Apart from that, the people who work in the kitchen do not have good customer service. I wouldn't eat there again.

First time here as I heard good things and there’s always a line to get in. As a parma enthusiast
Utterly disappointed in the parma. Would’ve given one star but service and staff were lovely.
Please sort out the parma though, extremely generous portion and great price at 17.90
But the parma was horrible. Chicken was chewy, and the sauce and cheese just as bad and it came out cold. Change your chicken breast supplier, a parma should be thick and tender, not chewy and hard to swallow. And if you’re reheating the pre sauced parmas make sure you do it properly. Chips also need to be crunchy and golden not soggy. I’ll be back and hopefully better next time

Service is excellent and friendly staff. Portions of food are big but they go very heavy on the sauce. So the pasta and risotto ate swimming in sauce which makes it lose its taste. The fried stuff (parma and squid.) is a bit oily. Pizza is good.

Just to see from the pictures, not worth it the trip,
Parma is burned, pasta is less sauce and dry,
Chips looks soggy, poor presentation dishes, pizza not enough filling, they put 4/5 pieces of pinapple closed to the centre,
One stare more is enough

Still the best chicken schnitzel in melbourne, juicy and succulent! Who said cheap food can’t be good?

The food is so delicious, and the size of portion is big. We order chicken Parma, I liked it so much.
The only things I should say, the service is not good.we should ask for little things, like plate, knife.

Worst customer service. As a halal eater they served me pasta with bacon when i specifically asked if it’s halal and the waiter replied “yes”. I do not recommend for people that have food requirements

Staff were helpful when we stopped for an afagatto late in the evening. They provided a table and good service even though we didn't want a meal.

Ordered the universal meat platter at $98, we asked for medium rare, cook to it’s perfection. Instead of potato chips (due to the shortage in Victoria) we got sweet potato chips, and they still tasted great. Garlic bread was perfect also. Chocolate milkshake was delicious and as I ordered the lemon limes bitter. I highly recommend this meat platter, don’t worry if you can’t finish it there is take home option. Awesome job chefs!

Terrible food the italian community should ban them from using the term italian comfort food.

Price is the only selling point.food is below average and the wait staff are rude and inattentive. We had chicken Parma and garlic bread, was extremely basic - would not recommend wasting your time.

The portion size is Crazyyyyyyyyy but I wouldn't say that the food is quality. Felt sick after eating the parma and pizza.

My experience of dining in Universal was great. The gnocchi was tasty and truly a good lunch. I had to stand in a line for 20 minutes for a table but it was worthy of the wait.

At first we were shockrd by the position size and quality! Both are excellent so make sure you go there hungry. The chicken parmigiana was perfect.

Staff was very helpful, friendly and professional. The they look like college students but are always on top of everything.

Have heard about Universal Restaurant with its famous long queues from food-lover friends. Never had the chance to visit though.
When we met up with friends visiting from Singapore on Christmas eve, we were pleasantly surprised to see the restaurant half empty at 12.30pm. We had a quiet corner all to ourselves. Marcus, our server, kept checking on us to make sure everything was fine. The food and drinks (we ordered the chicken parmigiana of course, marinara pasta in red sauce, chicken and mushroom pasta and the girls went crazy ordering milkshakes with flavours ranging from tiramisu to the house special butterscotch) were lovely, and we were pleasantly surprised by the bill.
Quality, big servings with warm service to boot. Probably shouldn't review to add to the usual long queues, but these guys deserve a shout-out for what they do!

This place is well known for their famous chicken parmas, the price is great for anyone who doesn't want to spend too much, and the wait is decent. There is a large range of gluten free selections, which is great for coeliacs/gluten intolerance. Since portions are also very large (plus!) take out boxes are an option for anyone who cannot finish their meals. Highly recommend this place if you're up to feast and fulfil your hunger.

Although this restaurant advertises "Group bookings" it cannot in any way cater for large numbers of people all at one time. Would never recommend this venue for any "group booking" functions. They are only good for quick pizzas and high turnover small table service. The food was average to say the least, though we did not order pizza (probably should have done just that) and after dinner service they refused to serve tea or coffee to our guests because they had cleaned and closed the coffee machine without telling us first. We have honestly never had this horrible experience happen to us at any restaurant we have attended in Victoria and we have been to many. They completely spoilt my daughters birthday and these are the memory we now get to keep of that day.

Was a great place a few friends and I frequented due to its location being so close to everything, the food was heaps cheaper, albeit just as tasty as other cafes along the street.however, we suspect recent changes have been made as the pastas tasted different during our last few visits.would still be back, just slightly disappointed.
