Thirty Eight Chairs

We came for Christmas Eve dinner and the experience was amazing. Our waitress Ophelie was on top of everything and she have us the best service ever. We pre ordered 2 glasses of Prosecco and they mentioned as soon as we came in, so extra point for this. Food was so tasty and we definitely loved the Pavlova. We ate coming back for sure, grazzieb team for an amazing night.

This place is incredible, the food, the service, the atmosphere, EVERYTHING!

I came here for the second time with my partner to celebrate his birthday and hats off to everyone who helped in making it a special night. Especially Mimmo, you were beautiful!

As much as we were looking forward to having the squid salad again, (unfortunately taken off the menu) the food was outstanding!

The night was filled with much laughter and friendly banter with our incredible server Mimmo.

We cannot wait to come back next year xx

I was quite excited to try this place out! As I dearly enjoy my Italian cuisine but unfortunately I was let down, I recently went with a group of 6 and found the attitude from staff very arrogant & unpleasant.

As a main I had the (Small portion) of gnocchi and was incredibly disappointed, it was extremely hot to the point where it actually burnt the skin of my mouth, I now have a scar from that I now have to seek medical attention…
It may sound over the top but I can’t chew particular foods for the time being.

Drinks are quite good! Enjoy that

The most yummiest places weather it’s lunch or dinner. The staff and super friendly and the food is 10/10. Eggplant parmigiana is to die for! And have I mentioned the wine list? It’s even better!

Best Italian this side of the CBD - Gino and the crew are awesome, love this restaurant (it’s as close as we’re going to get to being in Italy for a while!)

We had the most wonderful service. Our party had a number of changes and nothing was too much trouble to accommodate! Friendly and super efficient service. The food was DELICIOUS too as was the wine. Cannot recommend highly enough. We will be back!

Food was great but a bit expensive. They tried to hurry us out for the next sitting. We had 2 hours and they tried to ask us to leave after 1.5 hours. Spoiled it for us

Cute and romantic little restaurant. Food wasn’t fantastic but was good. Service was great and we received complimentary wine and olives. Thanks for making the night so special!

Excellent food again. Had the seafood pasta for main (spaghetti with lobster and prawns) - would recommend parmesan and chopped chilli as an addition. Entrée had the special kingfish sashimi and this was spectacular, both light and flavourful.

The owners/staff couldn’t be any more friendly as well as the wide variety of amazing Italian food to choose from!

We had a delightful first visit to 38 Chairs. It was noteworthy that the maître'd / manager was clearly taking responsibility for the overall running of the venue, including personally welcoming and even serving guests. This level of hospitality is, in my experience and opinion, often missing (or below par) in the restaurant industry. The vibe was great, and on a very cold Melbourne night the space was warm and welcoming. Food was fresh and delicious!

A great evening out; very memorable.

Last year I had hoped to be in Italy visiting family for this July and August. Thank God for Thirty Eight chairs and the wonderful team there.for sure its not in Italy but my god its the next best thing! Food was great accepting some minor issues with one dish. Staff were attentive and service was good. Was great to go somewhere and see the floor staff working as a team, being treated well by the owners/managers which creates a nice friendly welcoming vibe. The music was perhaps a little on the loud side but wasn’t a major issue for me.

We had a lovely evening dining at Thirty Eight Chairs with our adult children. The staff were very welcoming and made sure that we were well looked after. They followed the COVID safe protocols smoothly. The birthday rocher chocolate surprise was sensational and it was special to have the staff singing happy birthday. We look forward to dining there again.

As an Italian man, might sound too unbalanced, but i can guarantee that usually is the opposite. I am particularly critic when it is about food and tradition from my homeland. In this case, it is a pleasure to say that Thirty Heigh Chairs did jot just offered outstanding and authentic food (gnocchi with Radicchio, Gorgonzola and walnuts was ad exceptional dish, just to mention one), but provided a level of service definitely above the standards. The environment is warm and elegant at the same time, avoiding those annoying cliches that are iconising italy as what is not (like songs from 60s and random italian pictures everywhere without any criteria). Class and style is definitely more
Representatives, and this place is without any doubt meeting the expectations.

Once again, 38 Chairs delivered an excellent dining experience on Saturday night June 26. The atmosphere was vibrant, the staff were friendly and efficient, and the Food of wonderful standard.
It is a Credit to the Establishment, that notwithstanding the turmoil of all the Lockdowns, they still manage to provide a fun, positive outlook in presenting a superb dining experience.

On a very difficult and rainy night the staff worked extremely hard to provide the best service. We had an outside booking, which would have been impossible, but 38 chairs juggled things magnificently to deliver a great night.

Amazing food and the best service! A cool atmosphere inside and outside love this place will definitely be eating here again soon
