Yim Yam - Yarraville reviews
57Happily surprised with the taste. We ordered Pad Thai, beef & Basil, red & green curries, Yum Yim Yam special and a flat rice noodle dish which was delivered to our motel room in Footscray in about 1 hour from ordering. The portion sizes were good, the taste, spice, & quality we're on point. All in all we very much enjoyed all the dishes we tried from Yim Yam Thai. The only thing that wasn't great, no chopsticks or eating utensils supplied with the order, so we had to use a teaspoon and a coffee cup to eat with in our motel room.
BYO at $2pp is cool. The curries are alright! Service is really bad though, food arriving all out of order, leaving people on the same table waiting ages. Brought the rice out so much later than the rest of the food so that curries had gone cold and oily. Bit of a let down but the price was alright.
I came to this place a while ago and loved it. So as a treat wanted to book in for my friends to have a lovely evening. We booked 3 weeks prior and the staff member noted it down. When we rocked up their computer system was down, which they said was the reason why they didn’t have our booking, yet they had two tables with reserved signs. It seemed that they gave our table away, and so I asked if we could take another table. They said there isn’t another table until tomorrow.
The incompetence and poor service really put a dampener on our evening. Yim Yams, what happened, you used to be so good.
After reading great reviews I thought I'd order from here via Uber eats.
Spent $43 on two curries. Not the cheapest place but I figured it would be good value/quality.
The taste wasn't bad but certainly not the best Thai I've ever had. Very middle of the road.
However the biggest disappointment was the portion size and customer service. For $20 per curry I expected a normal takeaway sized container. It came in small round containers, the massaman was half full and the Penang was 2/3 full.
I thought they were small serving sizes so poured into shallow rectangular takeaway containers to test as I thought I might just be getting fooled by the shape of container. The massaman only half-filled a normal shallow rectangular container.
I called the restaurant and they said manager would call me back later that evening and arrange store credit for a spring roll. I would have been happy with an apology and explanation however I've not received a call (nor anything else) several days later.
Very disappointing.
Food is good. More like Australian/Thai not that traditional. Staff was excellent except the women taking the payment at the end was super rude. Place was very busy good atmosphere just super disappointed at the end to pay and be met with service that was just snarky and rude. She obviously wasn’t from Thailand they have much better manners than this.
Nice little place with good atmosphere and service but best of all amazing food. We loved it and will be going back!
This place is great, delicious Thai food in a simple setting and quality service. If you’re in Yarraville you can’t go wrong here.
The massaman curry is delicious! Best Thai place I’ve ever been too! Only downside is that it can get very loud when it’s busy
The service was slow, there was disconnect with the kitchen and table staff. My main was late and not timed with other main at the table and was missing ingredients and only acknowledged when I raised the issue and said they had ran out.
- ordered two vegan meals and both meals served vegetarian! So upsetting that I don't eat animal products and I consumed this is your restaurant! I was also very sick after this meal because of the egg and dairy in the meal.
- I noticed the egg in the pad Thai after ordering vegan special, however I had taken two mouthfuls as I trusted the food I ordered.
- the red Thai curry I ordered was vegan however after looking at the order it turned out to only be veggie.
- no compensation offered!
- Awful and so devastating!
- also the service was pretty awful, took 20 minutes to take our order in the first place!
- do not recommend!
This place used to be really awesome. I don't know what it is, but over the last 6 months they've progressively gotten worse. We get takeaway, usually cold and at least half hour late now, the last pad Thai we had was inedible and the roti was more like bread than light and fluffy.
Not going here again for a while, breaks my heart.
My first and last visit to this place. I had visited Yim Yam Ascot vale many time and always left that place feeling amazing with the food and service.
However i didnot has the same feeling with Yim Yam Yarraville.
They took us in to the seating area however made us waiting because the host was chit chatting instead of seating us.
Food was good not problem with that, but it was hard to get the attention of the wait staff as she was busy texting on the phone.
I am not going back even if the food was good.
Delicious duck pancake starter. Very generous proportions. Just the pad Thai was a bit dry, otherwise great!
Great food, nice atmosphere and fast service. Only minor issues was dishes came out in an odd order (like curries arriving while we waited for rice) but otherwise lovely.
Amazing food and incredible service. The staff was super nice! Will definitely be going back soon!
Service was below average. Had to call out to wait staff to get their attention and make them aware we were there before others.
I'm over giving excuses that the cook may have been having a bad day. Food was terrible.
I had a chicken and prawn wonton soup. It was too salty. Also, it was entree size which was not mentioned on the menu.
My companion had the coconut rice something or other. That was also over salty. Apparently that dish is Matt Prestons favourite.
So sad to see Yarraville has been taken over by cruddy eating houses.
I'd never go back.
Service is very disappointing, even when there’s enough staff and not many customers. Took them ages to even take my order and it was only after I called them. Even then, the waitress takes her time to come over. Just saw a complete lack of interest in their job.
