TOCHI DELI reviews
42One of the best sushi joints in suburbia Melbourne, tucked away in an arcade off Sydney Road, Brunswick.love coming here for a simple all in platter of the day's best, then enjoying it there and then at one of the 4-5 tables available.it is comforting, cheap, and delicious sushi.do not miss out if you're in the area.
First time here today and I have to say, it was worth the wait! Turned up to a pretty big queue, but the sashimi & chicken teriyaki bowl was on point! Can’t wait to come back and eat more!
Probably the best sushi I've ever had in Melbourne. Super fresh and delicious. It costs $35.50 for 9 nigiri which seems like a lot for take away sushi but I'd really treat it like a high end restaurant meal.
Truly some of the freshest rolls and ngiri I've had in Melbourne. I got the medium lunch pack which was traversing on the side of expensive at $18. However, once consumed it became evident that the price coordinated with the quality.
The persistence of fresh sushi unfortunately can lead to time spent in line, so get down early to avoid the crowd.
Seafood is very fresh, but the rice is not good enough, nigiri rice should be more tight and should be the rice with rice wine vinegar. To be honest it’s not worth that price.
NEW FAV LOCAL! Amazing wholesome Japanese soul food. I don’t think you could go wrong with anything you ordered off the menu. Seen some other reviews in regards to wait times, but that’s due to the utmost care and love being put into everything they make. I didn’t have to wait long at all. I ordered the garlic teriyaki chicken and salmon nigiri.heaven Uploaded a pic of the menu I found online below. They have a little whiteboard next to the register that lets you know what nigiri is still available. They can hand make to order once the nigiri in the main fridge sells out.which it will, cause it’s so yummy!
We came at 12: 50 spent 1 hour in the line to only come to the cashier deal when they practically ran out of everything. More over after we ordered we had to wait additional 20 min. It was frustrating to realise you spent 1.5hours just waiting. However it was extremely tasty.
It cost almost $40 for 8 pieces of nigiri, took 45 minutes to receive my order and it was wrong twice. Unfortunately wasn’t worth the wait or money - such a shame
Came here because of the high ratings and glowing reviews.
We had sushi, onigiri, and a miso salmon don. The miso salmon was well seasoned, and the sushi fish was fresh, but it was all expensive for what it was. $36 for 9 pieces of nigiri, and extra charge for ginger and wasabi is upscale restaurant prices. The rice dish could have done with more sauce. The onigiri had flaked salmon mixed in, but was mostly rice and again, pricey for what it was.
Such an amazing sushi shop in Brunswick East! The quality and freshness of the nigiri and sushi is impeccable! Can't recommend Tochi Deli strongly enough - a must visit!
Have been looking forward to trying Tochi deli for a while, and it did not disappoint! We tried all the nigiri specials and they were all delicious! I need more of that salmon belly in my life! The only downfall was the wait time, got there at 12pm on the dot and there was already a long line waiting - we eventually got our food by 1pm, so if you’re keen to try, i suggest to get there early.
We had a tray of 10 sashimi-sushi and it is such a 5-star gourmet experience that took us to Japan. Thanks for healing our Lockdown blues
My new favourite sushi place! The nigiri is masterful and fresh and delicious. Treat yourself to all of them. I love how you can bring your own container ️ but get there early or your sush dreams will be crushed.
Had the sushi nigiri today and it was delicious! I’ll be coming back for more. But get in early as they sell out quick.
Take a stroll up Sydney road to this interesting little kiosk style lunch place. They serve comforting bowls of don buri, fresh sashimi (legit!) and delicious packets of Onigiri. Highly recommend!
I've always dreamed of a Japanese place up this end of Brunswick and here it is! The food never disappoints and the service is above and beyond. Thank you Tochi Deli for making my lunch dreams come true <3
Head down for lunch. Located within Brunswick Market. Has a very homely feel, super friendly.
I had a salmon onigiri. Perfectly seasoned rice, generous amounts of salmon with spring onion mixed in. Slightly torched to give a subtle smokey note. Super delicious.
I also got the Garlic Teriyaki Chicken Don. Served on rice with some pickled beans, carrot and lotus root. The chicken was juicy and tender. The marinade was packed of garlic and ginger. Sticky and comforting. The veggies brought some acidity and cut through the richness.
Overall such a beautiful meal. I would 100% come back to try the other dishes on the main. All up it cost me $17. A little hidden gem that I hope everyone gets to experience.
Everything on the menu is fresh and tasty. You cannot go wrong - just throw a dart at the menu and prepare for deliciousness.
Very friendly owners and excellent AUTHENTIC Japanese food, super tasty. Great for lunch or take away. I highly recommend the salmon rice bowl and onigiri!
Like home cooked Japanese meals. Light in flavour and everything in the dish has a variety of flavours.
Shame it's in such a hidden spot as I never would have seen it I'd I hadn't been hunting down a specific nut a store in this building was supposed to have.
Hope they become a huge success. Melbourne is a Japanese addict but most the food is not genuine in flavour and texture. GO HERE! It's great.
