Tio Tapas Y Vino - Restaurant, Wine & Cocktail Bar reviews
34 This place is AWESOME!
Came here on an important date night and I am nothing sort of impressed.
The environment is chill and has funky vibes and the workers are actually really pleasant and friendly! (Unlike some places on Main St…) Our server Roberto knew what they were doing and was confident in what they were speaking about, and suggested us a fantastic bottle of wine (or two…)
His wine knowledge of the wines offered was unsurpassed – we were really impressed.
Also, he was wickedly funny! – Really added to the overall experience!
The meals were nothing short of amazing. Some Spanish classics (prawn gambas and the paella) with a few modern twists, for the price and experience it is 100% worth it.
Do yourself a favor and go to this beautiful restaurant - Can’t wait to return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anybody searching for the best tapas in Melbourne!
My wife and I just found this restaurant in Mornington with an excellent rating and decided to try it out. Came in quite late at around 19: 45 and there was no queue at all, but a lot of happy patrons. Staff were professional, warm and just lovely!
The paella mixta was a bit of a wait, but it was all worth it! Authentic spanish paella with fresh meat and seafood served on a piping hot plate! The drink selection had an extremely wide range and we were definitely spoilt for choice. Decided to have the usual sangria + corona, and they were beautifully refreshing!
Left the restaurant singing *guantanamera*)
Intriguing decor and amazing ambience.
Tio Tapas Y Vino definitely is our top priority on our Spanish restaurant list. One of the best restaurant in Morning Peninsula area.
Staff were very accomodating when it came to a requirement and welcoming. Almost impeccable service.
The Paella was absolutely delicious, way beyond our expectation. Fresh and perfectly cooked mussels, pieces of Wagyu stead.
We will be back
We were sat in the corner opposite an awesome 2 piece band, that played great background music, the small meals were awesome and filling, and the staff were exceptional
The service that we received was top-notch! From our welcome to the end of our lunch, we experienced customer service at its best—exceptional care and communication when I notified them that I was celiac. I would highly recommend Tio Tapas to anyone who loves tapas and great service. The sizzling prawns were my favourite!
Came here on a suggestion of a friend who has visited many times before and is their favorite restaurant, and we certainly where not disappointed! Made the drive down to visit here (It is around 30-40 mins from the CBD to Mornington)
Place was busy and bustling but we were seated and served very quickly – the food came out nearly instantly! We were honestly very surprised to see the kitchen turn around the food that fast!
The young man who was attending to us was very polite and professional – and it’s honestly refreshing to hear that they’re passionate and love their job – We could tell! The service was all smiles as soon as we walked through the door and as soon as we left!
Excellent tapas, beautifully presented. So delicious. All meals were scrumptious. Fantastic service too. We will be back!
Terrific lunch there today. As a bit of a Spanish food nut I went in with low expectations of seeing authenticity in Mornington. But I was quickly and pleasantly surprised. Nice wine list with a good focus on Mornington Peninsula wines. The Estella draft was fresh tasting and excellent food match. The staff was attentive, really warm and had some good recommendations. Patatas Bravas excellent. Gambas PilPil superb, the garlic oil absolutely worth dipping into with lightly charbroiled toast that came with it. Baby squid was tender and delicious, terrific light red sauce. Whitebait was cooked perfectly, about only slight mishit was I felt they were a bit salty, but depends on taste I guess. Definitely will return and explore further. Quite an extensive menu to work your way through.
Nice ambience, decent service and friendly staff. Unfortunately, the tapas were not as authentic Spanish as we expected – my fiancé is of Hispanic background, her family lives in Spain, and I have travelled to Spain (Madrid, Barcelona, Ibiza) numerous times – also, most of the savoury dishes seemed to have the same garnish (rocket and edible orange flavours), and the deserts were quite disappointing. There's definitely room for improvement, especially after factoring in their prices.
Dined there last night, food, service and ambience were great, I was especially impressed with Manuel our waiter.
Came here last night for a meal with my girlfriend before peninsula hot springs. We were in a bit of a rush but the amazing team accommodated us and the service was attentive and efficient. The food and drinks were amazing and our experience was probably a favourite in comparison to other tapas restaurants (Outside of Spain) we've been too. Ordered a few small plates but we were blown away by the dry aged wagyu which was placed over a blue cheese sauce and drizzled with some kind of jus. Highly recommend this place if you are in the Mornington Peninsula.
I like the atmosphere of this place the most. I found it a little hard to find anything substantial to eat. I know that's how Tapas goes but how many do you need to order to be satisfied? Still over all very good.
Very average dining experience. Wagyu steak was cooked well but tasted like an old leather boot (didn’t bother finishing it) truffled mushrooms tasted like they came from a can and canalone was cold on the bottom and top and luke warm in the centre. Service was confused with wait staff doing their best but clearly under pressure and not realising food had not been delivered. Drinks were incredibly slow taking around 20-30minutes from order. 2 courses arrived before the wine…. There are definitely better places to eat if you’re travelling to Mornington, particularly for the price, $150 for 2 people including 2 drinks each. Left hungry as the food was so bad we didn’t finish it.
Hits and misses. Overall a good experience but needs improvement on portions.
Main feedback is portions are too small for multiple items. Chorizo was $18 for 7-8 pieces. I feel that’s too expensive. The baby squid was $20 for 2 pieces, that’s absolutely ridiculous.
The bread used for the sardines needs to be better. It was dry and crumbly.
The Jamon croquetas were good. Portion and price was gpod value.
The pina colada was terrible. It was basically a coconut milkshake for $15. Nope.
I’d like to return but not at these portions and prices.
Great place for dinner! We had excellent service with friendly waiters. Sat outside on a balmy evening & they brought out gas heaters around 9pm when it became chilly. The food was absolutely delicious and we had 8 different tapas dishes and a jug of sangria. Even tried the dessert churras with yummy chocolate dipping sauce. We will be back soon.
