Vue Grand reviews
65This hotel was filthy. The spa looked as though it had never been cleaned. Rooms smelly. I would have rated no stars if there was an option too. You are better off staying in a motel in my opinion.
Over priced. A beautiful old building that is now sad, dark, dingy and unloved. No drinking water provided in the room. No bottle opener. No mention of the fact you will have to lug your suitcase up 8 flights qof stairs to get to the overpriced Turret room. No mention at all when we booked that all hotel bars and food services are closed. At $455 for 1 night, over priced and NOT recommended. There are much better places to stay in Queenscliff.
The Vue Grand is a beautiful place to stay and eat the food is always topnotch and the staff are very welcoming and friendly.
Beautiful old building with some lovely features in a great location. However, whilst the common areas were attractive and in keeping with the age of the building the bedrooms were in dire need of a facelift and updating. Our room while adequate was poorly furnished. For example there was no wardrobe so for 3 days we lived out of our suit cases. Shared iron and ironing board etc. Also no lift to upper floors.
Unfortunately, and the main reason for only 3 Star rating, is the fact that sadly all the bars and the beautiful restaurant were all closed due to the coronavirus restrictions.
Notwithstanding the above, the staff were very helpful and friendly.
Would we stay there again? Yes, probably!
Stopped by for dinner in the casual dining area. Food was delicious and service was fantastic, very friendly and attentive staff.
The building itself is utterly stunning, however may need a bit more of a deeper clean/tidy up soon to avoid it starting to look run down as opposed to historic.
Really nice old hotel. Rooms were really clean. Only downside is the constant footsteps above and on the stairs, to be expected in an old building. All staff were lovely and welcoming. Certainly made good use of the large bath!
A beautiful building needing a new owner ready to invest several million to bring it back to its original glory. Despite this the restaurant was utterly appalling, when you read in a childrens section "pizza with sauce, cheese and chips" one would assume that's what you would receive, oh no, expect two slices of reheated pizza from what you would call a small size pizza on a bed of chips. I dared ask where is the balance of the pizza, I. E. The other three quarters of it. The staff eventually agreed that their menu was misleading, I used the word deceptive. Aside from this the Kofta was freshly prepared in a microwave which gave it the delightful texture of dry saw dust, astoundingly the flavours were OK, why a chef decided to take pita bread and deep fry it is beyond me. There are no redeeming aspects to this blight on Queenscliffe hospitality. If the chef is indeed a chef, they need to be sent for career realignment or research in how that have no pride in their output. How this place as 4.2 stars on zomato either is an IT meltdown or paid reviews to fool those of us just like me, you may have fooled me once, there will never be a twice Jo
Very enjoyable and reasonably priced meal in an absolute treasure of a building.explore after eating, you won't regret the experience.
Food was great for adult meals, mediocre for kids meals, and service was really slow. It took 45 minutes from when we arrived to get my first drink order.
Lovely lunch meals. 6 in our group and all meals were great. We came across on the ferry heading for Barwon Heads. Easy.
Good period style hotel. For price we paid room was small, right in front of bar which didn't close till 9pm there were people literally right outside. I got woken up by loud music at 2am and had to ring after hours reception that said it was probably coming from the bar by mistake. They got it switched off. There are other beautiful rooms and suites in the hotel at a higher price point. Breakfast was basic but good, but would have breen nice to have more variety. The hotel is period style so beautiful grand dining room and general furnishings.
Had lunch here with a group. Very unfortunate to say the service is terrible, the food was average for the price. Very bad experience coming from someone who eats out nearly all meals of the day.
Nice old hotel with a bit of history to it.
We enjoyed our stay there, opting for a room with a balcony which we didn't really end up using.
We were a bit later than the check in time and they kindly organised to leave the keys for us at the on site restaurant/pub.
Room was nice enough with nice high ceilings and great ac.
Breakfast was across the road at a cafe, which was superb.
Wow, what a grand old building, centrally located in the center of Queenscliff, the staff were very helpful and the room was fantastic the bed was nice and comfortable and with the high ceilings was also nice and cool, loved the decor was like stepping back in time. Had a fantastic meal at pekish restaurant if okay suggest trying the battered barra Mundi the meal.size was just right and was cooked to perfection.
The breakfast are great.plenty to choose from.
Great to be able to just park the car and be able to walk everywhere.
Very happy with our weekend away there would gladly go back there again.
Very highly recommended.
The service was very poor. All the dishes were brought out at once even though we ordered a starter. We had to ask for water for the table. The incorrect main was served because there were 2 pork belly dishes & this was not explained to us. There was no attention to detail; a small bowl was provided for the seafood shells so they had to be balanced in the bowl to fit. The waiting staff showed no interested in rectifying the problems.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Our one night stay at the Vue Grand was great!
We stayed in the traditional room which was on the ground floor attached to the bar. It was not noisy at all! We booked two days prior to staying and check in was very simple and they allowed us an extra hour upon check out.
The ceilings are traditionally very high but the room had a fantastic air conditioner (we stayed on a 43 degree day and had to turn the ac off at one point it worked so well).
The beds and pillows are so comfortable!
Breakfast was traditional eggs/toast/cereals.so nothing out of the ordinary but what was expected:)
Would definitely stay again.
We went to the vue grand hotel for Devonshire tea. The scones were the worst we have ever had. They were hard as rocks yet the waitress was trying to persuade us they were freshly baked. We received our coffees 20minutes prior to our scones arriving and when they did arrive the waitress dropped one on the floor and never returned to replace it. Hardly a good experience.
This is a review about the Dining experience and not the accommodation.
We arrived during what would be the lunch time peak on a Sunday afternoon and found that 99% of the tables were taken leaving only a couple of the tables for two available and we were a party of four, not that it was an issue at all you would expect it to be full on a count of the fantastic weather. I did secure a table in one of the front dining rooms (the windows were extremely dirty and in desperate need for a clean looking out towards Hesse St) after some people had just left and I moved their empty dishes and glasses to the end of the table for collection.
For fifteen minutes we had staff walking past us delivering other meals but no one cleaning our table.we grabbed our own menus and it wasn't until another fifteen minutes later that a staff member asked if we were ok and cleared the table, she apologized and took our order and again apologized explaining that there was a longer than expected wait for the meals which turned out to be about forty minutes then only three of the four meals come out the other was about ten minutes later.
The others in my party said there meals were good (the Barrumundi) I had the chicken parma it was ok, around the sides of the parma it was quite dry it may have been finished off under the grill a bit too long.
To me this experience felt like the front of house staff were under the pump with tables not being turned around quickly enough and the chefs under the pump for the quality of food coming out not only mine but others looking around the room. Looks to me that the venue was under staffed to cater for it's full house on this particular day.
I think this place deserves higher ratings. Staff are lovely and helpful (you can see they are putting in effort to make sure you have a good experience), showed us to a outside area, perfect for lunch with modest meals.
Went there on Sunday hoping for a nice lunch based on previous excellent experience what a disappointment, ordered brown rice and quinoa with chicken, my meal only had half of its ingredients, l queried this, said they would talk to head chef, no one came back to me, queried it when l was paying, was given 25 percent off l replied should be 50 percent off as half of ingredients missing, was told that was the best they could do, everyone under the pump.
