The Mill Castlemaine (whole site - multiple businesses) reviews
58Been a year since last here place has gone up market prices have also gone up pity used to be agreat place too grab a bargain
Great combination of businesses. Drinks, lunch, dinner. Cheese, chocolate, wine, beer, art, bric-a-brac.
Interesting selection of stalls offering vintage products. Fun place to explore on a visit to Castelmaine.
Nice stuff. Different businesses under one roof. Some stuff a bit over priced but a good experience all the same
Nice place to buy second d hand stuff. Some items are.over.priced but a good experience all the same
Quite disappointed with the lack of variety in the stalls.
Really lacking in atmosphere.
It was ok. Nice place to visit but super expensive. A chocolate coated nut (just one) $2. Cheese and small goods overpriced. 1 small packet of ham with 3 slices $12.
Heard so much about the Mill, was excited to go, but it was not easy to find the art spaces and a lot weren't open. Paid an exorbitant price for a standard coffee $8.50 at the German cafe and yes the artisan ice cream was nice but at $6 for the baby sized scoop, we walked out feeling a bit ripped off actually. Seen much better value and quality elsewhere. Disappointed.
Great combination of businesses. Drinks, lunch, dinner. Cheese, chocolate, wine, beer, art, bric-a-brac, art.
Castlemaine is a great place to hang out. The Mill Park is opposite a lake and botanical garden. You can find good shopping options, antiques, and so much more. It's easy to park. It's amazing to see so many vintage booths all in one place.
I went to Castlemaine yesterday for a day trip, mainly to the Artist Market. A stall owner recommended I go to the Mill if I had time. What a pleasant surprise! I enjoyed a couple of hours there, have spread words among my friends and will visit again and stay a bit longer next time.
Awesome place to hang out at Castlemaine. There is a lake and a botanical garden right opposite the Mill Park. There are options for good, antique shopping and lot more. Parking is no hassle. Ample of parking available inside and outside the property. Nice and clean place to relax and eat. You might enjoy the rustic and ancient look of the property. Had a fun time. Would recommend to take detour and visit this place if you are travelling between Melbourne and Bendigo.
What a find! Handmade chocolates, artisan cheeses, a Viennese bistro with delicious food, excellent service and divine decor, and one of the best vintage markets I have ever been to (Platform 5).
The markets at The Mill in Castlemaine are truly an eclectics dream.
Set up inside the old mill, there are a huge number of stalls, and its easy to spend a full afternoon wandering in wonder at the treasures.
Plenty of car parking, but be advised its not sealed.
Easy wheelchair access in and out - and around- the place.
Kid friendly.
Inside toilets.
Really interesting spot with a number of local businesses and initiatives.
Well worth making the trip to check them out
Good place to "mill" around (pun intended). Big variety of stores.
Must visit at least once in your life.
Parking spots for oversize and undersize.
Carpark needs surfacing.
It was fine, only issue was fire alarm was set off. Cut viewing short. I didn’t mind but partner was gutted - next time I guess
I had my 60th birthday there yesterday, a Monday, with my family and it was wonderful. Fabulous, considerate waiters and food perfect for many tastes and a freezing winters' day at Das Kaffeehaus.
If you like vintage stuff (trash & treasure some might call it), an Austrian themed Cafe (Das Kaffeehaus), Chocolaterie, Artisan Cheese, ice creamery with whimsical flavours, original artwork with artists' onsite, Brewery, retail winery & an organic vegie shop - this is the place to visit.
Each of these retail space is interconnected with entries from outside & within. Well sign-posted to find your way around. So different from other regional Mill markets which usually only have the vintage part with a basic Cafe thrown in. The vintage building faces the large carpark & is quite big. Located opp.the Botanical Gardens- so you can happily spend a few hours around this area. The yesteryear hot air balloon basket is pretty interesting as is the Japanese clothing & 1800s replica Samurai armoury (Darth Vader's visage must have been inspired by the Samurai helmet!)
Come prepared with your insulated cooler bag with ice bricks - Castlemaine has great fresh produce & monthly markets esp.on weekends.
What a range of retro gear. I didn't know where to look first. Friendly staff. Great prices. My favourite of all THE MILLS.
