Get away from a busy day to sit down and be pleased with the delightful taste, glamorous presentation and big smiley faces. I love the place just right at the first meet. It reminds me funky laneways in small hidden away street in Tokyo. Let your heart will melt away. K

Delicious vegan starters and mains. Kitschy decor, great sake and service. Will come back often.

We came in on a Monday evening, sat down for half an hour before staff attended. We had to go to the counter and request someone to take our order. Then after another 40 minutes, food delivered to the people sitting at next table, and they were the 2nd batch of customers on that table since we arrived. We were so angry and asked where our food were. Then started chasing it up, and eventually our food came to the table.

Honestly, it's not traditional Japanese cuisine (one of us is Japanese), more like fusion style, almost all the customers were Caucasian. Only two staff, not attentive or friendly. Although flavor is not bad, we won't return because of the poor service!

Fourth time here and always thrilled by the generous and interesting sashimi poke bowl and swordfish dish. Excellent

Visited this place 9 months ago and gave it 5 stars:)

Visited today and think maybe this place has changed ownership - and lost my love: (
Food is good but they charge a crazy $65 bottle for their only bottle white wine which is just OK but not at $65 for a bottle!

There are better places around Smith Street:)

Sibling to Neko Neko by cuisine, geography and ownership, Wabi Sabi Salon offers a lovely atmosphere and outstanding Japanese food in the heart of Collingwood.

The space can feel a little crammed at times, but the staff make up for it.

Whether you're new or returning, do not miss their Tan-Tan Ramen: that creamy sesame broth is to die for.

Sister restaurant to the popular Neko Neko, Wabi Sabi Salon is slightly less casual. The modern and high quality Japanese cuisine is rather similar with lots of options for vegetarians and gluten-friendly. Price point is also very similar. The Salon is best enjoyed in summer out back in the beer garden - you really feel like you're in a Tokyo alleyway.

I love Wabi Sabi so much! It's healthy and fun and colourful and so tasty. The food is wholesome and affordable for what you get. I recently got a Bento to take away, which isn't composed like a Bento but contains various elements (black rice, crumbed tofu, pickled veg) that could define it as such. Curry on top is optional but highly recommended. Each element on its own has such great flavour already but the combo is even better. For $12, it made a super filling and satisfying lunch.

Over-priced Ramen ($19) that had two small pieces of over cooked tofu, one mushroom and a few bits of corn in it. I think the menu has changed as I’ve had some great meals here in the past. Where has the Bento Box gone?

Quirky place with a good menu. Tofu katsu curry was damn good. Meals were prepared quickly, and service was friendly.

It is a medium size restaurant but only has one waitress. She is busy with Uber eats, taking phone calls.

Came here for lunch and took more than an hour.

Ok, so anyone who loves Ramen needs to check out this place.
Their Prawn Dashi Ramen is out of this world.
Full on Japanese crew, you can really see the difference from wannabes.
They also have vegan ramen, literally love Wabi Sabi and the crew is super friendly.

We went to so many different places while in Melbourne, but no matter what food we ate, it just didn't match up to the food at Wabi Sabi Salon! The absolute highlight of our trip and everything - from the food to the service - was of the highest quality. The dumplings and the sushi were just so different in the best possible way. And the chilled sake was delicious too! Good for vegans, vegetarians, pescatarians and meat-eaters. Something delicious for everyone!

All Vegetarian. Some really interesting plates and on the whole really liked the food. Felt like dishes would be better with hot elements to them. Felt my plate a bit boring all cold/luke warm.
