The Kingston

Looked very appealing when i walked past while visiting Melb so i went there for dinner last night, the staff were great, it was expensive and when the meal of veal para came out i was dizgusted, no presentation, bland, not worth the money. Had a glass of red $13, went to the toilet which were disgusting as well, never to return. Very dissapointed.

Fabulous night celebrating a special birthday at Marble And Pearl on Sat 30th Oct. Pietro's service was fantastic!

Fantastic venue
The Crab was deliscious and the staff were lovely.
However, considering steaks are their main event and not cheap it was dissapointing.
We had the hanger and fillet both were way overcooked and not rested.
Pity as we loved everything else.

Fabo Reno. Food…. Well maybe because it was a Sunday night. Indifferent staff and the food, even though it was well cooked just wasn’t that tasty. Would give it another try

Thank you for the exceptional experience - everything was perfect. From the lovely birthday greeting on arrival, to the super comfy booth, attentive service and truly delicious food, we had a wonerful lunch. It's been a long time since I've struggled to decide between menu items but there was so much temptation on every page. Everyone loved their meals. For me, the Beef Wellington was exceptional - flaky pastry, tender beef and very generous portion size. Can't wait to visit again.

It was OK for lunch on a quiet day. I waited for a long time for an indifferent, rather dry chicken schnitzel, the fries and the salad were good.
The 2019 Tar and Roses Heathcote Shiraz was excellent. I drank two glasses and took a bottle home.

Absolutely amazing food and service, staff are high skilled. Thomas made our table some cocktails, the smoked negroni was insane honestly wasn’t expecting it to be that good, held its Smokey flavour so well, incredibly smooth. Bloody chefs kiss

I was looking forward to visiting the newly renovated Kingston, being a local we had been to the pub many times pre-reno. Overall it was … disappointing… very loud and the dinner table I had booked turned out to be 2 small side tables that could barely fit a plate and glass. The waitress messed up my order and I received a whole Snapper instead of fish and chips. When I politely mentioned this to the manager he said they would not refund it. I didn’t ask for a refund, just the difference of $20 would have been sufficient. We won’t be going back.

Beautiful decor at Marble and Pearl. Food was well prepared and delicious. Loved the natural oysters, super fresh! Steaks cooked perfect, followed by a very decadent chocolate delice dessert. Our waiter Jordan was amazing considering the place was super busy and very loud.

Great pub food and fantastic service - felt like a local who had been going there forever, highly recommend.

Have a great dinner at The Kingston last night. I've booked Maple&Pearls for the BD celebration. I was very impressed with the service and food. I will be back again for the next celebration.

Service and food could not complain about.

The ambiance/noise level was ridiculous for the money that you are paying at a pub. The prices are that of fine dining and this is not resembled at Marble and Pearl. In addition the tables where around 1 foot close to one another which was very very uncomfortable and again for what you have to pay.

You ask would I come back the answer is not until I know The Kingston has made some changes.

Stunning venue, love the decor.
The food and drinks are equally as impressive.
Definitely one of best restaurants/bars in Richmond, up there with Public House!

We had really been looking forward to our first visit to Marble & Pearl.

The online menu and wine offering looked excellent.
What we could see of the dining space online looked opulent.

Upon arrival last night the reality did not live up to the expectations.

The acoustics were shocking. The two of us were sitting at a small table for two and could not hear each other. We could not hear the waiter (Max, who was THE BEST waiter we have ever met) and he could not hear us.

The noise was so bad it hurt. The space needs an acoustic consultant to do their magic real fast and real well. The space also needs a few less tables and people in it.

We had to select three different wines until we found one that was actually in stock.

We both had been looking forward to ordering a good old-fashioned Caesar Salad or a Prawn Cocktail as a starter. Another disappointment.

The Caesar Salad, made at the table was not available (and from other reviews I have seen, it never has been) and the Prawn Cocktails that arrived were very poor quality, mean and sad.

A highlight was the mains we ordered, a whole flounder and a medium-rare aged rib-eye steak. Both meals were excellent. Done to perfection, excellent quality, generous proportions and memorable.

Until something very effective is done about the acoustics we shall not be back and will not recommend this place to family or friends.

The wine stocks need to be sorted.

The quality, size and ingredient selection of starters like the prawn cocktail really needs to be lifted.

Ambience and acoustics = 1 star
Max our waiter = 5+ stars
Value for money = not convinced.

Lovely place for dinner and will be back to sit in those nice comfy chairs to enjoy a cocktail or 2.4 of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal in very pleasant surrounds. The service was excellent…. We were very capably looked after by Max who made some very helpful suggestions from the menu and wine list.
All in all a great night!

Good service! Went for a peer review group meeting, it was a bit noisy but had a good happening vibe about it! (More so after the renovations) Liked the octopus and caviar, liked the affogato. Overall the food was good!

Had a great meal and fabulous night at The Kingston. Special thanks to Renata for accommodating us so kindly at a table inside and to the owner, John for the chat and laughs. Great team, great service, great atmosphere. Definitely coming back. Thank you.

The revamped Kingston is a ripper. Stylish fitout, awesome beer garden, classy dining area, great food and an attentive team.

We had a catch up with old school buddies last night at The Kingston. Excellent service and the food was great. Love the vibes and the new decor. Well done and we will be back.
