This place is a smaller offshoot of Northside Bouldering. While northside is larger there is much to be appreciated for this little spot. Upstairs is a cozy stretching space and out the back is space to park bikes securely off the street. Despite the reduced space there are plenty of climbs as they really exploit every inch of space for more routes. Sunday usually isn't too busy and even when it gets busy it's rare to need to wait for a route to be available. Most are on an incline with one wall dedicated to a full overhang so it might be challenging for a beginner. This is balanced by the large number of beginners routes and the high availability.

I love the lactic factory because of nostalgia, it was the first and only bouldering gym in Melbourne for a long time. It can get quite busy though, it is a small gym, and when it is busy it can be hard to get a climb in. The people there are generally friendly though and the playlist is good, most of the time:)

Got verbally harrassed by a climber in front of the receptionist.who was overly possessive of her boulder problem. Staff said nothing while this happened in front of them.
Climbs are alright, but the people make this gym not worth going to the many other great venues in melbourne
Would not recommend.

Great friendly climbing atmosphere in a room of challenging climbing routs. With a good mix of begginer and intermediate. Little pricy but a great way to spend the afternoon.

Great little bouldering gym tucked away in the back streets of Collingwood. Some great lines to play on with plenty of variation depending on your skill level. Shoes available to hire. If you can I suggest bringing along some chalk and tape for the blisters if you have office hands like I did!

Excellent hard bouldering and nowadays also good warm up and intermediate grade problems! Shame it's a little crammed up in there, but it makes for a cosy experience.

Small bouldering gym but very good, a good variety of climbs at various levels as well as some very overhung routes, holds are tight and padding is soft

Small gym with plenty of routes to keep you busy. The one thing worth mentioning is the that the wall is not texturized with sand, so smearing is out of the question.
Some basic workout equipment like a campus board, hangboard and rings are available though.

Great place to go bouldering, mainly traditional style compared to modern competition style. Can get a little busy during the evenings.

Great problems, friendly staff, good music - not too loud. Problems seem to be regularly rotated so there's always a new challenge. Nil chance of running out of routes before I run out of grip strength!

Original melbourne bouldering gym, great atmosphere and with weekly events and friendly staff. A bit expensive each session but you have access to a small gym upstairs and shoe hire is cheap. Definitely recommend bringing friends but not in groups that are too big!

I have to pay to fall a lot and lose my ability to hold things and use door knobs? I guess its worth it.

Fantastic little bouldering gym, decently priced and with a surprising variety of climbs for the size of the place.

Smaller and cosier than Northside boulders. Tailored more for stronger climbers and less for beginners, there's nothing less than vertical here and most of it is steep. The problems are still fun if you're strong enough to do them! A bit of a trek to get to through public transport from the city.
