Woodlands Homestead reviews
38Luke was a great ambassador and extremely informative as he took us around on a visit to see these magnificent horses and he also made sure we had plenty of time to spend with them. Nothing was rushed and he was happy to answer our many questions. The Homestead is also very interesting and it was great to be able to get our morning coffee fix there, relaxing in such pleasant surroundings. A day to remember!
Woodlands Homestead is a great place to visit. They have the best Devonshire tea in town. Great views. See kangaroos and ex race horses. 1800s homestead.
Didn't do the guided tour, will do one day! Third or fourth visit, what gets me back is the spirit of place and the scones!
Went to have a Devonshire tea which is what they advertised as their specialty. They had run out of scones which was very disappointing as we had driven a distance to come and enjoy what could have been a great experience and beautiful gardens. It isn't hard to make scones so it was hard to understand how you could run out unless the kitchen was just being lazy. Would take a bit of convincing to go back. If you wanted to go for a walk in a beautiful setting then I would recommend the homestead but make sure it isn't too long a walk if you want a cuppa and scones.
In love with the place. The ambience and peace one could experience here is unexplainable. Feeding and mingling with the horses was a reviving experience. The staff - their service adds to the experience. Cafe, horses guided tour and a picnic - it was memorable for us.
Nice place situated on a small hill. Lots of Kangaroos in the surrounding area. Has a nice picnic area
Wonderful place run by volunteers. I love visiting for tea and scones after a walk to see the kangaroos.
Great coffee and food in a lovely dining room. Those planes keep disturbing the peace and calm though, someone should go down the hill and complain to the neighbours!
Woodlands Cafe!
Great atmosphere with an amazing view of the historic landscape! Look up and watch the planes land along the airport run way!
A great visit for the whole family and the little ones as there is acres to explore and take some snap shots of the local living legends thoroughbreds!
Just keep in mind not to feed them
The cafe has a selection of sweets, cakes, pies and pastries and of course their popular scones accompanied well with either tea or coffee.
The venue has a well manicured garden and is also available for event hire!
Plenty of seatings through out and equiped with a function room at the rear!
A visit is worthwhile and has relaxing get away vibe as soon as you enter the gate!
This was my first time place is now getting busy with all the new estates going up they should get more staff. I didn't get half my order and the waitress dropped my coffee all over the table. They were just to buzy there were not that many people in there as well.so many mistakes were made that day. This is why they should get more staff.
Hidden treasure so close to the airport. Dog friendly with great walking tracks. The cafe ️ was great. Had a veggie pastie that was delicious and I could sit in the rose garden watching the planes ️ come in while waiting for my hubby to fly in. Definitely be back. So peaceful
Wow. An amazing place to visit. When we came it was a weekend and we expected it to be full (which we don't like). When we came we almost had a place to ourselves. Just couple of people saying hi and walking their dogs. There's hundreds of kangaroos there to take a photo with. There's a nice cafe too where you can have a rest after a walk. Highly recommended
A beautiful property with lovely walks and loads of kangaroos. Horses can be seen from the tracks but to interact with them you would need to book a tour. We had a lovely day will be back
Lovely place where you have a great view on landing airplanes. Very friendly staff, great coffee and sweets.
What a beautiful place and being a few minutes from home we will be visiting a lot more
During the week a lot less people.lovely gardens.great old homestead.and had a nice lunch.whats not to like!?
The scones with jam and whipped cream are pretty great, but they're pretty much the only reason to come here. They also have a few sausage rolls etc do pretty good hot chips, but nothing to write home about.
It is a great place for kiddies as you can see the horses, and if you go out the back gate you're in the Woodlands park which has great walks and hundreds of wild kangaroos, but the Homestead itself is "eh".
Also not a bad place to watch the planes coming and going from the airport if you're into that.
Nice experience, pleasant staff, several rooms to look at in the homestead itself
Verandah all around to sit for coffee & cake or pies etc (or inside) some outhouses to look at eg shearing shed & iron mongers
A nice walking/biking path through bushland
Also a tour where you can meet & greet ex race horses but l think that you have to pay for that
I personally think it would be nicer in the warmer weather.
Maybe bring some quartered apples & carrots for the horses though lm not entirely sure if the public are allowed to feed them:)
All in all, not a bad afternoon
Cute place, nice property and gardens to walk around or have a picnic. However soy cappuccino was undrinkable (not sure what type of soy milk is used but it tasted terrible), earl grey tea was a twinnings tea bag and both veg pastie and sausage roll were just salty mush. Unfortunate food for such a lovely place
Woodlands Homestead is an absolute gem. Rode the bike along the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail from Jacana Railway Station. Kangaroos, remnant trees, historic buildings (and ruins), retired racehorses, and a delightful cafe.
Nice historical house with cafe and picnic area. Too bad we couldn't have a look inside the house, probably due to Covid.
There are 2 toilets areas, one looks like a single hut with 1 cubicle for each gender. There's a bigger one slightly hidden, just behind the outdoor sitting area in front of the cafe.
