Vegie Bowl Springvale reviews
61 Ordered takeaway for 'stir-fried beef with Chinese broccoli' and was ripped off with no beef mock meat in my dish. Instead, I found an unexpected chunk of smashed ginger within the broccoli. Had this same takeaway dish at the Forest Hill chain, so I know how it should appear and taste.
The Springvale store has a history of unpleasant service, and I'm giving it 2 stars because the Forest Hill store is still an option and some dishes can be nice.
Excellent vegetarian Chinese restaurant that I visit frequently.
Very pleasant restaurant environment which felt extremely homely. The ambience was of a classic Chinese restaurant with 80s /90s Chinese instrumentals playing the background. Very busy on a weekday. Service polite and respectful. Food arrived quickly with excellent portion sizes.
Ordered
1. Nasi lemak 16.90.
Nice spicy flavour with depth and oomph! Precise level of creaminess in the curry went perfectly with the fresh coconut rice.
2. Sweet and sour pork (mock meat) with fried rice 16.50.
The fried rice was perfectly cooked and salted with a great amount of wok hay. Each grain of rice was properly separated. The mock pork was soy based. Tasted almost like the real thing! Nice crisp fried batter went perfectly with the sweet and sour sauce and was perfect with the fried rice.
Char Kwai teow 15.90
Served hot with beautiful wok hay. I repeat the wok hay was perfect here! Nicely salted and served absolute steaming hot. Loved the crispness of the bean sprouts.

Will continue to be a regular here!
Very friendly staff. Love this place. The outdoor seating helps to take our 4 legged family member.
Busy place, felt kinda ignored tbh. The food was good though, it's all vegetarian, so great options for vego/vegans. As a meat eater, don't expect the fake pork to taste like pork because you'll be disappointed - having said that, though, the food is still good.
Food is Amazing however customer service needs some improvement. We had to request few times for plates, cutlery and water. Also, the dishes were served in random order with starters coming out last. Also there was a long wait in between the first and the last dish coming out so the person who got her order/ dish served last had to see others face while waiting for her order, not good in my view.
Great business, excellent food, lovely staff! My family’s Favourite restaurant. Gordon the owner is wonderful
I regularly order ubereats from this restaurant and its always spot on and very yummy.
I recently went for lunch, dining in with my dad. We ordered the banquet for two, just because why not! It was delicious. 5 courses of amazing food!
The manager/owner of the restaurant was there and he was very friendly. He made sure we enjoyed our meal and wished a happy holidays.
Highly recommend!
Food tasted rather below average, comparing to other vegetarian outlets available around Melbourne. Each dishes tasted almost similar, where all seven of our dishes lacked flavours yesterday. Salt & pepper tofu is almost bland and no flavour, and not value for money.
Dined in on a warm day and seated on a crazy burning hot corner of the restaurant, however the service wasn't pleasant about it, with the audacity of commenting they can't do anything about it without even trying.experience from many many other restaurants around, the staff would at least give a heads up that the table given is warm, or even make effort to place some fan so patrons can eat in better comfort.
All we get is sarcastic remarks at the end saying we dined in a sauna, oh well - each got own humour i guess.
There're plenty of better vegetarian option with better taste, kinder servicing around. Verdict - not worth travelling all the way to it if you are not in that vicinity.
Gordon is such a beautiful person. The food is simply awesome and delicious. My family always looks forward to go there. The ambience is very welcoming and reasonable prices with good portion size of food.
I’m from NSW and my son and his family gave us a voucher to eat at Vegie Bowl. My niece was driving to the Vegie Bowl at Forrest Hill - here the ambience is great. Of course we arrived at the SPRINGVALE BRANCH.
Absolute awesome food. We had crispy duck - could have eaten it myself; all loved the very tasty Rendang curry - couldn’t believe we were NOT eating meat, but it was a bit oily, curry laksa and special fried rice were great.
Not too keen on the Singapore noodle, but the roast duck noodle soup and wonton egg noodle soup were tasty
Can’t wait to try again - service was quick, staff were very friendly
Was sceptical as a lot of vegetation options are pretty average but this was incredible. I got to try some classics I remember from years ago and anyone vegie or not will enjoy the food.
Everytime I go to Vegie Bowl, the food is always delicious, the staff are always wonderful and the atmsophere is pleasant. It is a wonderful place for people with vegan and vegetarian dietary requirements. The food is worth the money it costs and everything always tastes delicous!
Delicious food and the loveliest service. My sister and I came close to closing time but they still happily prepared our meals to go. We decided to sit outside the restaurant and eat there and they were so kind and gave us extra bowls and some drinks. Thank you!
We had a large group booking and got the table with the lazy Susan! It was great fun! Very generous serving sizes also
Such a pleasant dining experience. The food is beautifully presented with amazing taste. Would definitely come back and recommend to my friends. I love the 4 heaven king, pepper salt squid and the barbecue plates best:)
This place has gone downhill both in food quality and service since the change of management. We are no longer offered water and the food takes way longer to come out than it usually does. We ordered soup for entree and two main dishes. One of the main dishes came out first so my friend had to eat that first, then the soup came out, by the time he finished his main meal the soup was cold. By the time my dish came out he had almost finished both his dishes. The dish they brought me was incorrect as it was honey chicken with fried rice and not sweet and sour pork. I had to send it back and wait for my dish to be remade. I think they had scraped the fried rice from the incorrect honey chicken dish and given it to me with sweet and sour pork as the rice was cold and the sweet and sour pork was piping hot. Will definitely not be returning to this restaurant ever again.
Since the change of management this place has gone massively downhill. My partner and I have been ordering from here frequently for about 4 years and up until the recent change of management we have had absolutely no issues.
When ordering takeaway over the phone I was told very rudely that I could not add Mushrooms to Curry Laksa because "we are too busy". After questioning this the owner eventually said "okay I do for you".
While sat waiting for my food I watched the owner turn away 3 groups of people who asked for a table because "we are fully booked". I understand that restaurants have capacity limits, but what really bothered me was seeing the 8 empty tables in the restaurant. What made it worse was the owner then telling the people that he turned away that they could not even order takeaway and "just go to Forest Hill".
We will definitely not be going back here ever again.
Do yourself a favour and go to Forest Hill which is still under the lovely old management.
Great experience. The staff are really friendly and at your service all the time. The food is great. It is a vegetarian 's paradise done right! Serving size is appropriate and food generally came pretty quickly. We had the honey chicken and sweet and sour pork. While both were great, they tasted pretty much the same, hence would recommend the sweet and sour pork only. The Pipa Tofu was amazing, it was crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. Would recommend eating this one quickly though because it gets cold and soggy quickly. Only thing there was not a lot of gravy to the dishes so there was no point in ordering rice.
We have been going there for few years now and had fantastic experience and food.
Lately the management has changed and it was the worst experience we had at Vegie Bowl Springvale.
Service was pathetic. The guy who seems to be the new owner was bit rude. Food quality and taste has been dropped. They had to take almost all the dishes back and re make it as they were not made as we requested.
We have been told to go Forest Hill branch as it is still under old management.
Overall below Average Experience.
Food quality: 2/10
Service: 1/10
Not visiting again!
Went for a staff birthday party and we all absolutely loved it. Friendly service and food came out super quick.
Im not a fan of vegetarian food as I'm a meat eater but this place changed my mind with vegetarian dishes i had. Will definitely be coming again.
