The Groove Train Chirnside Park reviews
42Good food but the workers are unsettling.it’s like being in one of those creepy movies where the workers just oddly stare in an eerie fashion.one of the waiters was wearing juicy couture tracksuit pants with diamond on her behind.purely unprofessional.
As a customer it's a very nice place to go for breakfast, lunch and dinner or even for a few drinks.
However as a former staff member it was not so great.
This was the first job I obtained that I "applied" for with barely an interview (I was a customer and asked to see the manager who pretty much gave me a position as wait staff)
Too good to be true? Maybe.
I didn't get the training I needed and was expected to know things even though I had explained several times that I was new to all this but very eager to learn. I did, however get help from other newly appointed staff who had prior experience.
When I got this job I was not informed about the necessity of obtaining an RSA for this position until about a month into the job.
From this time there was much pressure to obtain my RSA or not be allowed to work.
With such short notice it didn't leave me much time to think more on it or even look for other work. Therefore although I'm still on their books I haven't worked for several months.
In saying all this, the floor staff are extremely helpful, friendly and courteous. Recommendation; customer only.
Paid $49 for a steak, wasn't cooked properly, full of fat, had potatoes with it absolutely terrible, won't be going back
Impromptu dinner after shopping. Very welcoming atmosphere. The server with the glasses was very nice and warm. The food is good as usual. The chippy was good. The only thing is that the mushroom sauce was very runny and would have preferred to be thicker. Dessert was okay.
Also would have liked if they provide kids cutleries too.
A lovely environment to come for great food and exceptional service. I came with my 3 kids and was seated straight away, our server introduced himself and asked my sons how their weekend has been and gave them his full attention whilst I looked for drinks to order. Our drinks and food were ready in what I would personally say was quite fast from the time of ordering and tasted delicious, plenty for myself and the kids. As someone who has working in hospitality before I know what it’s like to work hard without recognition and I would like to push that forward. To our server Archer, thank you for looking after my kids and myself, and finding ways to keep my kids in their seats! Great restaurant and staff, highly recommended.
My partner has Ordered through Uber eats twice, once our order got cancelled randomly with no explanation. I’ve just called the store after waiting 30* minutes clarifying that my order would be delivered however apparently their kitchens just closed and she’s going through and cancelling all the orders. The order is on the Uber app, after waiting 30+ minutes no apology was quite rude and said” I shouldn’t of ordered”
Quite disappointed, save yourself the drama and go elsewhere
Looked like new service staff. Meals did not come together wait long time for one meal. (4) Coffees were cold and had to take back to the counter as no staff came near us once served. Coffee replaced with another cold coffee. No apologies no money off
Groove Train used to be a go to but no more
Great young staff who were polite and caring
Thankyou for your service
Food was good and service was quick
Friendly staff and quick service! The food is always good quality with a huge variety of options. There's something for everyone! The booths are quite comfy. I'd definitely recommend booking ahead when possible, as it's quite a popular and busy location.
Only suggestion I could make would be turning the aircon up in the summer, as once you have a hot meal Infront of you the heat can get overwhelming.
Always a good feed at The Groove Train. Too many choices to be made. I had the parma special which could have done nicely for two of us. It was so big but very tasty. Well done GT.
What a lovely Restaurant.friendly staff awesome service will be going back again, 2nd time here
Been here a few times for dinner and breakfast. Great service Adam and his team are very friendly and the meals are amazing. One of our favourite places to go.
Just had dinner here and would absolutely not recommend.
The wait staff were lovely, but unfortunately the food had zero flavour. We had the risotto (which we gave up on after a couple bites) and a $50 steak that was left half eaten as both were incredibly bland.
We were offered a complimentary cake by the staff to make up for it but decided not to worry as we just wanted to go to the supermarket to go home and make our own dinner.
Service was very slow. My pot of tea arrived after my meal. Given there are staff shortages there are in hospitality, it might be better to reduce the number of tables so the pressure is taken off the kitchen and drink staff.
Was here tonight to celebrate my partner’s Birthday and sadly disappointed; The Beef Cheek, which I have ordered before was approximately half the size as the last time I had it, yet I didn’t notice a reduction in price. After we finished our mains and our plates cleared, we didn’t see or hear from any staff again until we beckoned someone over to ask for a dessert menu. We were told by the waitress that she would get them for us. 10 minutes go by and still no sign of our menus or any staff to ask. We then had to phone the restaurant from inside the restaurant to get someone’s attention. It was then we were told that they don’t have dessert menus but do have cakes etc on display we can choose from. Slightly confused, we headed over to the cakes to choose our desserts; this is where the confusion turns into befuddlement and more disappointment. My father asked if there was sticky date pudding which he had seen on the menu (remember the non existent dessert menu) and was told “yes, that comes from the kitchen”, however minutes later back at the table, he is told they have run out. When he questioned this and if there was a ‘time limit’ to ordering dessert, he was slyly told ‘basically yes”. Our desserts were served and again we were left feeling disappointed not only with the Nutella tarts having no taste of Nutella in them, but the inconsistency and attitude of the wait staff. My friend who had asked for the menu originally received an apology from the waitress she had asked for it from because she had ‘forgotten’ to bring the menu…the dessert menu that apparently doesn’t exist. It was fairly obvious to us all that the staff just wanted us to leave so they could go home and this was solidified when a waitress came over to say ‘not to rush you, but we are closing in about 10 minutes’. This is at 8: 41pm and according to Google, the restaurant closes at 10pm. You have made it very clear tonight that you do not want my business (happily took our money though) and so you will not receive it anymore
We were here on a Sunday for breakfast. We ordered the shakshuka baked eggs and chilli scrambled eggs. The "baked" eggs were just 2 over cooked fried eggs on top of a tomato sauce with chorizo. Not sure how the chorizo was cooked, it looked almost steamed, definitely wasn't grilled or even fried. The chilli scramble was overcooked - bits of yellow/yellow brown balls. An underwhelming serve over a piece of grilled sour dough. The sour dough had a spread of chilli jam which was overpoweringly sweet jam rather then with a mild chilli kick. The so called sambal was invisable just a few thick slices of red chilli. I notified a very lovely server by the first few mouthfuls, she notified the "chef" who said "sorry". After another 1 - 2 mouthfuls we realised it was I edible & we got up and left. When paying we notified a different but again lovely server who was apologetic. I advised him we'd pay for 1 of the meals (I really didn't want to pay for either) and the server was fine with that. The so called "chef" couldn't possibly be qualified. A chef does not get eggs wrong, even a half decent one. Terribly disappointing experience as we were sure this would be our go to breakfast joint.
Food is average for what you pay, I had the slow cooked beef nachos the beef felt like it was cooked 2 days ago and reheated several times.
My wife had the Pasta Pescatore and it was as bland as a piece of toast.
My brother in law had the Garlic prawns and calamari and there were 2 prawns and 3 pieces of calamari.
Disappointing experience all round.
Meals were delivered quick, lovely atmosphere. Most staff were very helpful and polite.
Food was tasty however the pasta I ordered was slightly overcooked, the sauce made up for it though.
Would definitely visit again to try something else on their menu which has a massive variety on it!
Loved it! Good customer service. Food came out in a timely manner. Food was yummy. Didn't like the nachos but everything else was nice!
I was especially impressed that the staff got us 2 high chairs for our babies. You don't get that kind of service everywhere! Thanks guys!
Food was excellent, service was even better, the young man that served us went out of his way to ensure we had a good time.
