Trippy Taco

Loved the place. The food is delicious and cocktails are great. We had a great time we sat outside and it was beautiful atmosphere. Can’t wait to go there again.

A group of friends and I dined here on the 5th Dec. Most of us eat meat, but we were all satisfied with the vegetarian/vegan food. I ordered the tofu asada taco, the black bean taco along with trippy loaded fries, a salad and drank the tamarind margarita, classic margarita and sangria. The tofu asada taco and the trippy fries with their special seasoning is so tasty! My favourite drink was the tamarind margarita! Try that drink - it’s delicious
Then in the same week, on the 9th December, I went back and ordered 2x jugs of the tamarind margarita, 1x jug of the sangaria, trippy fries, corn chips with salsa, guacamole, various dipping sauces, and a container of asada tofu…All as a takeaway order to bring to a Christmas party at Melbourne Calisthenics. My big order was ready on time. The staff at Trippy Taco were so friendly and gave me a much larger container of tofu than I was expecting and they offered to help me carry out all the items to my car. I had brought my own jugs to collect the drinks. My fellow gym members loved the tamarind margarita too, saying they enjoyed the mixture of the sweet and sour / tart flavour. The vegetarians/vegans also really appreciated the tofu and took some home with them.
There is also a very good looking Colombian guy who works there with nice eyes lol. I would definitely come back to Trippy Taco for the tasty food and friendly service.

Definitely one of the best spots in town to go for Mexican food. The cocktails and the food were amazing. Very nice atmosphere, the service was professional and friendly. I had a very nice time with my friends, we will definitely come back.

A place so delicious you won't realise it's vegan! The options here are all delicious and the staff clearly care a lot about their food. The drinks are fabulous too, and the atmosphere is vibrant and fun! Definitely recommend coming here with friends for a quick bite!

They are all sweethearts.
I was a little upset earlier cos they where busy and I waited 15mins for small takeaway fries but they gave a large cos they where sorry and were sincerely.

Here is an honest review from a Mexican. Trippy Taco is the epitome of a restaurant getting Mexican food wrong. Especially in Collingwood that has the best Mexican places in all of Melbourne.

First of all the menu is confusing, usually all Mexican places will have a list of tacos with different fillings. But I could only found the one? And another one that was only beans which thankfully the staff warned me about before ordering.

I had the namesake dish and was severely disappointed. The tortillas were crumbly and dry. Better tortillas can be found in any supermarket.

The filling was an odd choice: Tofu. I have nothing against new or odd ingredients in tacos but it seems such a wasted opportunity when Mexican cuisine has so much excellent vegetarian options in nopales, huitlacoche, rajas and champiñones.

All other fillings were insipid and dry. I have yet to understand why Mexican food in Australia has unmelted cheese.

The saving grace is their excellent selection of authentic Mexican sauces and drinks. Valentina sauce is an odd choice for non seafood tacos. But at least they have good beer in Negra Modelo and Pacifico.

Trippy Taco was popular for their Mexican vegetarian/vegan meals. Their food was fresh, well-portioned, and quite flavourful especially the French fries. However the venue was uncomfortably small and tight, and service was so slow that we waited an hour for our food.

Delicious burritos and the staff were incredible helpful and friendly! The rating would be 5 stars but sadly the fries didn’t quite match the amazing standard of the burritos. But definitely worth a visit if your in town

Awful service. Hardly anyone was there yet a single serve of chips and a basic margarita took 30 minutes.

Food was disgusting, completely tasteless. Staff was rude and dismissive.

Best thing was the glass of water. Would definitely return if I need a drink of water.

Not huge portions so definitely worth ordering a few things, but the quality is on point. Loved the nachos & cheeeeesy quasadillas!

I'd be giving this three stars based entirely on the food I had, maybe even two. Unfortunately it was overcooked and super dried out.
But the service was really fantastic, and my friends food came out good, so I am guessing it's not the norm.

Amazing food! The burrito and tacos are some of the best I've come across in Melbourne with really fresh ingredients. The staff are really friendly too making for a great dining experience

LOVE the vegan quesadillas, burritos and the corn is super tasty too! Always recommend this place to friends and often crave it. Super tasty seasoning on the chips!
