The Irish Times Pub reviews
66This place wasn't the place we thought we were going to and having walked past it uncountable times and not noticing it, I was surprised. A tiny pub! But friendly barman and good food which was generous in size. However it was really noisy (we were upstairs and everywhere was timber so bouncing sound) and a broken postmix tap which made very flat drinks which didnt excite us. A good pub for a quick meal after work - too noisy for a catchup over drinks.
Authentic and genuine Irish pub experience. Food is pretty good. Prices are to be expected but 13$ for a pint of black is enough to give you a heartache.
My wife and I ordered Fish & Chips most of the others in our party had burgers & parmas.
Our fish looked more like a kipper, it was thin dry and hard and inedible. I should have put the plate on the seat next to me so the water leaking from the hole in the roof could moisten it up a little. The wait time for drinks at the bar was typically 15mins with only 4 people waiting. The 1 overworked barman who also delivered food and 1 girl behind the bar who didn't know what most of the drinks and beer was. They only saving grace for this pub was the Irish band playing music later in the night. They worst pub food & service in 40 years.
Terrific Irish pub in the heart of Melbourne's CBD. Staff are friendly, beers are terrific and the atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect in a great Irish pub. Recommended highly.
We came here to try their Christmas lunch, which was $60 pp set menu… And this is what we ordered:
Entree: Garlic Prawns & Lamb Cutlets
Mains: Roasted Turkey Breast, glazed with honey, rosemary & thyme.served with mash herb tossed green beans & cranberry jus.
Dessert: Christmas Pudding & Panna Cotta
Good food, with a good service. We particularly loved the prawns & the lamb cutlets.
We now regularly come here for the drinks & the live music every Fri & Sat - 8pm till late.
Would not recommend eating here. Didn't think you could go wrong with a shepherd pic but they certainly did. The waiter had is t shirt half hanging off and dripping in sweat put me off from the start. Could not finish it.
Quaint Irish bar in the heart of downtown Melbourne. For anyone looking for an Irish pub vibe, this is your epitome. The live music on Saturday nights generates an atmosphere if you knew about, you wish you could be a part of. A little pricey on beers but it's worth it for the atmosphere.
Dont go here if ya wanna chat! But.awesome venue for a fun vibe and pub type dance later on. Classic music like the Eagles and pink Floyd played while we were there. Really cool vibe and venue, nice staff. Just not if you want to talk.
Nice little pub, good atmosphere and not too loud so you can actually have a normal conversation without yelling at each other. Service not the fastest at times but at least that's kinda authentic, right?
Very kind service. The man let me use the toilet after I needed to go in a hurry. I even offered to buy a drink but he said there was no need to. If I wasn't in a rush, I would've stayed for a drink as I have been there before and it's a great venue. Thanks very much to the kind bartender.
Staff were friendly, but the food was only so so, and the toilet was a war crime, I literally said "Jesus Christ" when I walked in.
Came in for UFC 257. Cosy pub with friendly staff.
Always had a cold beer on the table and food was tasty too.
TV screens and sound are not the most up to date ones but the atmosphere was nice.
Amazing food! Incredible selection of beer! Awesome atmosphere! Great staff! Loved our visit here! We'll definitely be back next time we're in Melbourne
Nice taste of an irish pub in the centre of melbourne, also actually know how to pour a pint of guiness!
Food was absolutely amazing! We had pies on our first night and steak on our second. It was faultless. The barman (cathal) was such a nice guy, even though the pub was busy he still accommodated everyone almost alone as the 2 girls were nowhere to be seen for some reason. He's a great barman. Would highly recommend the Irish Times to anyone visiting Melbourne
Excellent burger, chips and pie. Will come again. The dreary melbourne weather suited the meal perfectly
Great vibes and music, I forget the band's name but they played really well and made the night unforgettable!
I would be keen to come back here. Great cozy place, upstairs and downstairs, good vibe to the place. Meal was ok, beers of course great! Very good service.
Never felt more at home in a pub before. Husband took me out for dinner and we had to go back the next night. It's cosy and comfortable and beautiful Irish scents everywhere. A great selection of drinks and kind and friendly staff. The waygu steak is to die for absolutely perfect! Can't wait to back.
Easy place to go for a pint and some food. Watched England play rugby against USA. We won. Nobody in the pub was watching ;) I prefer cosy downstairs.
