The Holland Foundation

I spent the most meaningful time as a volunteer at the Holland Foundation. As an international student, this was my first job experience in Melbourne. They taught me how to do things right in the local market. Everyone here is incredibly friendly and patient. They help me practice a range of skills including customer service, admin, everyday banking, bookkeeping, and payroll. Although I was a volunteer, I felt like I was the one being helped. Highly recommend for anyone looking to gain valuable experience and make a positive impact.

As someone who had been volunteering here for over one year, I can say that volunteering for the Holland Foundation has been an enriching experience for me and definitely something I needed. I have learned so much about work here it has helped me to find out more about myself and boost my self confidence. There were times where I felt challenged, but I believe that is because Grant believes in me and wants me to succeed in life, and I greatly appreciate him for it.

I had an amazing experience working at The Holland Foundation where I not only learned numerous skills but also had a chance to work with other volunteers who have been very warm and friendly making the store a positive and lovely place to work and learn with Grant and Helen being the best people to learn from.

I am more than thankful with the training I received and the welcoming attitude of all members in the foundation. Hellen and Grant are amazing mentors, they guided me to fix my CV and my interview skills and I got a job just a week after I met them. Undoubtly I would recommend The Holland Foundation to any person interested in learning how the Australian labour market works because you will receive training in many areas that finding a job would be much easier. Moreover, you have the opportunity to meet and work with people from all around the world which gives you the chance to be in a multicultural work environment.

I first came to this program in something of a rut, having been out of the workforce for several years, and having had my self-confidence bruised. The Holland Foundation gave me an opportunity to rediscover my personal strengths and skills, and to share those with others. They have given me invaluable experience and training, and I am eager to learn more from them. And being located in one of of Bentleigh's busiest shopping centres, where business owners are often on the lookout for staff, does not hurt. ;)

So much more than an Op Shop! I volunteered at the Holland Foundation as a mentor and have learnt so much about teamwork, leadership and building confidence in a supportive and friendly environment.of course with life lessons and fun along the way. Thank you!

I completed my uni placement at Holland Foundation as volunteer trainee. It was a really fulfilling placement for me as I got to help people gain employment. The Holland Foundation is a great place to start your career, regardless of who you are or where you are from.

It is a holistic role to fulfill as a volunteer and you will learn almost everything you need to know to operate at any workplace, and most importantly, you will have exceptional mentors in Grant and Helen. They will guide you and ensure that you feel at ease in an positive and upbeat working environment.

In my personal experience, the volunteers have been fantastic people to work with as well. That will also help new volunteers transition into the organisation.

I am thankful for being a part of Holland Foundation Team for ages because Helen, Grant, and all volunteers have taught me from scratch. They are dedicated to guiding me for my customer service skills and work-related skills with all provided procedures. Such a wonderful experience I would love to embrace in this non-profit organization. They helped me scale up all my soft skills, especially my reliability by noting down my mistakes on the document, so I can grow up more. Without all their help, I could not become a real man at work. Additionally, I like the variety of vibe in this organization and that instills me in the mindset of working relationship that I like to have with others and improve my communications. I have started my volunteer program in Holland Foundation 3 weeks back. During each shift I could learn the working of a retail outlet including tasks like customer service, banking, reconciliation, interviewing and store management. The Holland Foundation is a great place to work with a multicultural team and a management focused on mentoring new job seekers. This helped me in my interviews and resulted in getting a full-time job.
