Tim Ho Wan reviews
63My 10 years olds favourite food! I’ve never seen her eat so much, it’s like I’ve starved her to death it must be good! It’s Delicious
Quick and tasty, good price. It's busy and noisy and we found ourselves all done and dusted in double quick time. Not a place to linger.
Used to love this place. But today was an absolutely terrible experience. I asked a waitress when any of our dishes may potentially arrive - I know it was rush hour but just wanted to see how far off the food was. But instead she at first pretended to not understand me and finally when she understood she snapped at me being like "it will get here when it gets here".
Don't get me wrong I understand it is rush hour but I was just wondering how far off the dishes was - no rush. I have never had such terrible service in Melbourne. Don't think I will come again Disappointed.
My friends were banging on about this place and now that I, 've been I have no idea what they're on about. While the food wasn't bad, the menu is fairly restrictive in terms of usual Yum Cha restaurants and the service and atmosphere weren't good. The time we spent in line outside waiting for a table was time well wasted. Would I come back? Nope.
Speedy order delivery. Very yummy. The menu my not be very extensive but everything on are worthwhile
So I’m going to say what others have said to me. Overrated. Sorry but at average at best. Prawn dumplings still had shells. Pork buns where soooo sweet I thought I was eating a Krispy Kreme. Anyway.had to try it but last time
Food was really good. Tasty. The staff are helpful and prompt. Waiting in line wasn't long and the wait for the food was not long either.
TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT. DON'T RECOMMEND!
First of all, the employees here are not friendly and some of them were quite rude when delivering food to our table. Most of the foods was not hot and quite tasteless to be honestly. They really over charge for the quality of foods we got. They are not remotely close to the original shop in Hong Kong for food and services. Don't order the Vericelli Roll! Really really tasteless.
Love the BBQ pork buns here, they absolutely melt in your mouth. Easy to choose with the simple menu and service is friendly and attentive. Food arrived promptly and absolutely delicious. Plenty of seating available but come early. The pork with rice wrapped in lotus leaves was also tasty. Will definitely come back!
Great location, with friendly service, for a quick lunch with simple menu choices - prawn dumplings, pork vermicelli with the most amazing sauce, chicken wonton noodle soup, crispy egg spring rolls and egg tarts (yum)! Images are copyright.
Such a disappointed experience. All the wait staff not friendly, they worked like robots and without smiles. Even the restaurant was not full.
For the food,
The famous bbqpork bun was quite different than hong Kong, not too bad but definitely not they signature thing.
The chicken feet obviously cook for many days.
Please never try their bbq pork vermicelli roll and pork rib if you are a fan of these dishes. They are super super small portion, and tasteless.
Service attentive but very limited menu and dumplings are much better in places close by. If craving yum cha this place opens till late into the night
Kind of a let down to be honest. Service is quick but the food quality seems like reheated food. At least the char siu bao lives up to the hype. Even the bottomless tea tastes watered down. Is it just this location or are the other THW like this as well?
We had a few items from the menu, everything was consistently alright, not too pricey to be in the CBD, quick service.
Much better than most restaurants in Chinatown.
I know this place from my 30 years in Hong Kong. So it was a tad disappointing to find the Siew Mai too compacted to really enjoy what should have been a tender morsel rather than a chewy concoction. This is not uncommon in Australia as staff seem to compress the meat too much for dumplings.
In fine "Tim Ho Wan" style everything was perfect and well executed, service was impeccable - was welcomed and seated in a timely manner. The wait staff was attentive and helpful, the food came out exactly like the picture on the menu. That's been what makes them award winning, oh did I mention great prices as well, can't go wrong.
Tim Ho Wan is a 1-star Michelin restaurant in Hong Kong. When I heard they had a store in Melbourne I had to compare and their famous baked BBQ pork buns are exactly like their sister restaurants in HK. Deliciously sweet, crumbly, unf.
Definitely earns it's high reputation for amazing food. A comprehensive selection of dumplings, bao and more. Delicious food, great service. There is a lot to like about Tim Ho Wan. Tip: come in a party of three. All dishes have three items.
My husband's favorite restaurant and a Michelin starred one at that. Food service is fast, affordable and consistently good. We love ordering the Baked BBQ Roast Pork, Congee, Golden Tofu, Beancurd Skin with Prawn and Pork, Wasabi Prawns and my husband's beloved dessert, the Mango Pomelo Sago.
Food come fast and fresh but not really great tastes and rather expensive, always crowded and suitable for quick meal only
