The General Lake Tyers Beach

Have been here several times for coffee and danishes, Great coffee and sweets. Also have had breakfasts and dinners here all were great! All food was delicious and staff are amazing. Highly recommended!

Had a great afternoon coffee and treat. Lots of gluten free available as well. There is no competition in town but does not need to be this coffee this good.

Delightful lunch with the wife on a winter Monday. Wife's BLAT was tasty, great bread, and generous in portion. My burger was yummy! Good bread, bacon, and salad. Nice drinks with each. Lovely decor, good vibe and staff who chat! And have fun getting rid of flys (we are in the country!)

An awesome place for brunch - twice!
This gorgeous cafe is located down near Lake Tyers Beach and it seriously has it all! We visited a couple of weeks ago but the chef was unwell (meaning there wasn’t a full menu on offer) so we grabbed a breakfast roll and bacon and egg croissant. The food and service was so good that we decided to visit again when the chef was back on deck and we are so glad that we did!
This time we both decided on the Chilli Prawn Scramble and the dishes were so good that we are still talking about them! You can always tell when a chef uses premium ingredients as it’s always a flavour sensation!
In addition to the great food, the staff here are so friendly and really attentive. The atmosphere is relaxed and so much attention has gone into the decor that this place could easily be located in Melbourne.
That said, the vibe is really casual and there is even a downstairs / outdoor area if you have a bigger group or just want to dine al fresco.
Would definitely recommend this cafe - I know that we will be back and will be revisiting anytime we are in Lake Tyers!

10/10 - this place is an absolute gem. The breakfast croissant was amazing, full of flavour and great pastry layers. The coffee was also standout. We will be back again.

My partner and I each had their chicken and fish burgers which were large and full of flavour. Brought the enormous vanilla slice and scone home too which did not disappoint. The stand out here is staff and how incredibly hospitable and approachable they were. There's an outdoor courtyard where you can sit down with your dog and enjoy the weather. Had to take our family here the next day as we were that impressed. I cannot fault anything here - really love everything about this place. Cannot wait to go back.

One of my favourite cafes when my partner and I visit Lake Tyres (which is 7km from lakes Entrance) is called "The General. "

Located near the end of Lake Tyres Beach Rd, this cosy café has a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes it the perfect spot to grab a cup of coffee or a quick bite to eat.

The menu offers a range of options to satisfy any craving. Everything is made fresh and with what I found to be high-quality ingredients. They also have a good selection of desserts which I found to be perfect for a mid-day treat.

The staff at The General are friendly and welcoming, making my every visit to this café feel like catching up with old friends. They are knowledgeable about their offerings and are happy to make recommendations or customize orders to fit dietary restrictions.

The combination of delicious food and warm hospitality make it a must-visit for me every time I am in the area, but don’t take my word for it, give it a go yourselves.

Superb place! We spent several days on Lake Tyres and kept going to this wonderful cafe. Everything we had there was of an excellent quality and taste. Can especially recommend savory croissants and scones, and the unbelievably tender carrot tart. And of course, coffee! And homemade roasted in honey musli with yogurt and fresh berries.well, you’d better go and try it yourself: everything they sell and make has a personal touch to it. Everything they use is from the best local producers (mmm, the honey! Mmm, the rhubarb jam!) … and of course, the friendliest personnel and the impeccable service add to the impression (plus the place has been recently renovated - so very clean and cozy) … A real find 350 km from Melbourne - we will definitely return!

Lovely quirky little cafe with shelves full of local products to choose from as well as delicious meal options to choose from. We went downstairs to a funky little seating area and had our orders delivered wrapped instead of plated for safety reasons. This did not detract from the quality of our burgers. Between the 4 of us we had a fish burger which had a tasty large piece of fish plus salads.a Blat, yummy.a smoked chicken and slaw burger and an egg and bacon.all were excellent. The staff were very friendly and we felt very welcome.

The best burgers around. We had the fish burger and the fried chicken burger and it blew our minds. Don't forget to check out the cakes too, those Portuguese tart pastries wow. Really enjoyed the new outdoor courtyard area out back and the terrific murals downstairs and outside on the wall. Can't wait to go back.

If only the food and service could align. Not impressed with service, have to climb steep stairs to order then back again to pick up order. Not ideal for older people or disabled. Felt service could be much friendlier. Really put me off. If I was just after food I could go anywhere but if I don't get the service then why bother. I'd compare to Nick's at lakes. Always super friendly and pleasant no matter how busy they are and the food there is always outstanding. I'm after the whole experience not just food! As a young business they have a long way to go.

Such a beautiful reincarnation of a previously old and tired general store. Superb coffee and service, plenty of local pantry goods and deli items to take home with you. Small but very nice menu and plenty of cakes to choose from!

A great little place for brunch. The chilli scramble is delicious. The coffee is the best in the Lakes area - Melbourne style. Would definitely recommend a stop here for breakfast or lunch. The staff are friendly and welcoming.

Used to be great to be able to get take away fish n chips when staying at the caravan park or going to the beach. Very disappointed in the place now. Not the useful shop it once was.
