The Deck Southbank reviews
27Great service and great place. Let me sit and work on my tablet for an hour after finishing a meeting. Much appreciated. Thank you.
Fantastic location on the river. They know how to look after their customers with great service, food and attention to detail.
The luncheon menu superb value and speedy. If you work in Melbourne or just visiting it's an enjoyable experience which I will be repeating.
Had the lamb for dinner and it was absolutely divine. Their homemade tiramisu was delicious and our table enjoyed the cheese platter with our coffee. Service was lovely and friendly. The only thing I would have liked to have seen is a few more items on the menu.
One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been too!
Amazing food!
But honestly the best service I have ever received!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Beautiful view by the window facing the Southbank, great place for gathering with wines and meats.
They have a nice view, with a wide variety of wine to choose from and the service is really good, however, their food is simply not worth the price you pay for and their menu is very limited and confusing. They should try having a set menu instead, perhaps with the choice of pairing wine and the food. I think that would offer a better value for money.
A really good place to eat. The food's always good, the wine-list interesting with a good choice by the glass, and they are great at getting food out in as short time. Go there; I do often.
We had a lovely evening. Great service. Excellent food, we had the lamb shoulder. Absolutely delicious!
Highly recommend!
Went for lunch, disappointing experience below average food which is highly priced, not worth it.
First lunch out of lockdown. Really lovely 3 course meal, super tasty food and very friendly, attentive staff. Try the cauliflower!
I dont normally leave reviews but this place was so nice! Perfect for a date as the atmosphere is chatty but calm & quiet enough to have a conversation, food was amazing & the service was even better! Super kind and even helped us with choosing a wine, the view is beautiful & im definitely coming back soon x
Great spot. Food is delicious and wines to match.
Service is exceptional.
Highly recommend.
Absolutely stellar food and service (pre-Covid).
The deck has been a dining lifeline during Covid-19, with an exciting weekly rotating menu that has meals that are great for both a special occasion and weekly meals.
The packaging and instructions make for an easy, simple and utterly delicious dinner that also goes a long way (they are not small).
On a side note, the in house bread that they bake is some of the best I’ve had, putting your local bakery to shame.
If you haven’t tried one of their packs, have never dined there, or used to dine but haven’t had the chance to since the pandemic, I could not recommend it higher.
Always superb, food, quality, location. Was lucky enough to try the new take home food and it is unbelievably great - have had several of the meals all were amazing. Some restaurants have struggled to get take home right - but the deck have nailed it. Just unbelievably great experience all around easy to prepare and tremendous value.
Pre-theatre meal with 3 of us dining. Wait staff were great - efficient and unobtrusive.
We shared a charcuterie platter for entree which was delicious, then had a main each. Pastas were a reasonable size, although the spanner crab dish was extremely oily so my mother had to leave 1/2 of it. The rocking fillet I ordered was ridiculously small for $36 - maybe 150g tops? Photo shows the size of it compared to a dinner fork.
We ordered oysters for the table, gnocchi, squid ink linguine, chicken liver parfait, tiramisu and vanilla creme brulè, and DAMN, was it all absolutely spot on. Cocktails were on point, service was quick and attentive, and when there was a little issue with the bill it was remedied with zero fuss. The staff here deserve praise. We will absolutely be back. (The manager even helped us take some happy snaps!)
A really good place to eat. The foods always good, the winelist interesting with a good choice by the glass, and they are great at getting food out in as short time. Go there; I do often.
Absolutely great food, wine and service! What a little find hiding in at Southgate. It's so small you'd miss it. In fact I did. Had a lovely time and thanks to the team - kitchen and front of house! - for making our dinner great!
A restaurant though is only as good as the wait staff and the waiters here were always willing to help with menu and wine choices and so very very friendly. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough as my partner is begging me to go back already, once I save a little overtime.
Food was lovely though didn't seem to offer gluten free to our group? Due to such a small space they shouldn't agree to cater for large groups and stick to couples or groups of 4 at the most as it's a quaint spot. Unfortunately our waiter was not at his best so I'm not going to rate high sorry.
