Zia Teresa Restaurant

Been past this place hundreds of times but we were tempted in by their $30 pasta and wine special on a Wednesday.

Overall it was okay and I’d been keen to give it another try but we were left a little disappointed by the amatriciana in particular. They opted for pancetta over guanciale which was mistake no. 1, but then they were pretty stingy with the meat in dish, plus the pasta was a bit past al dente. Sauce was okay but didn’t have the kick or depth of flavour that you’d expect.

4 formaggi gnocchi was pretty good - gnocchi was nice and fluffy, although I do prefer them pan fried.

Paired the pasta with a couple of Sangiovese’s which were quite good.

Overall okay but didn’t quite hit the mark, especially when you’ve got a litany of other good options for Italian food nearby.

Pasta was fantastic and service was amazing by a young lady. Was our first time and will be back with friends

We arrived a bit past 9.30pm on a Friday night, the kitchen and waiter were lovely enough to accommodate one more booking before closing for the night. Food was delicious! Service was great! Thanks!

What an amazing place, coming to visit my son and saw the menu and decided to book.
From entree to mains to dessert was the authentic flavours of Italy Mushroom aranchini balls, the antipasto, mains of rabbit, goat and pork with fresh vegetables to the tiramisu was a sensational taste journey through Italy.
Atmosphere beautiful sitting by the fire and our waiter Riven was an absolute pleasure sharing their nonna sourced recipe story. Will definitely be back.

We travel 40km (most weekends) to eat at Zia’s place, the traditional Italian menu is well thought out. You will be torn between some beautiful dishes, if you find yourself unsure all staff are well versed on each dish and will be sure to help you make a decision. Beyond the food, it’s relaxing and entertaining so that conversation and celebration can continue on. Thanks Tony (and the Zia team) for always going above on beyond when my self and Sheryl visit most weekends.

If you enjoy delicious authentic traditional Italian food - this is the restaurant you must visit.

The food, atmosphere and service in this restaurant is fantastic. The lasagna and four cheese gnocchi in particular is absolutely delicious! It’s definitely a favourite place that I look forward to revisiting again.

I know there are a lot of restaurants that claim to be Italian. This is one of the few that actually is. The menu is reminiscent of traditional Italian cuisine & culture. The flavours are distinct and the atmosphere is as though I was having dinner at my parents place. The service was also fantastic. I will be back for sure.

A traditional Italian restaurant for a special occasion. We came here without a booking on a Friday night and after a few minutes organisation found a table at the very back of the restaurant. If you want the best seats I recommend to book in advance.
The atmosphere is just as it has been since the 1990’s - charming, family oriented, with a a dash of Mediterranean romance. We enjoyed an Aperol spritz cocktail and a glass of Cerasuolo Zaccagnini rosé, and ordered a Caprese Di Bufala (cheese, tomato and basil) entree to share and Spaghetti Misto Mare (seafood marinara) mains. The meals are good value, with well-sized portions. One pasta dish was a little on the oily side, but very tasty, with the pasta cooked the way I like it - just a minute more than al dente. The service was a little slow, but with friendly hosts it is more than acceptable on a Friday night!
We gave a 15% gratuity tip as we were pleased with the service.
Would recommend for a family meal or a quiet date night.

Amazing food great customer service. We had the bruschetta especially made for us which was outstanding the barramundi full of flavour and the lasagna was to die for.

Food was nice. The restaurant is not well ventilated. It has a burnt food smell about it. Also, we had pasta dishes and we were given a knife and fork. Had to ask for spoons. It's an Italian restaurant

Waited well over an hour for gnocchi that was overpriced and bland, didn't even get halfway through before i decided it's not worth the torture

I tried Gnocchi as my main. It would be fair that it has been the best that i have ever tried. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Very friendly staff, ‘homey’ feeling.

Went with a group of 6 and all ordered different pastas. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals, wines and the affogatos were amazing. Staff were attentive and pleasant. Reasonably priced delicious Italian food.

Even after lockdowns and staff shortages in Melbourne, Zia Teresa has maintained an uncompromised level of professionalism and quality of food. I have frequented this establishment for the past 7 years and its consistency of friendly staff and heartwarming food and drinks is amazing. Thank you for another great experience for me and the family.
