The Pond Cafe reviews
53Delish food! Waited about 25 mins for takeaway. But 100% worth the wait. Make sure you get the brekkie burger and the avocado toast. Literally insane!
Such a good spot for breakfast, great service. Highly recommended the avo toast and breaky burger
The smoked salmon Tartine is incredibly tasty and fresh. Works well with the poached egg on top. Had this with the fresh Lychee cold pressed juice which was refreshing.
The area outside is dog friendly which makes it easy when your out exploring with a doggo. The staff were lovely and friendly. Would recommend!
The gluten free options were amazing. The food is very tasty and the vibe of the place is very nice.
Fantastic experience at this restaurant. The beef brisket sandwich i had was superb. Will be returning to try other dishes
We sat outside the view of the ocean was so relaxing, the staff were run off their feet but were very friendly. Food was really nice.
Food and coffee were ok, eggs weren't very warm when the first lot of food came out and we didn't receive cutlery so when a young man brought our coffee we asked for some so those that received their food could start eating only to be told he was too under the pump and that was a waitresses job to get it! Needless to say we were all flabbergasted at that response
For future reference a better response would be 'No problem, I'll get that organised for you' and then ask someone to bring some out, my husband ended up going in to ask for cutlery by which time the food had gone even colder.
Not a lot for seating for groups larger than 6 The lovely young lady that helped us organise extra seating for 9 of us to try and sit together but 4 others in our party decided to eat elsewhere.
We paid $168 in total for a fairly underwhelming experience.
It may have been the staff got overwhelmed with the amount of people at the time as some other reviews have been great but this was just our experience
Nice atmosphere and always busy but heaters were not working outside and was very cold despite the sun shining so bring a few layers.
Great yummy food with a view, menu is fresh and filled with unique creations. Loved their breakfast burger It's a must try. Also tried their brisket sandwich and Porridge. Must visit place in Torquay.
I was expecting good things from this place because of the reviews, unfortunately though I was given a very bad impression. To be fair it was a busy day, but I waited 30 minutes before being told they forgot to take my order, after which I waited another 20 to eat it. It was good, if a bit smaller than I expected after spending $22 on it. My glass was also given to me dirty - after I poured my canned kombucha in, I saw two specks of dirt I had to remove with my finger.
I expected them to make it up to me for waiting 50 minutes for my meal, but they didn't. A single dollar off would have been appreciated. I didn't know about their weekend surcharge either, adding $3 for a total cost of $30.50. I'm very sad to leave a bad review because I had better expectations for such a well-reviewed cafe.
We weren’t that hungry so we only ordered a beef brisket sandwich to share, and it turned out to be the best one we’ve ever had. Coffee was also really good. Would recommend dropping by for a cuppa or the sandwich!
Got served burnt coffee and a blonde staff member was rude and impatient, we didn’t even order food there due to how bad all 4 coffees we ordered were.
Excellent service and meals were quick and generous sized (sushi bowl and the big pond breakfast). On a cold day, coffee needed to be a bit hotter. Outdoor heating Beautiful sea view.
Perfect spot very dog friendly and staff are real nice.
Right over the road from the beach️

My table top was so dirty I could scrape the grime off with my fingernail.
The coffee was ok.
Great couple of lunches here - just had the cauliflower tacos which were extremely tasty - my mum had the brisket sandwich which was massive but also full of flavour. Service was good but nothing special.
This is my go-to cafe. The food is always delicious and the staff always lovely and accomodating (even when they’re crazy busy which is often). I have my go-to meals but everything I’ve tasted there is excellent and my cappuccino always served to perfection. The location is also wonderfully situated on the esplanade so you can sit outside and gaze at the ocean as you enjoy your cuppa. Highly recommend!
Absolutely delicious. The breakfast board is amazing. Delicious granola, corn fritter, avo, poached egg, homemade chutney & fresh OJ
The most amazing coffee and I ordered 2! Staff is Uber friendly but if you're sitting out beware of the magpies as they will peck your food. Great view, but not much options for a hot veggie breaky apart from your standard AVO toasts.
Portions were generous, service was quick, food was tasty. Got the sushi bowl it was yummy! The brisket sandwich is also apparently one of the besy ever
