The Montague Hotel reviews
48Classic corner pub. Friendly and helpful staff, typical good pub food and a congenial atmosphere. They will see me again.
Such a great local! Love coming here during the day outside in the sun. They are totally welcoming to our mothers group and all the babies
Parma always hits the spot
A great pub with friendly service and tasty eats! Caught up with a few friends for a drink at the bar and easily settled in for dinner. Looking forward to returning soon.
Great local for good pub food with a few specials worthy of a restaurant. Great value. Importantly, welcoming efficient and friendly service.
Nice casual pub for a Sunday lunch. Great friendly service. Food came out pretty quick, piping hot and nice portions.
I got the Sunday roast which was beef. It was decent but would have liked a bigger portion but I am a big eater. The Yorkshire pudding was quite dense compared to others I have had (I’m from the UK), the sides were cooked perfectly, it was delicious.
The desserts were all very well made. Between our table we got the full menu choice. Sticky date pudding, apple crumble, crème brûlée, chocolate pudding. Very generous portions and the hot desserts came out piping hot. Very yummy. All would be a good choice.
Great pub, food and service is unreal. Good vibes. But the nib wall as you enter the men’s toilet scares the absolute balls out of me. Be prepared fellas
I would't recommend this pub. The only reason we chose it anyway is because its local and near our church and we have a lot of elderly people who are not as mobile as they used to be. After making a booking with one of the manager's staff (a lovely lady), the manager calls up and cancels the booking the next day throwing her staff under a bus. You just need to refer to the nasty replies to negative feedback below ranging from "you ate all of your food" why complain to "It's a shame we can't review customers" haha.
1) Supervisor?: Oh sorry i've cancelled your booking for 10 to 15 people the best is I can do for 4 people.
2) Customer: Oh? How did that happen, this is why I made a booking!
3) Supervisor?: Reason is my staff doesn't understand the process and double booked you. (Staff knew when we walked in which tables were booked for next week and which tables weren't)
4) Customer: Really? But it was on a computer and you were there at the time your colleague made the booking.
5) Supervisor?: I didn't know someone had already booked at the time you made your booking, and she overwrote the previous booking
6) Customer: Oh? Then how do you know who the initial booking was done under? And how do you know it was overwritten?
We booked on Sunday 12: 15 (almost empty at this time) for next Sunday at 12: 00 and today is only Monday. They only required us to call back 1 day early to confirm.
7) More cover-ups more nonsense. I just hung up
I would think twice about eating/drinking/booking or working at this place if supervisor treats not only customer but also staff in this way.
Really welcoming pub that captures all the natural night in the afternoon. Nice and lively atmosphere with patrons spilling into the outside tables, and a real locals vibe. A good variety on the menu but maybe slightly on the speedier side for what you get. I did enjoy my fish burger and Stacey enjoyed her beef burger, although might have both been better with chunky chips.
One of the oldest but still has that vibe. Great place to catch up with old friends and also make new ones.
Wide range of spirits and good food. Can't go wrong with a chicken Parma
Good food, service was great and really quick. A little noisy if you are looking for somewhere quiet for a chat though but good atmosphere if you don't mind the noise.
My 2nd visit here, enjoyed both times, really good quality food with a range of options, even have GF fish and chips. Staff are friendly, prices are fair.
We leave Australia this week and so enjoyed the Montague being our local pub. We and our 2 dogs have been welcomed by the Team. Food, wine and service always good. Great atmosphone.
We had dinner last night before a tram ride into town to see Mary Poppins. Our meals came promptly, were delicious, and our kids were made so welcome. Eloise was absolutely delightful and couldn’t have been more welcoming.
We were a family of 4 with teen kids and had lunch on a Sunday. The service was friendly and welcoming. The food was outstanding. My husband declared it was his new favourite place. We'll be back.
Worst steak I’ve ever had and worst mushroom sauce too…. Service wasn’t that good tbh. They should go back to basics
Great local pub. Excellent pub food (including a great curry) friendly service. Thanks for looking after us.
Well laid out, great space at the back for bigger parties. Food was great, a little
Pricy but not above par for the area.
Will return
Popped in here for lunch before heading to the airport to fly home and wished we had found it sooner. Quality food at a reasonable price, great ambience and really friendly staff. Definitely recommend it if you're in the Albert Park area.
Went for the first time recently and I was impressed with the really friendly service, Food was lovely too.
A friendly and welcoming place with accommodating staff. The food is decent. Nothing flashy or special, just decent. A place to go for a nice beer and fill your stomach. There's a nice outdoor area but it's still not bad inside. If you're in the area, you won't be disappointed if you come here.
