The Toff In Town reviews
69Beautiful venue but the security wouldn’t let me bring in my unopened redbull (fair enough) so i handed it over (and brought a red bull in the venue) after being told that i would be able to get it when i leave and when i left it was gone. Very disappointed with the customer service here, clearly security confiscated it to drink it themselves, this venue will owes me a red bull
Great little venue for catching a live performance. I haven't checked out the dining area, but was fortunate enough to enjoy a great evening in the band room. Area is not huge, but also not cramped. I would call it intimate. I thought it's the perfect space to catch a gig. I would absolutely be back next time there's a show on at the Toff.
I so want to give this place more than 5 stars. The venue is beautiful and there are private booths and lighting that's a deep, romantic red. Perfect for a date night or a lowkey drink with friends!
Loved it! A beautiful bar. As a former bar attendant I was drooling over the setup. The staff were super friendly. The seating and atmosphere was great. This place has real character. We saw a show over the other end of the venu also. The show was great and the set up over there was good too.
Great Bar! The train car booths are really awesome to sit in and create a great experience. The bar has an extensive cocktail list that will leave everyone happy. The space can get a bit loud and crowded, which can mean it can take a while to get your drinks, but they are worth the wait!
Stood in line for like 10 mins (on a Wednesday so not busy at all) because the bartenders were slow as, and when I did manage to get to the front they completely ignored me and served people who had pushed in across the bar and people who had lined up after me. I'm pretty dark so maybe they just didn't see me in the dim light lmao. Just turned around and walked out, this place will never have my business again.
Easy venue to find, minimal seating in bar area, bar unable to serve mocktails. The decor is nice, toilets are clean and the security are friendly.
What an amazing backbar, complimented by the most welcoming of hosts and a service that is welcoming and informing.
Amazing experience on a beautiful night of jazz, the vibe was perfect. One of the female bar staff was abit unwelcoming but apart from that it was a wonderful night
Attended a gig upstairs, but popped into the downstairs bar as well, its an interesting venue, lots of character! Would like to go to check out the food sometime.
After some dialogue with the Toff via email during the week, I booked a booth for 10pm on Saturday night for my girlfriends birthday drinks. We had been at a bar beforehand for 30 minutes. As soon as we got to the bottom of Curtain house the doorman pointed to two members of our group and accused them of being drunk and refused us all entry. One of the people picked out was a designated driver so not sure if the doorman had misplaced his glasses. We are a mid 40's, mostly female group and had at most two drinks each. I suspect the doorman thought we were too old and not the right crowd for the place. Even worse as I had asked via email to see if it is a mixed crowd and this was confirmed by staff. There was little point arguing but a really experience to the night, particularly as it's been quite some time since we've been out (due to lockdown). I worked hospitality for years (both behind the bar and on the door) and this was poor form. Won't ever waste my time with the place.

I have to add that management got in touch with me and spent a lot of time hearing me out, reviewing security footage and it seems the issue was with Curtain house security as opposed to The Toff doorman. The experience was very poor but made up for by the efforts of Jeremy.
Great Service and staff. Good food. Very affordable. Though just felt ambience could be a bit better. The tap beer was excellent.
Good variety of cocktails all were delicious and the staff are so friendly and helpful. Their customer service is through the roof and will be going back there again! Thanks guys
My friend reserved a table for four tonight. Overall, it was a disappointing letdown of an experience to myself and my party.
More details to come.
An establishment that encourages its security to be rude and unfriendly as a mean of intimidation.
They fire friendly staff that don't meet the tough image they want to portray.
Only went here for cocktails and the service was very good, the drinks were nice and were all $22 each. Will come back in the future for food and shows.
We went there for a date night and had prior booking. We were seated at a tall wobbly table. We requested for another table but were told this or the bar were our only options. The servers brushed past me a few times while walking! As usual the atmosphere was good and the food was good except for the pad thai which I found a tad undercooked and a bit too sweet. I used to really like this place but I dont think I will return
Good vibes all around. Went on a Saturday night and the music and atmosphere was unreal. Nice for a chill drink w mates, bartenders were also super nice and friendly.
Booked for an early dinner for 2 on a Saturday night and had one of the booths which was lovely! The food is consistently good at Toff and it all arrived really quickly which was great given all the dishes we ordered… the chive dumplings were a winner.
The booths are great, the vibe is good, the bar staff are friendly. The music is bad, and when they make the unfortunate choice of swapping the playlist for a DJ, the bad music will increase in volume inversely proportionate to the DJ peen size.
