The Sports Bar at Highpoint

The bar maid was doing an amazing job and I ordered a weak flat white and a skim cap (these have been our staple coffee order for 30 years and it never changes) - but also ordered a lemon lime bitters and paid cash, but didnt get a receipt.she said to come back in a few minutes and it would be ready at the bar, so I did wait several minutes, but when I came back to the bar, she was caught up serving a host of other customers; (all good no problem) - she then called another barman from somewhere else and and told him to make me a " skinny flat white and skim cap " and I corrected her and reminded her it was a weak flat white (not a skim flat white) and the other drinks were a skim cap & lemon lime bitters.
So he asked her if it was paid for to which he said yes, and then he went back and made drinks and gave it to us.
Unfortunately he made a latte instead of the skim cap and when the person with me said they couldn't drink the latte due to dietary issues I took it back to the bar and told him we didnt order a latte.
However he got agitated and said he would bet his life on it that I said latte.
I told him I didn't want an argument or anything (but he got all agitated and I felt intimidated). I asked the girl to confirm that I didnt order a latte (which she did confirm).
I asked her to find the receipt
- which she did, (but while she was finding it he walked past and told her not to worry about it). But she got it for me.
The guy was very unprofessional especially as I was older. Maybe he didnt respect older people of color like me or maybe he was just naturally aggressive but it made us feel threatened and uncomfortable.
This one star review is not because he might have got the orders mixed up or if I said Latte or not- it is about how he dealt with it - a very unprofessional staff member on the day dressed with unruly long hair and baseball cap backwards in black.
Counselling in dealing with elderly customers is reccomended.
The female barmaid was very professional and has assistant manager potential.

My friends and I have been coming to this venue for quite some time now and one of the main reasons we have been coming back other then the free pool on sundays is the assistant manager Carl, he treats us all like family and makes our nights out quite fun, I hope this review gets recognised:)

Wonderful place to spend a Sunday w free pool and drinks to drink w mates, and the lovley favourite bartender Carl; one of the best and hard working

Great coffee. Awesome place to hang out with mates. Great food. No issue with parking. Clean toilets. Everyone minds there business. It has that American pub feeling. That's all I got to say.

Me and my group of friends have spent the last month or two coming to this venue every Sunday for their free pool special, not only does the venue provide the opportunity for free pool (I am yet to see another venue so the same) it is accompanied by the amazing service of Carl, every time we come it is like he is apart of the group and we absolutely love him, we will continue to come every week

1st time here to watch the footy:) Carl looked after us like we're long time mates! Thanks for an amazing time!

On arrival had to clean our own table, get our own cutlery and the floor was filthy obviously not cleaned in a while.

Ordered on the app, food took 40 minutes to arrive after we followed up (no apologies) only to get one of the worst parmas and worst fish and chips we have ever had. Parma tasted overcooked/tough with a vinegar/sour taste to it and the fish and chips looked and tasted like a meal that should have cost far less, overcooked, no salad not good at all…as if a child had just pulled a frozen meal put of a box and chucked it in the deep fryer.

Never again.

We have been attending the hotel now for a while and have always had incredible service and support.
A very special mention to Carl who has always been incredibly professional, kind, and supportive to our group and is always making sure all patrons are cared for.
If I could give him 10 stars I would.
Food is always good and service is great!

We come here quite regularly about 3 times a month.
Staff are fantastic and Carl is extra special. He’s always helpful, polite, friendly and a real gentleman.
He’s an asset to your company.
The food has been really good as well and we enjoy the ever changing specials menu.

I wish I could post a 0 but unfortunately I can’t. I’m usually a big fan of ALH pubs but this one is an awful shame. The food wasn’t as pictured in Me&u and what we did get was extremely mediocre. I spilt my entire drink because I was startled by the buzzer (which is my fault) however, I went to the counter to nicely ask for a cloth and the waitress handed me a single paper towel. I had explained to her that I had spilt my entire drink and she just handed me more tissues and offered no assistance. Mind you this was a Monday and there were hardly any other people in the venue at the time. All the staff members look like they’d rather be anywhere else. Lastly, the entire hotel was filthy, layers of dust everywhere.

MANAGER Ana and staff are very helpful. Ana is the best she served the best drinks. I never enjoyed my drinks as I did what she served me. She is a real asset to The sports Bar at highpoint. I will always come back as long as she is here.love u Ana

Delicious and large meal size. Value for money especially when you only pay half price for being a everyday rewards+ member. Bargain

A friend and I with our 5 kids visited the venue for dinner, I can not speak highly enough about the food and friendly staff in particular Carl! This guy went to every measure to make sure the kids were entertained and we were well looked after, hosting the kids with games and activities whilst us adults could wind down and relax!

Carl and Erin have been absolutely wonderful, I'm not from Melbourne this is the one place I known but these people are the best bar tenders I've ever delt

Great for a drink and too watch sports large big screens and very spacious place, lots of room to social distance too

The food is absolutely incredible. The staff are great but the waitress that night was more interested in something else other than giving us our food.
