Food was very average, gyukatsu was bad and not crumbed, chicken karage is average, staffed showed attitude, when we tried to pay, she rolled her eyes at us and sighed loudly, very poor service, very unjapanese like

Change of ownership has left this place not even a shadow of its former glory. Poor approximation of the previously high quality Japanese food to a definite drop in ingredient quality and preparation that is not really Japanese food. It went from a place I went frequently, toafter one visit under new ownership and chef, a place I won’t go again. Sad to see a neighborhood gem end up like this

Nice Japanese restaurant, tucked in the Glenferrie road area. Lovely food and service - certainly recommended for a nice and quick bite.

The quality of food has drastically dropped since my last visit - perhaps the ownership has changed.
I ordered the cold soba, fried chicken curry and kimchi fried pork with cheese. The cold soba was super bland and diluted, the curry was watery and also bland and the fried pork dish was soaked with kimchi-flavoured water which made the fried pork soggy. If you want authentic Japanese food I would go somewhere else. They just slap the food on the dish with no care of quality.

Unfortunately changed of ownership as well as chef section, new owners sometimes don't understand quality control, existing customer base or guest and employee culture the restaurant developed previously.

I would come back if the food taste bad if all their staff behave nicely, unfortunately treated their customer rudely (I will give them a chance if they behave nicely but is a NO for me)

Overall, management changes, chef as well, not worth to come here anymore.read before you come.

Very tasty chicken karaage curry! It’s different from other chicken karaage that I ate in the other Japanese resto. This one is crispy and worked well with the curry. Also this Japanese curry is more like a soup than the thicker version of the curry. It’s a surprised for me as I have never tried this version of curry before.
Overall, it’s highly recommended!

New owner has really changed this place. There is nothing Japanese left here anymore, which is really disappointing. Food quality dropped so much, and new staff are not very friendly. My meal came with a miso soup and a salad. Miso soup was cold, had just miso paste and water. Salad dressing was off and tasted sour. It was our go to Japanese place for all the time before but I won’t return here again.

What a find! The food here is incredible! Don't be fooled by the prices, this is cheap and cheerful done right. Pork Katsu are excellent, very crisp and juicy. The Karaage Chicken was large, crisp and tasty. The place was super busy but the service was fast and attentive. Lot's of variety on the menu to keep going back, which we will. Add this place to the rotation.

Unfortunately Tokyo Table has fallen a long way from its previous highs. A change of ownership and chef has really taken its toll on not only the quality of the food, but the overall dining experience. The ramen used to be an absolute highlight, and now it's a glorified instant ramen with some sliced meat on top. It's a shame to see an establishment like this pass on to new hands, and any authenticity it used to have is now long gone

Unsure why they charged us $1.44 for an online payment fee. Probs better to just pay in store and save the money.

Giving low score as my chicken teriyaki don was dry, very lacking in sauce and was more like some version of a Chinese stir-fry than a proper Japanese teriyaki. I could not finish the food unfortunately.

The wife's salmon aburi was average.

My gyoza was burnt.

Sadly will not return.

The place seems super popular with students and was pumping at the time of pickup.

Delicious even though it's only takeaway at the moment, can't wait until they are allowed to open for real! Really great quality food!

A casual hang location, reasonable if you're just looking for ramen or one of those uni like meals, but not the venue for higher end Japanese

Very affordable and generous portions. The katsu wasn't the most authentic, but definitely still tasty in its own right. Relieved to see that they provided the typical sides (rice, miso soup, cabbage and bulldog sauce) for free. The green tea and sesame ice cream are the best we've had in this neighbourhood. It's usually very busy so it's best if you reserve in advance so that you don't end having to wait outside for a while. Would definitely recommend!

10/10. We ordered the Wagyu Tadaki and it is absolutely delicious! Very tender meat and I love how I could cook the meat on my own the way I like it. I definitely recommend this.

Another wonderful little Japanese restaurant that our whole family loves. If you haven't tried it, please give it a go, as you won't be disappointed!

We dined here a few nights ago and I loved the food.
I had the Wagyu Tadaki and it was amazing. I really liked how you could cook it yourself on the table top BBQ. The breaded beef Tadaki which I shared was also so yummy.

I love the food here! Big portions, cheap prices and the taste and quality yum.always love the katsu chicken meal and the sliced beef dish gyukatsu tadaki.its my favourite really tender with a sweet terrayki flavour.

My sister and I used to go to Tokyo Table every Friday and we noticed there was always busy, but the food is nice and fast service. So we decided to book a table at 6.30pm on Friday 14/ 05/21 for 4 people. I called on Tuesday 11/05/21 to make a booking and was informed that they do not take booking on Friday and Saturday and ask us to come early if we want to dine in.
So I asked my sister who worked near by came early and she came around 5.40-5.45pm that day. However, she noticed there were few table with reservation sign and she raised a question why there was different from what we heard on the phone. The owner said they simply changed their mind as many people asking (which is so wrong) ? Then she told her that IF NO BODY COME AT 7PM, SHE HAD TO LEAVE. I came later around 6p.m and we ordered a salad as an entry and wait for our guest. Then the restaurant became busy and she kept looking at our table like we occupied their table for nothing.
My guest stuck in traffic and said they might be late 15min.
Then the owner came toward our table at 6.15pm and kept saying we had to leave so other people can come in. I told her that according to her, we would leave if NOBODY CAME AT 7.00pm and we DID order food. But it was not 7.pm yet at that time.
She left and return at 6.45 pm and asked us to leave, she said if we come to the big restaurant, they would do the same, and we should pay deposit to have a table which I found it is hard to believe. She kept talking and did not even let me talk. I mentioned that why she took booking of someone else but not me, and if she let us booked the table at 6.30pm, we would not go there early (at 5.45pm) to be humiliated in front of a lot people like that. She lost patience and kept saying she did not mean to upset us (which she already did). My guest came at 6.45pm and we decided "Nah, it was not worth it" and left.

It was a terrible and frutrated experience which I never want to go through it again. I would not recommend Tokyo Table to anyone and definitely not coming back. I hope no one should be treated with the way we are treated. What a shame!

I enjoy the food here at Tokyo Table as they provide Japanese food option at affordable price. I like their pork tonkatsu.
