Wabi Sabi Salon reviews
76Comfortable ambience, colourful tasty food, amazing service from mitsuki helped my mum and grandma 11/10
We order a cheese burger set and grilled salmon set. Honestly it is big disappointment - thought this place is gonna be good seeing all the good reviews.
Cheese burger is extremely salty, grilled salmon is so dry and doesn’t have any flavour. And the side dishes is just very average. Don’t recommend this place.
We found the restaurant by accident in a rush trying to find a place for lunch, the waiter seemed very busy but was patient and provided an explanation of the menu, we ordered a teishoku and it was made with very fresh ingredients and sticky rice, the accompanying cocktails were very good I think it was a yuzu margarita, we had a very good service experience here and I would recommend it to you and your family! They have nice rice wine as well!
Absolutely a hidden gem on Smith Street. Feels like back to Tokyo.a place you can enjoy the most of Japanese foods.
Hidden gem in Smith St! I was not expecting to find such an authentic Japanese restaurant here. The beef yakiniku wrapped in beans and carrots was delicious. It's also great value for money if you order the sets. We enjoyed the homemade Yuzu soda. Staff were warm and friendly.
Okay food. I guess I was expecting too much. All the food were on the salty side. The shoyu ramen broth is not bad and the braised pork is perfectly cook. If you are not a big fan of thick curry, don’t order it. We also order teriyaki teishoku and grilled salmon. Aesthetically pleasing but the portion size is a little disappointing. Also, the side dishes were mainly just carbs nothing special. Not worth the price: (
A really cool zen experience. If you're into small portions and cool experience this is the perfect place. The small dishes offered quite a different taste, personality not really my taste but worth the experience
Love everything about this small, intimate restaurant. Flavour really good (tried the set menu with carrot-wrapped thinned wagyu meat) atmosphere is cool and service is quick! I'll be your loyal customer.
RUDE! Seriously do not spend your money here.worst customer service in melbourne! Everything started out normal, until the staff member told me to take my own plates, water, napkins and menus upstairs.absolutely baffling and confusing as a paying customer, expecting regular hospitality.after 30 minutes neither herself or another person came to take our dinner order, let alone a drink order.after all that time we came downstairs wondering what had happened – to which she told me she was too busy to come upstairs and take our order and that she had other things to do.she did not even apologise for her mistake and for keeping us waiting.she continually made excuses and laughed at us.i cannot believe how extremely rude and alienating this person was, implying that we were not worth serving and that she would rather be a terrible person than have $100+ worth of food and drink going into the till that night.finally she said that she does not care if we do not return, while also laughing and snickering.absolutely ridiculous behaviour and i in fact will not be returning and will not be shy to share my thoughts with others either.as a collingwood resident and a former regular customer here, wishing you all the best with your business – with a waitress like this who knows how many more customers you will lose.
Definitely became one of my favourite restaurants thanks to the delicious food and friendly service staff! Love the atmosphere as well, it's retro and very unique. Would really recommend this place
Between 4 of us we tried a number of dishes and everything was terrific. Would go back and finish trying the rest of the menu!
Haven’t been to this place for ages! Glad we got a table straight away on Friday night. After 7 pm they got busy, best to have a reservation. We didn’t have to wait long for our meal to come. My tan tan noodle was so so but the barramundi set was super delicious. Definitely will need to pay another visit soon
The food here is AMAZING! They serve many interesting dishes that you can't usually find at other Japanese restaurants in Melbourne.
I highly recommend their Teriyaki Wagyu yakiniku wrapped with carrot and beans. The wagyu was so juicy, tender, and tasty and the veggies added even more flavour and texture to the dish.
I also highly recommend their Kingfish Sashimi. It was high-quality and delicious.
Their Agedashi Tofu with Eggplant was great as well. It was served in a really lovely, gentle mushroom sauce.
Lastly, their Chicken Katsu Curry was so nice and flavourful. There is also an Eggplant Katsu Curry on their menu - an option for vegetarians.
The restaurant has a cute, funky, retro interior.
Wandered in on a Saturday night, wasn't expecting much. But the food was delicious as were the cocktails. Staff were attentive & friendly. Food & drinks were served in great time.
Stumbled across this cute little gem in Collingwood thag I need to share with you all! We tried the
Agedashi Tofu and Eggplant Teishoku -$26
Chicken Karaage Teishoku -$26
Tan Tan Ramen with House made 7 hours chicken bone broth -$23
Teishoku comes with a main + house made osozai + rice + daily changing miso soup. The Pumpkin stuffed Mushroom Tempura was so unique and delicious, was so close to ordering this as the main, but the super friendly waiter had recommended the agedashi tofu and eggplant option to me so I could try a bit of everything! No regrets at all because everything was amazing!
I also love the vibes of this restaurant, they have such cute decorations, (relaxed setting with traditional woodsy decor & a leafy outdoor area), service was great, good ambience and good food!
The four in my group who went all enjoy the experience and the food. As, for going again! Sure. I'll go.
Unfortunately I can’t give more stars, because arriving at 9.13pm (47 minutes before their listed closing time), I was informed the kitchen is closed and I can’t order. “sorry” doesn’t cut it, people need to be informed when restaurants do this, it’s not hard to say in your maps entry you close at 9pm on Mondays or 9.15pm, NOT 10pm as you state. Thank god Shop Ramen is open and actually take orders till they close.
We ate here a lot during lockdowns and are a loyal fan of their sandos. Finally tried eating in and still as tasty as I remembered! The Teishoku is very delicious, perfect portion for a lunch (expensive though) but ingredients taste high quality! Chicken sando is still amazing, very homey flavour overall!
After a long walk from Flinder Street Station to Fitzroy, we just randomly went into this place for lunch - without any research.
I got lil struggle at their menu in the beginning - couldn't understand. But by looking at what others having, I figured out Teishoku is a set meal. I asked for recommendations between #chickenkaraage and #grilledsalmon. The staff suggested we go for #chickenkaraage if we want to share. So yeah, we got chicken karaage set meal and #chickensando
It was seriously the best chicken karaage I have tried so far. Don't know what they did with the seasoning so freaking good. The chicken sando and side dishes was just okay tho
I want to come back to try their dinner menu - especially the #octopuskaraage (only available for dinner).
Couldn’t recommend this place more highly, great service, fantastic ambiance and food. Desperately needing a holiday to Japan right now and Wabi Sabi definitely filled my cup in that regard. Thank you!
