Village Cinemas Rivoli reviews
69 Such a great art deco cinema, popular for hosting premieres and always super hospitable.
I’ve seen many a great movie there, and Mande many memories.
Old school cinema with charm!
We love the Rivoli theatre, for the art deco ambience as much as anything else. It's a wonderful building, with great amenities. Love the rooftop bar as well.
Admire it for its old-world charm and unique character. If you’re seeking the latest cinematic technology, this is not the place for you. By all means the visuals and audio are not bad, but they’re not great either. Screens are pretty big but 3D quality is not so sharp and can get quite dark. The audio has always felt on the low side, there’s no Dolby Atmos just standard surround sound. The seats however are very comfy although they’re not recliners.
The best part about Rivoli is it’s ability to transport you to another era, it’s truly magical to experience what it would’ve been like to go to the movies in the past. The decor and architecture is tasteful and decadent. Staff are always friendly too. I’ll always keep visiting just because there’s no place quite like Rivoli!
I love this old theatre it’s so nostalgic, but unfortunately the gold class experience was about a silver! Don’t eat if you can help it the food is below par for the price and the cocktail wasn’t very good. It’s a bit worn out and there were still crumbs in my seat. The Screen was small. The service however was great efficient and friendly. Hence 4 stars.
Best cinema! Had an open air rooftop drink and cheese platter before the movie. Seats comfortable and the ambience of this glorious cinema never disappoints!
Very nice cinema, clean and well maintained, nice atmosphere, staff were polite and efficient, highly recommend this cinema.
Gold class had lovely staff and better food than hoyts. Amazing looking old cinema. Worth the visit.
A place to enjoy classic cozy decorations and movies. The rooftop bar is great. The screens are moderate compared with Hoyts but rather on par with other Village Cinemas.
We just had our engagement party upstairs at the Rivoli and it was fantastic! Such a brilliant outdoor space with heating and covered areas. The staff were attentive and very helpful.
It's so unique, I would definitely recommend Rivoli for your next event.
Rivoli has risen up to be one of my favourite cinemas.the decor is so lovely and it doesn't feel cheap. I went to a Q&A session with Emma Thompson present, which was pretty dang cool.
It was fabulous to be able to have a Champagne while watching a movie! Hadn't been to the pictures in 10 years
I really enjoy watching movies here, the old with the new is awesome and the picture and sound is terrific.
It is a little sad to see that the beautiful screen curtains that made this Art Deco
Cinema stand out from the common multiplex are no longer in operation. They were operational in each of the eight cinemas, and are now sitting idle in the open position.
Such a shame that presentation standards have slipped over the last few years, since I last attended. Just to see the house lights dim and the majestic gold curtains opening was a sight to behold. I hope one day, the staff are able to rectify this presentation as it adds such charm to the beginning and ending of each screening.
Went to the Rivoli a while back before Covid and didn't expect it to be so grand when I went back. I was wrong, the Rivoli is still and awesome old school cinema with a great gold class. 100% recommend.
Old building but first class experience. Great cinemas. Lots of restaurants around to eat before or after your session.
When you miss the good old grandeur art deco building and cinema at once, visit this place. It is well maintained and places like this gives Melbourne that extra oomph for being so cool by mixing contemporary with the old. The staff were friendly and helpful. There is also food being served at the gold class. The screens are larger than the most modern cinemas.
Wonderful Art Deco cinema, Cinema 1 beautifully restored. Range of restaurants across the road.
We were married at the Rivoli 21 years ago on May 27
Great customer service but the theatre I was in, the projector wasn't centered and the bottom of the screen had indentations which bothered me for the entire movie.
Beautiful, older, classy style cinema in the heart of Camberwell Junction with plenty of places to eat before or after the cinema. Well maintained and comfortable with large screens, not the huge ones like in the new cinemas. Recommended for a nice date or night out.
Great movie, Minari, was an interesting and different movie. Korean and subtitled but set in the US
