The Forge Pizzeria reviews
47 Was recommended the Spanish restaurant on Armstrong Street but they were full.
After sussing out what else was on offer, we decided to go for pizza and was certainly NOT disappointed.
They found us a table for 2 by the bar. Noting that the pizzas were sizable, we decided to share the Mushroom Tartufo pizza, the pumpkin salad and a bottle of Hepburn springs sparkling water.
The pizza was yummy but it was the salad that proved to be the jewel in the crown.
This easily toppled my previous favourite, a pear salad from Trattoria D'Soumah, an Italian restaurant in the Yarra Valley.
The Forge Pizzeria's pumpkin salad was, in a word, exquisite.
This is definitely a recommend
We were visiting Ballarat, and came to this lovely restaurant. We tried several of the pizzas. They were all delicious, my personal favourite was the cheeseburger pizza. We had gluten free pizza bases as well, and they were great.
Would happily come back here next time we visit.
Thanks Forge team.
Great space and delicious pizza. All about the base with fresh hornet toppings that aren’t covered with cheese. Loved it
Ultimate place to dine in. Limited menu but top class preparation. 10/10 for service. Garlic bread is to die for.
Best pizza in Western Victoria and a really nice vibe too - it's a great venue but not over the top. Staff are really friendly and the service is pretty fast even when it's busy. Can't go past the roast pumpkin pizza!
First time here. Ordered a pizza and the gnocchi to share. Both delicious. Nice vibe. Spacious. Quick and friendly service.
Just. Delicious.
Mostly very lovely staff, great pizza and drink selection!
Cute room/s too
Wow, what a great Italian restaurant! Everything about The Forge is amazing. We had the Forge Feast which offers a selection of freshly made gourmet Italian dishes served over a few courses. Some of our favourites of the night include the most amazing grilled prawns you’ll ever eat, crab spaghettini, to die for cheese and spinach tortellini in butter sauce and of course their amazing pizza. Regarding the pizza, it doesn’t actually matter what’s on top (it’s all great) all of the magic is in their amazing base! Also, I can’t leave a proper review without mentioning the friendly staff and head chef (who personally stops by to have a chat see how our food is)!
The Forge Pizzaria is a fine restaurant with both professional and lovely staff. They seem to make it a top priority to ensure that their customers are comfortable, checking to see if they need anything and even somehow reading my mind by putting heaters outside when it got chilly. However, this is where I give four stars as they do not seem completely onto the concept of where food is meant to go, or perhaps this staff member may have been new but even so numbered systems are much more efficient so problems like these don't occur. I do recommend to the restaurant to take such a system into consideration to avoid giving meals to the wrong people as well as embarrassment when having to ask colleagues.
Food there is magnificent and affordable. When we were there we ordered a Hawaiian Pizza and gnocchi.among the best woodfire pizza I have ever had the pleasure of tasting and the gnocchi was made perfectly, not too doughy and filled with beautiful creamy flavours.
The restaurant is definitely recommended to lovers of Italian cuisine.
Hmm, friendly staff, quick service, the pizza was hmm ok, just had the basic one but still. The dough was thin as you expect when you get a pizza that's cooked in a fire oven, but that also makes it less filling, and the topping was not over the top just could have been more tasty.
Uncharacteristically disappointing. Slow service, ordering via an app despite the presence of wait staff and underdone pizza bases. On a positive, a number of the staff were very friendly and accommodating despite brief interactions due to the app ordering service.
This place is fantastic: lovely space, delicious food, amazing and super friendly service. I haven’t been to many restaurants in Ballarat, but this has to be one of the best!
Manager/s need to pull their head in. Staff were overburdened with too many bookings and hence my family had to wait for over an hour for two pizzas. Management, start looking after your staff and your customers rather than your bottom line.
Arrived here for dinner at 6.55pm after checking that a number of tables were available on opentable for 2 people for rest of the night. The staff told us that they were completely booked for rest of the night. We then booked via opentable for 7.15pm and the booking went through.
We were amazed at the arrogance of staff who then told us a table would become available at 7.15pm and we could wait if we wanted. No, thank you. The greek restaurant Hellas Fest next door have polite staff, great food and excellent service. Ain't no pizza that great to put up with arrogant staff who mislead guests into believing they are "completely booked" when their online booking partner shows plenty of availability.
Nice pizza place, great atmosphere, staff are great, service is quick, not much to ask for from a pizza place, only negative criticism is that the pasta taste amazing but if your looking for a proper Italian tasting pasta, they haven’t mastered it yet. Great place for any occasion, not too noisey either, even tho it was busy.
A vibrant pizza and pasta place in the heart of Ballarat! There are two large rooms that can fit up to 200 people. When we visited there were tables of 12 and more which was great to see. We ordered via Mr Yum and had the pasta carbonara, Prosciutto pizza and rocket salad. While we ordered, my kids watched the chefs cook through the glass.
The carbonara was delicious and a great portion size. The pizza was delicious however, burnt on the bottom. Apart from that we will definitely visit again when in Ballarat.
Very disappointed. Been coming here since opening. New order via app at table very impersonal and unwelcoming at a restaurant. Garlic pizza was undercooked cheese not even melted. Ordered at 6.33 and pizza and pumpkin salad came at 7.20. Salad was just a few pumpkin squares and mostly rocket. No dressing no flavour. Shearer's pizza had a soggy ultra thin base with topping that looked to be piled on as an afterthought and was not hot at all. Sat against the wall where piles of people were waiting for tables being hit on the back of the chair by kids and backsides. 2 glasses of wine, garlic bread, 1 pizza and a very basic salad came to $91. Definitely not value for money. Granted a Friday night busy time but seems like The Forge is not interested in quality but rather cramming in as many people as possible. To the owners - this is not sustainable. Sure things have changed with dining in but this was such a horrible experience sorry to say we won't be coming back in a hurry.
Love this location - kind staff, great food, and an awesome atmosphere. The atmosphere is always fantastic, great spot to visit!
Average experience, the room lacked atmosphere, for a warm night I was cold because we were seated on a table where the aircon blew straight down on us. I know it's not easy to keep everyone comfortable but I was genuinely cold. We were looking forward to the special seafood pizza but it was sold out by 7pm. We ordered entrees and main, had to ask where our entrees were after an hour, was told that they were very busy and they were on their way. Finally arrived about 20 mins after that with our mains at the same time. The quality of the food was good and the efforts of the young waiter was excellent but the overall experience was disappointing.
Saw all the table crowed through the window, thought it is popular, turns out that it takes 30mins for each table's meal to arrive.ha, that's what keeping the table filled.the food is certainly not worth that much time waiting, end up having Vietnamese Pho.do not recommend
