The Village Wine Bar reviews
40This place is fantastic. It is busy most nights, so booking is recommended. The door is an endless train of people with no reservation trying to get lucky, which goes to show how popular and awesome it is. Service is great, fast, friendly but sharp and efficient. Perfect balance. The food is amazing high quality Italian. The fish croquettes on starter menu is worth the journey. Pasta are sensational and wine list is extensive and we'll priced. Will be back, this place is fast becoming a legendary wine bar early in it's existence. Highly recommended
Love to dine at the bar, drink a few top notch glasses from a carefully thought out menu. Asparagus Risotto is to die for.
The Village Bar in Albert Park
I don’t mind this place- the food is mostly very good- the pasta was sensational and the oysters were amazing. Our beef carpaccio was a bit of a letdown, the beef wasn’t even raw! It felt like thinly sliced roast beef.
The manager was a little bit abrupt though - I had a booking at 6 which I told him I would be late but promised to give him back the table at the allocated time, however upon entering the restaurant I felt like I was chastised and hurried. We ate and left well before my allocated time, so there.
This place is the embodiment of all the things missing in Australian hospitality at the moment! The second you walk in you are greeted, all the staff are switched on, focused and knowledgeable. It's a main street of uber Melbourne, but if you don't have a booking they really want to help you stay and do a great job of being a YES place! The food was great. So many places loosing their way in trends and affectation, Village do classic and great flavours, reminding us of days where great dishes were simple but that meant that the ingredients could shine. Wine list is a lesson for the so many boring lists stacked by only a few suppliers, lazy restaurants who hand their wine over to a handful of labels comprimising their integrity. Not so here, thoughtful, well chosen and (for Melbourne) well priced jems to add to your experience. Great place to let the day go by as you eat, drink and are reminded of what the word 'hospitality' means.
My experience at Village Wine Bar was unfortunately marred by an unwelcoming encounter with the owner. Upon entering and expressing my interest in dining, I politely inquired about the availability of menus. However, the owner's response was marked by sarcasm and rudeness. Given the unpleasant exchange, I chose not to dine there, as the initial interaction left a negative impression on my overall experience. It's disheartening when a simple request for information is met with discourtesy, impacting the likelihood of returning to or recommending the establishment.
Had a gorgeous lunch there recently, atmosphere and deco were great, lovely sophisticated dinning. I tired the special duck ragu pasta and it was lovely.
I love this place! Everything from the ambient music, great food & wine and brilliant customer service this is my favorite local wine bar!
My favorite restaurant!

Ambiance fabulous
My happy place!
Love this place. It hits every note perfectly. Stylish surrounds. Accessible Italian cuisine. Great wine selection. Professional hosts and wait staff. Prices range from very affordable for both food and wine to mid priced. Highly recommended.
Ambience and atmosphere was amazing food was delicious and the service was spot on.waiter addressed everyone by name. Great place for catch up drinks or even a special occasion. Hidden treasure.
Yummy Food, Great Value, Super friendly owners and great selection of wines. Definitely will visit them again.
I love this place, family run and loved. The best for any type of catch up, especially with those you love.
Walked in. No reservation. Really warm welcome from the maitre d’. Said we’re full but can sit at bar, no problem. Food was great - fig & prosciutto salad, duck pappardelle & orecchiette. Good wine list. Excellent service, vibrant atmosphere. Lovely local restaurant obviously really well supported.
Very popular wine bar, full both inside and out when I went. Staff were very accommodating to fit everyone in. Good choice of wines.
Stopped for a Sunday afternoon beverage on a hot summer day, lovely glass of Chablis and Heathcote Red. On leaving and paying bill, surprisingly jumped and approached by man whilst stepping out of bathroom assuming an unpaid bill. Hospitality professionalism poor on all fronts, will never return. Suggest improve your in-house communication.
My favorite local. The service is friendly and accommodating. It feels like I’m in Europe whenever I’m here. While it’s not cheap, it’s definitely great food and ambience.
Average food boring menu, caters for the wealthy retired set of Albert Park but a very nice ambience to take your mum
Quality restaurant with quality menu & excellant table service. Good cocktails. Great wine list.
We came upon this cute little place, while out searching for brunch options at 1pm. So.why not lunch? And what a treat it was, the service here was impeccable, the waiter had a sense of humour, we were surrounded by many other doggos, and the food was beautiful and a great way to spend a lovely Sunday afternoon. Some of the highlights were the steak, the beef carpaccio, the fries. Delicious. Relaxing.
Not dog friendly! Maybe I should have known this but the waiter made a lot of comments about my dog saying “piss off” “we get it there’s a puppy” and just little rude comments that made me feel very uncomfortable and unwanted…! Couldn’t believe it to be honest I’ve been here before and had a very different experience. It was also 3pm- relax…
