Waurn Ponds Hotel

The staff are so rude I was in shock. Very nasty, bit of bullying going on in the back room that's for sure. Could hear the waitresses talking about my family and I who had done nothing wrong. Everyone horrible and would definitely recommend going elsewhere. Food was absolutely disgusting to say the least.

We had a family reunion there on Saturday 17th April for 29 people and the service and food (finger food) was excellent.
The room (Bisco Alfresco) that was provided was perfect for our needs.
Everyone was very complimentary.

Steak night wednesdays was excellent. All food cooked right and the value is unbelievable. Honestly though I would have been happy to pay full price for the steak as it really was good. Salad good, chips good. Can't fault it but that's all we had was the steak.

Had the steak last night, was as tough as an old boot, vegetables looked like the frozen microwaveable type and where undercooked. Children playground was great though.

Steak was tough, sirlon not best cut for surf and turf. Not the best menu, service was reasonable.

Great meals excellent service nothing was any trouble for them. Was good to be able to get out, they made it easy. Cheers

Very friendly staff and good service. Suitable for all ages, a good inside playground and a separate little Cafe.

Food was fine and majority of staff members were nice. However the lady that seemed to be managing was being short and rude towards us.

From a hospitality back ground, very disappointing. Was seated in a timely manner, waited almost 10 minutes before being asked about drinks and was told about Parma night specials and a beef cheek (not told what it was served with). Ordered a Parma special with another waiter 8 minutes later only to be told “there are no specials tonight”. No one clarified the error or apologised, just said “no”. Meals were okay. Nobody came to check on them (even with 5 staff standing in the bar chatting), couldn’t get anyone’s attention for another drink until they were clearing my plate while my partner ate, again, no one asked how anything was. Pretty dismal experience. I 100% understand COVID is making things hard but the staff really made it feel like if they ignored the patrons, they could get out quicker.

Ordered a Cob Loaf off of the entree menu. Turned out to just be garlic bread. Tried to return the food and was told this was the Cob Loaf. Requested to see the Manager, who was immediately hostile. Service was poor, food was average and overpriced. Would not recommend.

Went for dinner here recently while COVID19 restrictions were in place. The staff were so accommodating and welcomed the very few guests they could have in the venue.

Upon entering the waitress took down our names and numbers for tracing and instructed hand sanitation upon entry. The machine had to be whacked by another worker to dispense soap and we were brought into the large dining hall where there were five other tables and only one other had patrons on it.

Despite lacking in ambience brought by other patrons (at no fault of the venue) the quality of the food and timeliness of service turned the experience around quite quickly.

Chicken schnitzel was enjoyed by the three of us at the table and the waitress was helpful and kind. The only negative was that due to lack of activity in the restaurant I felt like we were being watched by a cluster of wait staff who waited for duties to come up at the main bar.

I would give five stars for my experience given the unique circumstances but I am giving four as I requested a coffee upon finishing my main and the waitress politely mentioned that they weren’t serving coffee - usually a norm when the restaurant is operating at full capacity. I believe the hotel should close off the coffee machine after final rounds have been done or ask the small amount of patrons they have if they want hot drinks.

I would recommend Waurn Ponds hotel to friends and family - I have only attended during a state of emergency and would hope they’re just as good in “normal” circumstances.

We just had a takeaway meal during the Virus. Could not fault just fantastic. Huge meal, look forward to another soon.

Great place to eat, fantastic food, very tasty seasoned well and all for their $13 dinner special

The meals are an issue as the "cooked" vegs are almost raw & the meat in the roast today was more fat than meat.

Friendly staff. Food was excellent price and delicious, generously sized meals. Great play area too, adults can enjoy some peace! Will definitely come back

Wnent waurd ponds hotel for my son 17th birthday had really good time with friends and family the staff were fantastic I can't complain about anything highly recommended

They have the best veal schnitzel in Geelong, all meals are good size and very tasty, happy to recommend the food at waurnpond hotel

Very overpriced $20 for 2 drinks.
Meals aren't that crash hot either.
Go elsewhere.

Sunday roast was the best! Great quality food, beautifully presented, value for money, polite friendly staff, and modern, stylish, and clean facilities. Do yourself a favour!

Misleading information on website when I spoke too staff that day, I was told to contact management myself.
