Trawool Fish & Chips reviews
37 Used to be fantastic and have the best potato cakes bar none. Unfortunately the new owners have driven it into the ground and kept digging.
Don't bother.
Very rude owners, didn't even speak to me while I ordered. No reply when said to have a nice day after picking up order either.
Food was decently average, don't expect extra salt either when you ask for it.
A little customer service skills can go a long way, I don't expect a conversation or anything but to be literally ignored while ordering is a bit much. Read that they're new owners so don't feel they deserve the high star rating.
New management have no clue whatsoever on what their doing. Ordered a small meal and ended up waiting 50 minutes, only to come back home and noticing that the burgers were undercooked, cold and didn’t even have any lettuce! We then called them to have a very rude man answer and wouldn’t even let me finish a single sentence. He then told us after we complained that they had run out of lettuce and sauce! We used to come here almost every week but due to the recent change in management we will NEVER be back again anytime soon. I would highly recommend eating elsewhere.
The only fish & chip shop in a hidden little shopping strip near Dorking Road, I wanted to give it a try based on the decent star rating it seems to have.
The owners seem to be Chinese-speaking but thankfully there were also some Aussie staff employed there who were polite, genuine and helpful.
A big part of how highly I rate a fish and chip shop is the freshness and authenticity of the seafood they sell. Unfortunately, the seafood pack I ordered contained fake "calamari rings" which were just seafood extender or some other substance, formed into a ring and crumbed. I don't think you can get away with selling this sort of $h1t these days and expecting people not to notice you've substituted fake processed rings for actual calamari. It's 2020 and I can only assume that people appreciate food quality a bit more than they did 25 years ago. So to that end I wasn't impressed.
The flake was tasty, nicely battered and nicely cooked, so was the scallop I had in my seafood pack, and the chips were also very good although the serving size was very small. Nevertheless I won't be back in a hurry if I'm going to be told that I'm getting calamari rings, when in fact the owners are doing the typical skimping on quality ingredients and I'm getting some undefined aerated round thing that's definitely a ring, but pretty far from being calamari!
Love this little place. Food is always spit on and not overly expensive. We also love the homemade tartare sauce
Used to order once a week for workplace lunches for everyone over the last 10 years. Used to be by far the best fish and chip shop in the area by some margin. Unfortunately now under new management and within a week of taking over they have single handily destroyed this business. Very disappointing the new owners could not keep up the great reputation trawool fish and chip shop has had over many years.
Splendid burgers. Greats souvas. I rate the sweet potato cakes highly. I rate this place highly!
Very dissapointed, used to be so nice. Batter on the fish was thick and soggy. Potato cakes weren't light and crunchy like they used to be and the potato was still raw in places.
3.6. I know it’s only fish and chips but I like them. Sometimes, anyway. They’re good here as others have reported. Fresh oil is used and they’re well made. They were tasty and good. Lovely service here too. Recommended.
Quality food with spectacular burgers. Best in the area for fast, simple but also delicious meal choices for anyone and everyone. Also some great value, with combo deals and reasonably priced food.
This has to be the best fish and chip shop in Melbourne. The food is always fresh and cooked to perfection. We are grateful that this amazing little gem is situated close to our home.
I find the standard of fish and chips these days average so I'm glad to have found trawool fish and chips. The girls there were lovely, the food was well cooked, not overly battered and the chips were crispy.
The new owners have turned a bad thing into a up to date and tasty cooked Fish snd well presented with crispy battered potato cakes. Also serves of chips crisp with inside flavors of cooked potato. All presented to.takeaway in a box with added lemon and adequate salt.
The shop has a menu that would please hungry families. Prices are reasonable compared with other local take aways.
Always fresh, you could feed an army on their $4 medium chips, great burgers and fish and staff is fantastic
Doing a great job these girls and guys!
Wish use did delivery but I'm happy to pick up that quality:)
Best fish and chips in Melbourne!
Potato cakes are to die for.
Food is always fresh and delicious, and the customer service is brilliant.
Very reasonable prices.
The fish is always fresh, Food is incredible! I eat there once a week. For the other guy that was disappointed, he shouldn't even be writing reviews. Has no idea. I think he must enjoy oily shirty food
