The Mill Castlemaine (whole site - multiple businesses) reviews
58My favourite spot in Castlemaine. There is something special about walking in history and experiencing the present at the same time. What a great idea to allow local industry and businesses to rent these creative spaces.
This is a fantastic collection of vintage booths all in one big location. I found some quality second hand clothes. They also had a large selection of crockery, furniture, vinyls, toys and knick knacks. They also have change rooms so you can try clothes on before buying.
Awesome massive collection of individual vintage and collectors stalls. Could've spent hours and hundreds of dollars in there. Next time!
Located just opposite Castlemaine botanic garden, the Mill Castlemaine is a creative hub which offers a wide range of shops with different collectible and unique goods. Lots of vintage clothes, hand-made jewelry/deco items, household items, furniture, etc.
They have a common area with benches to sit down and relax. Even got a table tennis there for you to play. Public toilets are clean too.
Loads of off street car park in the area.
There are some wall art works in this hub, also some cafeteria and brewery too to offer good food and drinks.
We went on Australia day, so there are 10% surchage for food + drinks. Some shops were closed though but still worth the visit.
Free to entry the Mill Castlemaine.
Highly recommended if you are in the area. Can spend hours here.
The Mill is mad.far too many things to see and feel. You'll only come back for another look SO don't worry too much you can buy that weird statue and take it home next time.interesting place to bump into people AND things appear reasonably well priced.l left last time with a Tibetan Shirt and a Japanese Utility Knife - essential ingredients for life on life's terms. All the people who worked there were cool.
Shame i was there on a monday.the food halls werent open.i cant wait to get back there when the place is pumping!
Perfect destination for a family day trip from Melbourne. Botanical gardens are opposite of this lovely complex.
Lots to see would need a couple of visits to take in all there is to see. Plenty of signs re toilets, ramps rather than steps
I love that atmosphere of the mill and it is very affordable and a relaxing environment I would recommend this to people that like vintage and older items 10/10
Great Bohemian country escape. Nice wine, beers, cider and great meals. A foodies haven. Great bazaar to keep you busy looking for someone else's trash to make your treasure.
Interesting place to visit. Great shops. Plan to spend a couple of hours here. Well worth the visit.
Loved it all but especially the cheese Kransky at the cafe, fresh fruit'n'veg and the local cheese and wines.
Definitely worth a wander around. You could easily spend a whole afternoon sifting through the vast amounts of 'vintage' items. We bought a few things, and browsed the food stalls. Worth noting that on a hot day, there's little to no air-con but plenty of shade.
Possibly my favourite mill market
Great open space, easy to walk around and not to cluttered
A mish-mash of shop & stalls. It was easy to get lost in this sprawling old wool shed.
I seemed to be walking from one side to the other in a maze of side alleys & undercover walkways. I didn’t really know what the place was all about. I am only guessing that it was a group of individually run “places” all over the wool shed. Everything from a restaurant, which was closing when we arrived there at about 4pm. To an ice cream shop, amazing ice creams by the way, to a local produce shop, then a huge secondhand area. A bakery that I stumbled on, and bought bagels. Then “over there” was a brewery where warm mediocre beer was served.
The layout was very confusing.
Huge variety of items and pricing. Friendly staff. Nestled amongst some nice looking cafes and just across from the Botanic Gardens. It is located in the old mill which adds a tonne of character.
Went there for brekkie, no option for vegans 1 option for vegetarian. No tomatoes mushie or spinach avail. Poached eggs n/a really. Coffee service slow and paying bill, cashier easily distracted by other staff and customers.
An interesting collection of old and new. Best to avoid unnecessary stress by using the carpark to the fullest.
Enjoyable experience in the Mill. We did not particularly want to buy anything at first but we ended up taking in something. There is a wide range a retro, vintage and exotic items. Warmly recommend it
Amazing place old time memorabilia will just blow you away. Chocolate shop, bakery and coffee available when you need a break
