so thanks for doing it and working hard to improve.
Authentic Singaporean food cooked by fellow Singaporeans. Best Black Radish cake in Perth, even my mum agreed.
Pricing is fair to us though it is subjective to others. Portion is just right for us though it is still subjective as some others might have bigger appetite.
I am glad I found this little cafe that can satisfy my craving for authentic Singapore Laksa and Black radish cake. The owner is friendly and does her best to provide good customer service.
We should support small business if possible as they are trying their best to provide the services to the customers while struggling with staff shortage.
Absolutely lovely coffee, nasi lemak and fried raddish cake. Staff members are always friendly. Good value for money
Very small portion dishes. Had their Singapore laksa, stir fry chai tao kueh, chicken rice and take away nasi lemak which is relatively small portion but slight expensive. Overall taste was ok however I don't think I will be back unfortunately
Good food, but the potion is small.paid AUD prices but SG size, especially the Laksa & the Kway Chap as well, just few pieces of meats in both dishes with other condiments). We all have to order 2nd dishes to fill up, I hope they would increase the serving. Fried Radish Cake (菜头粿) is good.
