The Toff In Town reviews
69Bit expensive drinks not worth the price. The music doesn’t fit the vibe of the place. Good aesthetic and good environment.
Attended here as part of the Melbourne Comedy festival. This is one of Melbourne's hidden gems tucked away inside Curtin House on the 2nd level. Disability access is easy with ramps and a lift!
Perfect setting for a quick drink before the show in one of the dimmly lit booths or a quick bite of the Thai inspired menu. Staff are polite, helpful and knowledgeable and quick to assist with accessible seating for wheelchair and walker patrons.
Overall 5 stars and a great place to visit with a wonderful vibe!
Amazing service, they really go out of their way. The only feedback I can give is when we sat down it took a while for someone to take our order, and when someone did another person placed down menus when we'd already ordered. Maybe better communication would help. However the lady that served us after that was great. Very attentive and they ensured out plates were cleared and drinks were full. Food was on point too.
Had a nice date here, really good small plates food and great cocktails too! Not easy to find though.
This place has three areas that I went to:
1. The bar: while I did not order any drinks, the bar was nice and atmospheric, with small private booths and tables scattered around the place. I don't remember it being particularly loud, so it was an appropriate venue to have conversations.
2. The club/ dance-floor portion: this is an entirely seperate area adjacent to the bar. At around midnight on a Friday night it was quite crowded, but not in a cramped, gross way, but simply in an energetic, lively way. The music was good - i recognised a few songs, which is more than i can say for other music venues around melbourne. Also, the fact that this place is a partial club and has free entry is nothing short of a blessing.
3. Smoker's area: this place was also a nice place to have conversations, and because it was outdoors, there wasn't any rowdy music or anything, and it was a nice place to take a breather. All the tables were quite close to each other, so you could easily pull up a chair and join strangers' conversations if you were so brave to do so. For example, these two girls came and sat at our table that we didn't know. We made friends with them and bummed one of their menthol cigarettes. This was my first time smoking a cigarette and unfortunately it was an extremely cool and pleasant experience.
Absolutely amazing. Was our 2 year anniversary and staff were amazing, food was fantastic, highly rate it. Thanks to all that made it such a special night
What a great night seeing Spectoral perform at the Toff. Cozy venue with heaps of drinks and the food was spot on. Good vibe and the acoustics were top notch. I would recommend to anyone wanting to hire a venue for top class artists.
Cosy booth for dark deeds or to hang out with friends. Food is a hit or a miss. I initially loved their pad thai but when ordered a second time it was too dry and lacked flavour. Drinks are average. Service ok.
I loved the smokers area, though I don't smoke, because of the lights and the chain link fences, made me feel like I was in Batman Forever, the 1995 American superhero film directed by Joel Schumacher and produced by Tim Burton.
I imagine myself as the Batman that Ethan Hawke would have played if he were given the role.
Thanks
Yo, whoever was the dj playing tonight, the sound was just saturating like a mofo, just unbearable.drinks and food were good though.
We hired the space for a charity music event!
Staff were fantastic, facilities great and it has such an incredible vibe!
In at 7 out by 9. Probably not targeted at my demographic. Just starting to come alive as we were leaving. Food was great, service fine and $60 a head with a couple of drinks and enough to eat. Modern Asian menu.
It was alright. I didnt like the music too much but when youre that smashed youll dance to any tune really
Went to the Toff in Town a few weeks ago to watch “songs in the key of springfield” it was a lovely building and had a great atmosphere. The act was amazing as well, unfortunately our whole experience was soured by the fact that as soon as we walked in we were met by a team member who was extremely rude in the way he spoke to us. One of my friends had recently had an accident which left them with a broken arm and foot and another was on crutches because of a disability, when we tried to sit slightly closer to the stage to be able to watch the show like everyone else unfortunately the staff member was very rude, he didn’t offer us any solutions and we couldn’t see the show most of the night. I was very disappointed and upset that my friends felt like they didn’t belong when we all paid the same price to be there. I hope in future the venue could consider being more accessible to its patrons and kinder overall as we almost left before the show even began, only staying because of our enormous love of the simpsons. If we choose to go to the show again, we will be seeing it when he plays at a different venue.
Good vibes and the brews aren't overpriced. Good place to hang with friends in the open air.
Cosy booth for dark deeds or to hang out with friends. Food is a hit or a miss. I initially loved their pad thai but when ordered a second time it was roo dry and lacked flavour. Drinks are average. Service ok.
Location is pretty cool, loved the private rooms but I think the ambiente is pretty average.
Dj Gio was amazing tho!
My friend and I popped in early for a drink and food. We were early, around 6pm and I will say we were not there to see music.
The food was very nice however majorly overpriced.
Although it was early and not yet busy staff were very slow.
What always saves the Toff is the setting. The little booths provide privacy and a great atmosphere for catching up or a date.
Always a great venue for drinks and food. I booked a table for a group function over the weekend and the staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming while working out the details prior and on the day.
Great Thai fusion food. Excellent atmosphere with live DJ music and booth seats. Service staff are approachable and personable. Selections of cocktails and wine is reasonable. Can get crowded in the evenings. Potato cakes with green chilli mayo is a great sharing plate with the right level of thickness and crisipiness of each potato slice. Banana chilli jaffles with eggplant tomato and provolone are tasty and unique. Across the dining area is a performancr area
