Very impressive and still only a work in progress! I would love to see the finished product (it will take years I was told, so much intricate painting to do). Was great to intoduce the children to Buddhism, explain how this religion is devoted to compassion & peace. The children had great fun completing a statue hunt in the garden (a page of statues to find was provided at the entrance). The Cafe had great vegetarian meals - highly recommend the samosa's and panini!

Magnificent, peaceful and tranquil place to be especially for some self-reflection despite different religions or beliefs.

Located just a short drive out of Bendigo, The Great Stupa of Universal Compassion is the largest Buddhist monument in Australia and they also have the largest gem jade Buddha in the whole world as the name suggests.

We went on Australia day 2022 and they still open for public. However part of the road lead to the place was closed so we needed to take a short detour. The detour road was a bit rough but still easily acess by any cars.

Free to entry. The whole area is quite big with some gardens, some prayer wheels area and the main monument with different statues. You can donate by cash in the box or they have a cashless machine for card donation too. Unfortunately, the monument is still under construction/renovation for awhile now. Hopefully, it would be completed soon so there will be more events and areas for visits especially inside the monument.

They will check proof of vaccination. If its paper proof, not the app, they will check your ID too to ensure that its yours. Masks must be worn indoor.

They offer daily guided tour by very friendly and informative staffs.

Having a small shop and small coffee shop too. You can check the StupaView coffee shop's menu in the photos. Quite a good range of options. We went on a very hot day and they sell Bulla ice-cream too for $2/each. Surprisingly, their latte were very good too.

Overall, highly recommended if you are in the area. We drove from Melbourne for 1.5-2 hours and its still worth it:)

The Great Stupa of Universal Compassion is Beautiful place to visit in Bendigo, what a Peaceful place, never imagined i could see this big Stupa In Bendigo or even in australia, it’s beyond my imagination.
They are still doing the construction which I think is not complete according to the master plan, not the stupa, other things. Stupa in between the jungle, meditation centre, Monasteries, small Nepalese Ganesha Temple On the side As well, and there were other buildings we couldn’t visit because of lack of enough time. It’s a Must visit Site in Bendigo, One of a best place to Visit In australia.it’s completely Different world. Prayers wheel remind me of my childhood, even I am not a Kind of that religious Person.

Nicely designed Tibetan stupa, with a large collection of Buddhist relics. Some areas still under construction.

Amazing place. Grand stupa. Lots of events and festivities planned throughput each year. Gardens are getting better year by year as the stupa has been under construction for sometime. Tours inside the stupa are great and memorable and so is the gift shop. The surrounding landscape is simply breathtaking. Quiet and serene. BUT NOW it’s NOT SO AMAZING since I’m banned from entering even though I was not recommended to take the THE CURRENT vaccine due to the effects that I will receive.

Lovely place to walk around. We went on a day it was over 30 degrees and I recommend not to as we ended up going back home. Came next day when it was cooler and it was amazing. A peacefull environment, kind staff and it has a Cafe. Toilets are available on site too.

It was a good stop to admire a vision. This place is probably going to take generations to shape up but each generation can leave their mark.

Blessed to have visited finally! Although a lot of construction is still on, the inner sanctum offers a surreal peace the moment you step in. I was lucky to spend some time chatting with a monk and learnt that next year shall see more events happening in the premises. The statues presented are truly magnificent and the pics won't do justice to the grand scale and feel of the place. Go Visit.

Still under construction after many years, this Stupa is a large Buddhist temple which has an associated retreat and a cafe area. The Temple is grand and imposing on the surroundings, while still blending in. Prayer wheels line the front side.the gardens leading up to the temple contain a dozen different statues and other significant places of reflection and meditation. Once inside the temple, all people are welcome to attend, not just those who identify as Buddhist. There are several large statues, and smaller ones. A museum section of Buddhist relics and other museum pieces. Inside there are still large areas of construction. The Temple has guides which provide an brief but informative tour of the various objects within. Our guide was excellent, full of knowledge and able to answer questions. This is a bit off the beaten path but well worth the short detour. We spent an hour here, but could have easily spent longer, particularly if dining at the cafe.

This place is a must see if you are in the Bendigo area. We visited over 5 years ago and it is still under construction as it relies on donations; there is no admission fee. A lot has changed, particularly in the garden area, since we were last here. There are many statues and other items around and it will take you about an hour to have a really good look. A very pleasant monk is there to greet you as a guide and answer your questions. Refreshments are available at a cafe. Do have a look. Oh, and please leave a donation. My wife and I are pensioners. If we can manage.
This place really stands out as a must-see.

Constructive feedback for management, I had organised a visit over the phone for 3 of our clients and 2 caregivers but was not informed over the phone that the clients would need photo identification
and this is not mandatory in Victoria at present given the pandemic situation, however they had their current vacation certificate, so we were all turned away and not allowed entry into this attraction it is particularly unprofessional when we go to a lot of trouble to support local businesses like the Great Stupa, I think management needs to streamline the booking experience as people will not come back if you give them a difficult experience.

(Something to ponder over)

‘More compassion from your team for the human kind’ this will leave a more positive visitor experience as I was once the manager of one of the largest tourist destinations in Victoria and used good judgment in many various situations.

After hearing my late father talk about what a wonderful place The Great Stupa was our family decided to visit and bury his ashes in a wall memorial. The work Angela did to accomodate our requirements on short notice was fantastic, and the blessing ceremony conducted by the Venerable Jampa was just incredible. I couldn’t think of a better place to bury the ashes of spiritual loved one who isn’t specifically religious.

I would say this is one of the best temples I've ever been in Australia. We were able to worship Sacred Relics of well-known Theros in Buddhism. It is not that easy see such relics from naked eyes and it is such a rare opportunity. Not only that, the temple has designed in a really attractive way. There's lots of things to learn and for those who like to do meditation, there is a meditation area as well. There is a cafe to have a light meal and coffee while having a chat.you can even buy some amazing souvenirs as well. Highly recommended for a visit

Interesting place to visit. Something very different and the jade buddha was special to see. 4000kg of solid one piece jade. The gardens were very interesting with the sculptures. It's a work in progress but defiantly worth seeing. The monestry is about a 5 min walk away and defiantly well worth the visit with the garden exhibits.
