TRAPT Bar & Escape Rooms reviews
80Have been here twice now. The first time I couldn't fault the experience, however, the second time wasn't the same. Booked here for my family after having a great first experience. We were a large group and the room was actually very spacious. However, there were a lot of little things that made this time less enjoyable. Firstly, the room TV wasn't working, understandable not their fault and they were trying to fix it. They had an alternative way to get clues however this was slow and took some time. Secondly the room malfunctioned and we were able to skip a bunchh of clues and escape very quickly. The worker came to reset the room, however out clock was still runnin and took up a decent amount of time. Next, the room malfunctioned again and we were left searching for clues for 15 minutes before an employee came to tell us and helped us out. Once realizing the mechanism wasn't working correctly they just told us what we would have done and unlocked a bunch of clues for us and then we escaped. Which was disappointing for us. Unfortunately, we didn't really get to complete the whole room and we're just let out which is disappointing as it fairly pricey per person.
Really good one, we did the wayward wizard room and there was an enormous amount of puzzles that required creative solutions. The story was captivating and the room was styled nicely. It was a very immersive experience.
Some of the puzzles solutions were a little obtuse but for the most part, they made sense and flowed nicely. There's some pretty nice use of technology to enhance the puzzles and make them creative and aesthetically pleasing.
They also did this really cool thing where there are bonus puzzles to solve if you have enough time once you've accomplished the main goal. I always really like when rooms do this as you feel like you're getting value for money and also feel a sense of accomplishment for completing the main objective.
The staff were friendly and it's cool that they have themed cocktails to match the rooms.
Did the Alice room, it was very interesting with the way the puzzles are designed. It was hard but enjoyable.
The bar/lounge area was also very cozy and atmospheric.
Forgot who served us, but he was bald and had an awesome beard. That guy was super friendly great service from him.
Good times were had, will come back
Great time doing the pirate themed room accidentally speed ran it but was an amazing night, great staff and awesome drinks before and after the escape room. Shout out to the legend that is Connor and thankyou to the staff for letting me change my booking date after making a mistake on the original booking date.
We came here for Father’s Day for something different. The room was fun for 4 people who had only ever done one other room. But we stayed here for hours for the cocktails alone. Some of the best in Melbourne, great staff too
This place was really cool and the room itself nicely done. We managed to escape and there are several other small games to play in the same room!
Michael, Molly, Maze, Jarvis and Chloe TGESE HUYS ARE SO AWESOME AND EPIC WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE WHO IS LOOKINH FOR A GOOD NIGHT AND ESCAPE ROOM
Jarvis and Chloe were incredible, so polite, so supportive and made our night so epic and fun ️ would recommend to the world.
Fun and unique venue, friendly staff, challenging rooms, great location, close to public transport. Bar available for pre drinks. Loads of fun. We loved it!
A 10/10 experience and a massive shoutout to Chloe and Jarvis. Took the experience to a 10!
Great escape room and challenging puzzles.
Frustrated that we had to waste precious time in the game, trying to find a hard hat with a light that had fully charged batteries as the escape room was dark and our headlamps were the only source of light. (went through 3 different head lamps).
This really put a dampener on the experience.
Something simple but it had a big impact as in the end we were so close to making it out but with the wanted time, we ran out of time.
50min is shorter than other escape rooms and the puzzles can be harder to understand. Some rooms will need more people to solve puzzles in parallel. It's good that they have an early escape for most people and learn more options for those that want to be challenged.
It was a great experience the bar looked amazing but for $50 dollars per person with a 50 minute timer it was a bit expensive. As well as this some of the clues were a bit misleading and not planned well. In future I would love to go back if the time limit was extended and certain clues were fixed up. Would recommend though.
