The Food Republic Cafe

Been going in here for years now, and probably should’ve left a review ages ago!

My two favourite things on the menu are the Cheeky Benedict and the Vietnamese Slaw Salad (with chicken). The coffee is also great and the people are friendly. Have known John, Max and Axel for quite a while now and they’re all great dudes. Would recommend.

Came here on a Sunday arvo to catch up with a mate. We ordered the chicken souvlaki open plate and the BLAT on toast. The BLAT was good, the chicken souvlaki was ok, but the chicken unfortunately lacked a bit of flavour and it was relatively overpriced ($31.00) considering the average quality of the open plate souvlaki. The staff were very friendly and checked in with us frequently. Overall good experience but the chicken souvlaki can be improved for taste and pricing!

The Food Republic Cafe is a must try! Offering the best selection of brunch and lunch in Blackburn with an equal selection of hot and cold beverages. Coffee is great and complimentary to the food. Highly recommended.

Milk foam good but coffee beans are average, the flavor and body is so plain and boring.

And another thing is, the guy who likes to reply “beautiful “to customers forgot my order.
I sit with my flat white maybe 30min and I ask the waitress how is my order, and she asked me what did I order. I just forgot what the actual name of it so I said I forgot the name and she just ran inside and spoke loudly to others”She forgot what she order! ” the pitch of her sound just like that was my fault!
It’s fine that you forgot the order, but why did you speak like that. That’s rude.
Then, another guy helped me with their menu, and they finally got my order.

They apologize twice for the missing order.
But the problem is not actually the missing but what the way you deal with it.

Top notch place. Beautiful outdoor environment and the best cakes I've had in this area so far. Loved it!

Delcious food as always, never disappointed when I visit! Indoor and outdoor seating options, great location with parking always available nearby.

I went to The Food Republic with two friends on Wednesday 12th of October.
The food was great as usual and the staff were very attentive. I can certainly recommend this cafe.

Friendly staffs. Food arrived fast. I recommend the fish and chips and FR breakfast. The matcha latte was a bit weak.

We always drove past the restaurant and wondered how good it must be to be so busy. So we finally booked a table on a Sunday for brunch. I ordered the Cheeky Benedict, the Food Republic and Omelette to share with my partner. Our plates came with a generous serving of bacon and enough portions of each item to balance the meal. It was wholesome, refreshing and filling all at the same time. The menu has a great selection that feels familiar but has it's own character. The service was great too! So glad we decided to check this place out! We'll definitely be back again!

My friend and I had lunch here today and have to say moment we arrived, the feeling was just lovely. Firstly the weather was lush, so the garden setting really came to life, and the wait staff were so happy and friendly. My friend ordered a slaw and I ordered the Buddah salad with chicken and wow, was it good. Really delicious ingredients and a killer dressing (tofu & miso), and a glass of lovely wine. We also had coffee which was fabulous and in all, we had not just a delicious meal, but a gorgeous place to sit with a lovely outlook, no thrashing music to contend with, divine staff and nearby free parking. Cannot wait to go back, even though it's nowhere near where I live!

Drove pass many times and saw crowds most of the times! Decided to do the brunch with families and voila … good coffee and love that scrambled egg with salads! Many places can do omelette or scrambled egg but not many do well especially the eggy smell can be quite put off. This one is spring back yet low cohesion - moist and sweet!

The food was nice but when the waitress was cleaning up the finished dishes on the table, first she was stacking the plates on the table, secondly the way she holding the knife was actually pointing toward my son's head and when he headed up the knife was pointing to his eyes very closely. I was shocked and speechless, didn't know how to react but got really upset. But she did say sorry.
The staffs might need further training on how to clear the table when customers finish their meals.

The staff were very friendly. The waiting time was very reasonable. The rib eye was slightly under but nothing to freak over. The pulled pork burger was exceptional! The linguine pasta was also slightly under but that's personal preference. We were expecting an American style omelette but got a french style with the salad on the side. The taste is still good. Would recommend a go at this Cafe.

I do not recommend going here. The food is nice but honestly nothing special. We made a booking for lunch and were made to wait by the entrance for an hour before being seated. No offer to provide us with drinks, nothing. When asking the staff how much longer the wait would be, they refused to help and mentioned the name of someone who would be apparently waiting on us today. As if we’d know the other person (by the name) to redirect our question? When we were seated, the food took almost an hour to arrive (including cold drinks) and we waited just as long for our desserts that never arrived and decided to leave. No apology. Will not be returning.

A1+ Highly recommend for fabulous service, coffee and food. Max makes great coffee and all staff have always been friendly. The lasagne was the best we’ve ever had. Even purchased a take away one too. I didn’t want my smashed avocado with bacon to end it was that good Heaps of different seating inside and out. A great place to meet friends.

The food was well presented and tasty though a little pricey.
The service was good and the atmosphere was pleasant. The music was a little loud. Otherwise a positive experience
