Zambrero Balaclava

Ordered on DD yesterday and we’re pretty sure we go sick from our order. Additionally I’m 90% sure there was mint used instead of coriander. Wouldn’t order again.

I asked if it was spicy, staff said no, and would remove the jalapeño's. One bite in and I CAN'T continue! 18$ to garbage! Please freakin learn how to freakin season food! I want to taste food not burn my damn mouth! Ridiculous! Uber disappointed not returning, sorry.

I recently had the pleasure of trying out the newly opened Zambrero restaurant in Balaclava, and it was a delightful experience! As a Feel-Good Mexican eatery, Zambrero brings a unique twist to traditional Mexican cuisine with its focus on fresh, modern, and superfood ingredients, resulting in bold and delicious flavours that truly stand out.
I opted for their signature bowl with chicken filling, featuring a combination of black rice, pinto beans, cos lettuce, guacamole, salsa, jalapeños, and a refreshing squeeze of lime. I must say, every ingredient tasted remarkably fresh and packed with flavour, making it a real treat for my taste buds. The trezigo and chipotle sauces I chose complemented the bowl perfectly, adding an extra layer of deliciousness to the already fantastic mix.
The restaurant also caters wonderfully to vegetarians and vegans, offering adequate options to suit different dietary preferences. The service at Zambrero was exemplary, as the staff was courteous, efficient, and exceptionally helpful during my visit.
The only minor downside I encountered was the portion size. While the flavours were fantastic, I found the bowl to be a tad less filling than I had hoped. Most of the bowl seemed to be covered with lettuce, with a relatively small portion of black rice and beans. It would be fantastic if they could consider balancing the ingredients better to provide a heartier meal.
Overall, Zambrero Balaclava is a gem of a restaurant, offering a unique and refreshing take on Mexican cuisine. I highly recommend visiting this place for a feel-good and flavourful dining experience. With just a little adjustment in portion size, it would be perfect. I'll be returning to explore more of their enticing menu!