If i could rate lower i would.i came here with my two 16 year old boys to participate in the ‘wizard of oz’ escape room and was told i need to leave immediately
- Basically i arrived and told them i had a booking then they asked to see the ids of my children of corse knowing they were 16 and weren’t here to drink i told the lady this/ she then called her manager and he told me they cannot participate under age regardless of me being there to supervise and that we were not drinking. The man was extremely rude and disrespectful to me giving me attitude and threatening me. All i asked was for a refund as the service i had pre paid for was not being supplied they said they weren’t able to do this because their website clearly shows it’s 18+ multiple times where in fact it said it very very small within the pages of terms and agreements that truthfully no one reads, not only is it not being clear on the website but the door of the place didn’t show it anyway and roundly was not visible through the entire process.after some arranging with the rude and verbally abusive man we set in plan to get a refund but for only half of the amount which was absolutely ridiculous, he told me it was their policy and it was my fault for not knowing, obviously i was very upset about this but still was promised half of my order back.he was unable to process my refund right then and there but said it would take 3-5 business days for the money to go through, fine that is fine i said but when i asked for a email of proof that it was processed he told me he is much to busy for me and cannot do this right away.angrily i told him i will not leave until i know my refund has been sent, he told me “i don’t even need to give you this refund you should be grateful” then forced me out of the building.i am not greatly upset of the mistake with ages and such but am furious with the behaviour of the staff member i was talking to.i didn’t get his name unfortunately but he was average height, red/orange hair big beard, slightly larger, white male.i would very strongly suggest that this man be fired immediately or at least suspended.i will not ever be returning here due to his poor hospitality. NOT HAPPY!
I don't mind the vibe of the bar area so that was a plus. Staff in bar area offered average customer service.
The escape room experience was not as good as previous trips unfortunately. Puzzles in the room lacked reference or immersion to the storyline, and there were no logical links as to what puzzle/solution went to what lock. On several occasions we solved a puzzle and had to try the solution on multiple locks randomly until we unlocked one. Lack of badge at end (reduce landfill was reason given) a slight downer.
The was a lack of setting up the room with the story - we felt rushed through as though the person was just getting it done.
The gamemaster (different person to person who got us to the room) was passionate and helpful at the end of the game explaining the extra puzzles etc.
Overall a good experience.
SERIOUSLY SO MUCH FUN, the staff were so funny and nice, and could not recommend this place enough! It was awesome! Thanks to our fairy god mother
Just not that great. Two rooms only. When you asked for a clue someone came into the room and solved it for you, which wrecked the whole limited vibe of the room. So very disappointing. No real story, and ultimately just trying to unlock padlocks with no aim.
Can't go wrong with this escape room and bar! Drinks are themed and delicious and the rooms are always fun
Positives - Atmosphere and bar is good, and the escape room had some interesting puzzles
Negatives - Staff had a very unhelpful attitude and are unwilling to provide extra time when they make mistakes. Elements of the room did not work correctly and required staff to come in to fix them.
We arrived on Saturday to complete The Wayward Wizard North & South. We arrived 5 minutes late for our session, and were advised that the timer was already started so that it wouldn't disrupt other bookings. This was okay, but then we had to complete our waivers and the staff provided no assistance in completing these or getting logged onto the wifi which was having issues at the time. Once we did get all the waivers complete, the staff ran through an extremely slow brief about the rooms and tried cracking jokes and chatting generally, which would have been great if we weren't already using up our time in the room. At this point it would have been better for staff to cut out anything non essential so we can get started sooner.
Once we got in the rooms were very interesting and contained good puzzles, however we had one element in each room that either didn't work or broke and required the staff to come in and correct it. When a box has a sensor it shouldn't be so temperamental that if it 1cm out of alignment that it just won't work, and when using a cryptex there should be a direction if it needs to be opened a certain way so that it doesn't break. It also breaks the immersion of the room when staff come in to provide a clue, rather than just leaving a message over the screen. It was also very obvious that staff weren't monitoring our progress as when the man came in we had to explain our last 10 minutes of puzzles as he was trying to explain elements we had already finished. Considering we spent at least 10 minutes trying to open the box in the correct spot without it working, you would think that some extra time credit might be applied.
Once we finished, the remaining puzzle elements were quickly explained to us, but some members of the group would have preferred not to know in case they wanted to attempt the room again in the future. I think a disclaimer before explaining everything would be the way to go. Once we left the room we were basically just left in the hallway with no follow up from the staff, which would have been a nice way to finish the experience.
Overall, the room was enjoyable, and would have been a great experience if not for some elements not working correctly and the staff not allowing extensions to the time limit when things go wrong on their end. I appreciate that there are booking slots that they are worried about infringing, but a common theme on these reviews seems to be time related issues, that could be fixed if the bookings had a bit more space between them for potential issues that come up.
Had amazing time again at Trapt, the staff were all so welcoming and helpful even though it was very busy. Had a great time in the cave in room, it was so fun.
Stuck around and had some amazing drinks after our room
All in all another great Friday nite had by us and our friends.
Would totally recommend!
