The Oak & Anchor Hotel

NOT DOG OR CUSTOMER FRIENDLY AT ALL!

We went to have lunch today and we had our very well behaved Springer Spaniel with us, we were made to feel incredibly unwelcome and told that we were only allowed to sit in the smoking area right next to 6 portable toilets. We sat at a table in a concrete area outside where a girl rushed over to tell us we had to move, whilst she was doing that another family of 5/6 people also sat next to us with their dog, then your lady manager arrived and was very rude, told us we had to move or leave and with that having just paid for our drinks, we drank them and left straight away as did the other family next to us. We were the only 2 families in the whole venue at the time! Great business sense and probably lost you about $200-$300! You are based in a holiday town where the majority of families travel with their dogs? Definitely would not recommend to anyone!

We just finished up a beautiful stay in the Bridal Suite at the Oak and Anchor and it seriously exceeded expectations. Beautiful renovation of a stunning heritage property, lovely, kind staff, and a very comfortable bed. The hotel is located centrally in port fairy, with great access to everything you need, and a very fun bar. The breakfast was yummy and the coffee is great! The balcony in the bridal suite is absolutely massive and the bathtub is huge and relaxing.
We will absolutely be staying here again. It’s owned and was lovingly restored by lifelong locals to the town which is very sweet.

Beautiful accommodation and gorgeous place to stay. The whole town is really beautiful and everyone is so welcoming and friendly.

The rooms give the impression of luxury & are well decorated. The bedroom & bathroom were openplan. In the Lulubel suite, the toilet was visible from the bed. It's not ideal. The tea & coffee making facilities were awkward, and there was nowhere to access luggage except lifting cases onto the bed. We were a bit disappointed.
There was an issue with hot water, which was resolved quickly, and the breakfasts were first class.

Easy.just go.

Came here for a drink and snack after being caught in the rain on a big walk. Sat outside near the open fire and had a couple of delicious small plates and wine. Great location and lovely venue. I would imagine the summer would be lovely there.

We enjoyed the delicious $55 chefs selection menu, beautiful food, wonderful service and such a warm, friendly atmosphere in a gorgeous dining space. Thankyou Oak & Anchor and Ally for a lovely mid-week treat night out

Pretty hotel in the centre of Port Fairy! Beautifully designed with spacious rooms. Unfortunately the lawn bar / restaurant were closed when we got there on Monday afternoon, but plenty of options in town.

We had a wedding at this location and the staff were incredible, they went above and beyond to assist for a smooth running event, the food/catering was absolutely incredible and just added so much elegance to the experience…I would recommend this venue to anyone.thank you

What a cozy great place to stay! It has been a wonderful one we‘ve had here. A cool tube, great bed and wonderful friendly people. Breakfast was at Bank St.with a voucher. Thanks!

Loved it! We just completed a stay at this inn. Very comfortable, spacious rooms, excellent amenities. The decor is very chic. Dinner is well worth booking. And the breakfast at a nearby sister cafe was scrumptious with very good barista. Highly recommend! I would note the 10am checkout: plan accordingly.

We stayed 2 nights in the bridal suite. It was amazing, so comfortable and roomy, we even had a great balcony to sit outside. The seating could do with a clean though as you had to dodge the bird poop. We had dinner in the restaurant on the first night. A 2 course set menu, we couldn't fault the food it was excellent and so was the service. All staff were friendly and helpful. The position was fantastic, an easy walk in to town and the market was on across the road on the Saturday morning. Highly recommend the Oak and Anchor and would definitely stay there again.

My partner and I just got back from a blissful weekend away and we absolutely loved every second of it at The Oak & Anchor. Not only is the accommodation just stunning, but so are all the staff, the food and the location. Everyone and everything about it made our stay so enjoyable and we really didn't want to leave because of it. We can't wait to come back early next year to indulge a little more in Port Fairy xx

Our 3 course set menu for $70 was delicious. The slow cooked beef cheeks were superb. Staff were efficient, friendly and extremely obliging and well informed regarding gluten free requirements. We had a really lovely dining experience. We will be back!

We were a walk up, so had to be out by a certain time, but this was well communicated to us on arrival.
Opted for the 3 course set menu option and the food was fantastic, could not fault a thing. Staff were efficient and friendly. Drinks/wine list was small but had a very good coverage.
Would highly recommend you give this place a try!
The only thing I would do differently next time is book beforehand!

Wow wow wow! What a stunning hotel! The rooms were beautiful and so well thought out!

Due to the restaurant below (which served an incredible dinner and great morning coffee) you could hear some noise from the activities below yet otherwise our stay was sublime.

Aircon struggled a little bit with the cooler temperatures yet the blankets were nice and warm and allowed for a really comfortable nights sleep.

Great boutique hotel in a wonderful location close to everything. Lovely restaurant attached, delicious food in a nice setting. Staff were friendly, check-ins easy, all round positive experience

Magnificent. Super chill and welcoming staff. Setting is warm and inviting. Food is delicious and very affordable. Highly recommended.

Is it a pub if there is no beers on tap? Nice old building with a rather too modern interior. More of a wine bar than a pub. Shame as the outside is stunning.
Dogs are allowed but only the front outside seating area.

This restaurant is amazing! Fantastic atmosphere and food was so good! Had great service from Ally, nothing was a problem and went above and beyond. Would recommend to everyone ️
