The Irish Times Pub reviews
66 A Hearty Evening at The Irish Times: A Chicken Parmigiana Delight.
My quest for the perfect chicken parmigiana led me to The Irish Times on Little Collins Street, and I must say, the experience exceeded my expectations.
As I entered the pub, the ambiance was quintessentially Irish, with a warm and welcoming feel. The extensive menu offered a wide range of options, but my focus was laser-sharp on the chicken parmigiana. My partner, opting for the renowned beef and Guinness pie, added an extra layer of excitement to our dining adventure.
The serving size of the chicken parmigiana caught me pleasantly off guard—it was colossal! A substantial chicken breast, panko-crusted and adorned with a delightful trio of Napoli sauce, ham, and gooey mozzarella cheese. The first bite revealed a tender and moist interior, a testament to its careful preparation. Accompanied by a side of crisp salad and golden fries, every element on the plate contributed to a satisfying balance of flavors and textures. Each bite was a journey from the crisp exterior to the succulent chicken within.
By the end of my meal, I was not only satiated but also impressed by the generous portions and quality of the dish. The addition of Kilkenny further elevated the experience, making it a hearty and memorable feast.
Sampling my partner's beef and Guinness pie was equally delightful. The ample filling of minced beef showcased a thick, smooth texture, with the subtle infusion of Guinness adding a distinct depth without overpowering the palate. The harmonious blend of herbs added a pleasant complexity that enhanced the overall taste. The creamy mash potato and baked mozzarella cheese crown on top were a perfect finishing touch, adding a comforting and indulgent element.
Observing the bartender indulging in the same chicken parmigiana for his dinner was a reassuring sign. It reinforced the authenticity and quality of the dish, attesting to its popularity even among those behind the bar.
In conclusion, The Irish Times at Little Collins Street delivered an enjoyable dining experience. From the welcoming atmosphere to the colossal and flavorsome chicken parmigiana, it's a spot that caters to those seeking a taste of Ireland in the heart of Melbourne. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to fellow chicken parmigiana enthusiasts and anyone in search of hearty, Irish-inspired cuisine. Sláinte!
Had dinner upstairs. Shepherds pie vegetarian burger KFC cauliflower curry chips all good. Irish music played through speakers
We came here for a farewell party for a colleague. Wonderful atmosphere. Warm and inviting!
The absolute worst experience ever, I witnessed the owner scream uncontrollably at woman, grab one by the hair and throw her on the ground, then to proceed to to pull another girls hair and scream at her face. I saw a bunch of men try to fight 2 men and the owner fully encouraged it. NEVER go here. Who on earth allows this?
We called in for a quick bite, and we had the most delicious Shepard's pie, absolutely scrumptious. The service was excellent, staff very friendly. A cute little Irish Pub.
I love a good Irish pub and this one might be my new Melbourne fav. Perfect for a Guinness & shot of Jameson. The Buffalo Wings and Potato skins were some of the best I've had. Customer service was good, especially given all that places are going through with all the COVID restrictions.
Nice cosey pub with a beautiful selection of food. Portions are large and you'd want to be hungry to get through a 3 course meal. Delicious
Love the pies, friendly and welcoming service. Comfortable and cosy atmosphere. Nice place to have a meal with a few cold beers.
A great pub to sit down and have a meal, share a pint and maybe meet some new friendly faces.
Nearly always showing sports (AFL, Football, etc) including fights (UFC, etc) and the atmosphere is always top-notch.
The staff are solid, usually very upbeat and funny. Food is very nice too for such a small pub. Live music is always a blast.
Basically, just come here.
Good pub food. Great atmosphere. Irish dishes are great, fish and chips and burgers a bit bland. Fish fillet is a pre-made product. Staff are lovely.
As pubs go, this is a good place for a beer. Food is really good.
Service is fine, but it could use some work.
Great little Irish pub tucked away in the finance end of the CBD. Staff are very friendly and they know how to pour a Guinness. Make sure you order another when your first pint comes out to get the timing just right!
A very friendly neighbourhood bar in the heart of the city. They couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome. Five stars!
Guy behind the bar was rude and it absolutely stunk like body odor and sweat. We left without finishing our drinks the smell was that bad.
The Beef and Guinness pie was nice with chunky pieces of beef. But would have loved some pastry or thicker mashed potato.
Onion rings were good. Staff are very laid back.
Whist it lacks the palatable tension of a Irish pub during the 80s. The lack of secretion violence and supply of Irish beers and cuisine makes up for it.
If you like cheese. The beef and Guinness pie has lots.
We ate here tonight and couldn’t have been happier. Nice vibe when we walked in, ordered the potato skins and two fish and chips. The fish and chips portion size was so good, nice amount of chips nice portion of salad and two fish! Food was so tasty, gonna try go back before we leave. Would definitly reccomend.
Yeah, enjoyed our meal and pints of Guinness. Only disappointment was there was no veg served with my steak. However, will return.
Great place went with my son and his girlfriend people friendly and enjoy the decor and the cider hope too come back soon
Had a nice time at the Irish Times Pub. The ambience, the service, the crowd, the food, everything was awesome. A must visit place
