Union Electric Bar & Rooftop Gin Garden

Great little bar that represents all that is great about Melbourne. Obviously they specialise in gin but they are well versed in all drinks and the Old Fashioned that I had was excellent. Drinks range from $13 for the basic cocktails to $26 for the premium selections. Only criticism I have is it can be difficult to get seating on a busy night. Staff were helpful.

Always a Sunday treat in Chinatown, quieter, can grab a seat for the best homemade hummus and a drink. Friendly bar staff and great drinks!

A very friendly place. The staff maintained a happy vibe even over Easter, when it was suddenly taken over by tourists and (ahem) oldies instead of the usual 20-30 something crew. All good.

Cool pocket rooftop bar, great cocktails and bartenders, limited seating and beers. Great laneway hideaway.

Great bar, venue, music and drinks. The outdoor sausage sizzle added a nice touch. Great place for summer. We also had a great bar/waiter who was super friendly and attentive. Really enjoyed our visit and will be back.

Great spot and friendly staff. Nice quiet nook downstairs to relax in, and a really well decked out beer garden on the roof. The gin selection is huge, but i think the bar staff could be a little more educated in the serving of gin, given the extensive selection. Many gins are served by default with lemon or lime and a mountain of tonic water (or soda) which don't do the myriad of gins any justice. They're happy to oblige and provide the mixer separately, BUT when they do, they serve the gin shot with an absolute mountain of ice. I wondered why until I picked up the mixer - it isnt cold, its unrefrigerated. So bare these things in mind if you're really really into your gins and you know a bit about it. They'll also dig a bit deeper if you ask specifically what accompaniment is recommended for the gin, which is good. But they never offered it until we asked. Still, they're super friendly folks and ita a great spot.

Good selection of gins on a nice, quiet rooftop. Doesn't serve food but does allow Uber Eats. Low score because they refused entry to our friend with a baby - completely understand that under 18s aren't allowed but a 12 month old is hardly attempting to sneak a beer.

Welcoming staff, awesome gin selection, hidden gem for a warm night in town. Try the Southern Wild Gin selection.
